Isaiah 28

1 Woe to the proud garland crown that is worn by each of the drunkards of Ephraim, and to the fading flower of its glorious beauty, the garland that is set on the head of the lush Valley of those who are overcome with wine!

घमंड का मुकुट जो एफ्राईम के मतवालों का है, उनकी सुंदरता पर, जो मुर्झाने वाला फूल है, जो उपजाऊ तराई के सिरे पर— दाखमधु से मतवालों की है!

2 Behold, the Lord sends one who is mighty and strong; like a storm of hail and a destructive windstorm, like a driving rain and overflowing waters; and he will throw each garland crown down to the ground.

देखो, याहवेह के पास एक है जो शक्तिशाली और मजबूत है, जिसने एक शक्तिशाली ओलावृष्टि और एक मूसलाधार बारिश की तरह, विनाश की आंधी और बाढ़ से, पृथ्वी को नुकसान पहुंचाया है.

3 The proud garland of the drunkards of Ephraim will be trodden underfoot.

एफ्राईम मतवालों के अहंकारी मुकुट को, पैरों तले रौंद दिया गया है.

4 The fading flower of his glorious beauty, that is on the head of the rich valley, will be as the first ripe fig before the summer, that, when someone sees it, while it is yet in his hand, he gulps it down.

इसकी सुंदरता मुरझाया हुआ फूल, जो उपजाऊ घाटी के ऊंचाई पर स्थित है, और वह जैसे ग्रीष्मकाल से पहले पके अंजीर के समान होगा— जिसे देखते ही जल्दी खा जाते हैं.

5 In that day Yahweh of hosts will become a beautiful crown and a diadem of beauty for the remainder of his people,

उस दिन सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह अपनी प्रजा के बचे हुओं के लिए, एक प्रतापी और सुंदर मुकुट ठहराएगा.

6 a spirit of justice for him who sits in judgment, and strength for those who turn back their enemies at their gates.

और जो न्याय-सिंहासन पर बैठा होता है उसके लिए न्याय की आत्मा, हां, जो फाटक से शत्रुओं को पीछे धकेलते हैं उनके लिये वह ढाल ठहरेगा.

7 But even these reel with wine, and stagger with strong drink. The priest and the prophet reel with strong drink, and they are swallowed up by wine. They stagger with strong drink, staggering in vision and reeling in decision.

पुरोहित और भविष्यद्वक्ता भी दाखमधु पीकर डगमगाते हैं, वे मधु से बेहाल होकर नीचे गिर पड़ते हैं, वे मधु से लड़खड़ाते हैं. भविष्यद्वक्ता जब अपने दर्शन देखते हैं, तभी भी वे पिए हुए होते हैं, और दर्शन पाकर भी भटक जाते हैं, न्यायाधीश जब न्याय करते हैं तो वे नशे में डूबे हुए होकर न्याय में गलती करते हैं.

8 Truly, all tables are covered with vomit, so that there is no clean place.

क्योंकि भोजन करने की जगह गंदगी से भरी हुई हैं और कहीं भी सफाई नहीं है.

9 To whom will he teach knowledge, and to whom will he explain the message? To those who are weaned from milk or to those just taken from the breasts?

“किसको सिखाएं और किसको समझाएं? क्या उन्हें, जो अभी-अभी दूध छुड़ाए गये बच्‍चे हैं, जो मां के स्तन से अलग किए गए हैं?

10 For it is command upon command, command upon command; rule upon rule, rule upon rule; here a little, there a little.

आज्ञा पर आज्ञा, आज्ञा पर आज्ञा, नियम पर नियम, नियम पर नियम; थोड़ा यहां, थोड़ा वहां.”

11 Indeed, with mocking lips and a foreign tongue he will speak to this people.

परमेश्वर इन लोगों को हकलाते हुए होंठों और विदेशी भाषा वालों के द्वारा बात करेंगे,

12 In the past he said to them “This is the rest, give rest to him who is weary; and this is the refreshing,” but they would not listen.

जिन्होंने उन्हें इस प्रकार कहा, “विश्राम यहां है, जो थके हैं उन्हें आराम दो”; “विश्राम यहीं है”— किंतु वे नहीं सुनेंगे.

13 So the word of Yahweh will be to them command upon command, command upon command; rule upon rule, rule upon rule; here a little, there a little; so that they may go and fall backward, and be broken, ensnared, and captured.

तब उनके लिए याहवेह ने उनसे कहा: आज्ञा पर आज्ञा, आज्ञा पर आज्ञा, नियम पर नियम, नियम पर नियम; थोड़ा यहां, थोड़ा वहां— जिससे वे ठोकर खाकर गिरकर घायल हो जायें और; जाल में फंसकर पकडे जाएं.

14 So listen to the word of Yahweh, you who mock, you who rule over this people who are in Jerusalem.

इस कारण हे ठट्ठा करनेवालो, याहवेह की बात सुनो, वह जो इस प्रजा पर शासन करते हैं वे येरूशलेम में रहते हैं.

