Isaiah 20

1 In the year that Tartan came to Ashdod, when Sargon the king of Assyria sent him, he fought against Ashdod and took it.

În anul în care Tartan a venit la Asdod, (când Sargon, împăratul Asiriei, l-a trimis) şi a luptat împotriva Asdodului şi l-a luat;

2 At that time Yahweh spoke by Isaiah son of Amoz and said, “Go and remove the sackcloth from your waist, and take your sandals off your feet.” He did so, walking naked and barefoot.

În acelaşi timp DOMNUL a vorbit prin Isaia, fiul lui Amoţ, spunând: Du-te şi dezleagă pânza de sac de pe coapsele tale şi dă-ţi jos sandala din picior. Şi el a făcut astfel, umblând gol şi desculţ.

3 Yahweh said, “Just as my servant Isaiah has walked naked and barefoot for three years, it is a sign and an omen concerning Egypt and concerning Cush—

Şi DOMNUL a spus: Aşa cum servitorul meu Isaia a umblat gol şi desculţ trei ani ca un semn şi o minune peste Egipt şi peste Etiopia,

4 in this way the king of Assyria will lead away the captives of Egypt, and the exiles of Cush, young and old, naked and barefoot, and with buttocks uncovered, to the shame of Egypt.

La fel împăratul Asiriei îi va duce pe egipteni prizonieri şi pe etiopieni captivi, tineri şi bătrâni, goi şi desculţi, chiar cu fesele lor descoperite, spre ruşinea Egiptului.

5 They will be dismayed and ashamed, because of Cush their hope and of Egypt their glory.

Şi vor fi înspăimântaţi şi ruşinaţi de Etiopia, aşteptarea lor, şi de Egipt, gloria lor.

6 The inhabitants of these coasts will say on that day, 'Indeed, this was our source of hope, where we fled for help to be rescued from the king of Assyria, and now, how can we escape?'”

Şi locuitorul acestei insule va spune în acea zi: Iată, astfel este speranţa noastră, la care fugim pentru ajutor, pentru a fi eliberaţi de împăratul Asiriei, şi cum vom scăpa?