15 This will happen because you said, “We have made a covenant with death, and with Sheol we have reached an agreement. So when the overwhelming whip passes through, it will not reach us. For we have made a lie our refuge, and taken shelter in falsehood.” (Sheol h7585)

क्योंकि तुमने कहा है, “हमने मृत्यु से एक वाचा बांधी है और अधोलोक से एक समझौता किया है. जब यह कष्ट बढ़ जाये, तब यह हम तक नहीं पहुंच पाएगा, क्योंकि हमने झूठ को अपना शरणस्थान बनाया है और झूठ की आड़ में हमने अपने आपको छिपा रखा है.” (Sheol h7585)

16 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says, “See, I will lay in Zion a foundation stone, a tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation. He who believes will not be ashamed.

इसलिये याहवेह यों कहते हैं: “देखो, मैंने ज़ियोन में एक पत्थर, एक परखा हुआ पत्थर, नींव के लिए एक मूल्यवान कोने का पत्थर रखा है.

17 I will make justice the measuring stick, and righteousness the plumbline. Hail will sweep away the refuge of lies, and the floodwaters will overwhelm the hiding place.

मैं न्याय को नाप की डोरी और धर्मी को साहुल बनाऊंगा; तब झूठ का शरणस्थान ओलों से बह जाएगा, और छिपने की जगह डूब जाएगी.

18 Your covenant with death will be dissolved, and your agreement with Sheol will not stand. When the raging flood passes through, you will be overwhelmed by it. (Sheol h7585)

मृत्यु से तुम्हारी वाचा टूट जाएगी; और अधोलोक से तुम्हारा समझौता सिद्ध न होगा. जब विपत्ति दंड के रूप में निकलेगी, तब तुम कुचल दिए जाओगे. (Sheol h7585)

19 Whenever it passes through, it will overwhelm you, and morning by morning it will pass through and by day and night it will come. When the message is understood, it will cause terror.

जितना तुम बढ़ोगे वह तुम्हें दबा देगी; क्योंकि हर दिन और हर रात किसी भी समय होकर वह निकलेगा, और इस बात से तुम डर जाओगे.”

20 For the bed is too short for a man to stretch out on, and the blanket too narrow for him to wrap himself in.”

किसी को फैलकर सोने के लिए बिछौना छोटा पड़ जाता है, और किसी को ओढ़ने के लिए चादर संकरी.

21 Yahweh will rise up as on Mount Perazim; he will rouse himself as in the Valley of Gibeon to do his work, his strange work, and perform his strange deed.

क्योंकि याहवेह उसी प्रकार खड़े हो जाएंगे जिस प्रकार वह पराज़ीम पर्वत पर खड़े हुए थे, और वह उसी प्रकार क्रोधित होंगे जैसे वह गिबयोन की घाटी में क्रोधित हुए थे— फिर से वह अपना काम करेगा, जो अद्भुत और अचंभित है.

22 Now therefore do not mock, or your bonds will be tightened. I have heard from the Lord Yahweh of hosts, a decree of destruction on the earth.

इसलिये अब ठट्ठा करनेवालों के समान मत बनो, नहीं तो तुम्हारी बेड़ियों को और अधिक मजबूत कर दिया जाएगा; क्योंकि प्रभु सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह से मैंने सारी पृथ्वी पर विनाश के विषय में सुना है.

23 Pay attention and listen to my voice; be attentive and listen to my words.

ध्यान दो और सुनो सचेत हो जाओ; और मेरी बातों पर ध्यान दो.

24 Does a farmer who plows all day to sow, only plow the ground? Does he continually break up and harrow the field?

क्या बीज बोने वाले के लिए एक किसान भूमि को जोतता रहता है? क्या वह भूमि को निरंतर पलटता और सींचता रहता है?

25 When he has prepared the ground, does he not scatter caraway seed, sow the cumin, put in the wheat in rows and the barley in the right place, and the spelt at its edges?

क्या वह इसे समतल नहीं बनाता और इसमें सौंफ उगाता, जीरे को छितराता, पंक्तियों में गेहूं उगाता, जौ और बाजरे को उसके स्थान पर नहीं बोता?

26 His God instructs him; he teaches him wisely.

क्योंकि उसे बताये गए हैं, और परमेश्वर उसे सिखा देते हैं.

27 Moreover, the caraway seed is not threshed with a sledge, nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cumin; but caraway is beaten with a stick, and cumin with a rod.

सौंफ की दंवरी पटरे से नहीं की जाती, और न ही जीरे के ऊपर गाड़ी का पहिया चलाया जाता है; किंतु सौंफ की दंवरी तो लाठी से और जीरे की मुगदर से की जाती है.

28 Grain is ground for bread but not too finely, and though the wheels of his cart and his horses scatter it, his horses do not crush it.

क्या दंवरी में रोटी के लिए अन्‍न को चूर-चूर किया जाता है; नहीं, किसान इसकी दंवरी सर्वदा नहीं करता रहता. जब वह अपनी गाड़ी के पहिए को घोड़ों के द्वारा इसके ऊपर चलाता है, वह इसे चूर-चूर नहीं करता.

29 This too comes from Yahweh of hosts, who is wonderful in instruction and excellent in wisdom.

इसे नियुक्त करनेवाला भी सर्वशक्तिमान याहवेह ही, अद्भुत युक्ति वाला और महा बुद्धिमान है.
