Isaiah 2
1 The things that Isaiah son of Amoz perceived in a vision, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
Parole qui vint à Isaïe, fils d'Amos, sur la Judée et sur Jérusalem.
2 It will be in the last days that the mountain of Yahweh's house will be established as the highest of the mountains, and it will be raised up above the hills, and all the nations will flow to it.
Aux derniers jours la montagne du Seigneur sera glorieuse; sur la cime des monts apparaîtra la maison de Dieu; elle s'élèvera au-dessus des collines, et tous les Gentils y viendront.
3 Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob, so he may teach us some of his ways, and we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion will go the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.
Et maintes nations partiront, disant: Allons et montons à la montagne du Seigneur et à la maison du Dieu de Jacob, et il nous annoncera sa voie, et nous y marcherons; car la loi sortira de Sion, et la parole du Seigneur, de Jérusalem.
4 He will judge between the nations and will render decisions for many peoples; they will hammer their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any longer.
Et il jugera entre les nations, et il réprimandera nombre de peuples. Et de leurs glaives ils forgeront des charrues, et des faux de leurs javelines; et l'on ne tirera plus l'épée nation contre nation, et l'on n'apprendra plus à se faire la guerre.
5 House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.
Et maintenant venez, maison de Jacob, et marchons à la lumière du Seigneur.
6 For you have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with customs from the east and they practice divination like the Philistines, and they shake hands with sons of foreigners.
Car il avait abandonné son peuple, la maison d'Israël; parce qu'au commencement leur terre était remplie de devins et d'augures, comme celle des Philistins, et que beaucoup d'enfants leur étaient nés de femmes étrangères
7 Their land is full of silver and gold, and is there no limit to their wealth; their land also is full of horses, nor is there limit to their chariots.
Leur terre regorgeait d'argent et d'or, et leurs trésors étaient sans nombre. Et leur pays était couvert de chevaux, et l'on ne pouvait compter leurs chars.
8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the craftsmanship of their own hands, things that their own fingers have made.
Et la terre était remplie de leurs œuvres d'abomination, faites de leurs mains, et ils adoraient des dieux façonnés de leurs doigts.
9 The people will be bowed down, and individuals will fall down; therefore do not raise them up.
Et l'homme se courbait, et le guerrier s'humiliait; non, je ne leur pardonnerai point.
10 Go into the rocky places and hide in the ground from the terror of Yahweh and from the glory of his majesty.
Et maintenant entrez parmi les rochers, et cachez-vous dans la terre devant la crainte du Seigneur, devant sa gloire et sa puissance, lorsqu'il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
11 The lofty gaze of man will be brought low, and the pride of men will be brought down, and Yahweh alone will be exalted on that day.
Car les yeux du Seigneur sont en haut, et l'homme en bas. Et la hauteur des hommes sera abattue, et en ce jour le Seigneur seul sera élevé en gloire.
12 For there will be a day of Yahweh of hosts against everyone who is proud and raised up, and against everyone who is arrogant—and he will be brought down—
Le jour du Seigneur des armées sera contre tout homme insolent et superbe, contre tout homme altier et orgueilleux, et ils seront abaissés.
13 and against all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan.
Ce jour sera contre le grand cèdre du Liban qui s'élève jusqu'au ciel, et contre le palmier de Basan;
14 That day of Yahweh of hosts will be against all the high mountains, and against all the hills that are lifted up,
Contre les hautes montagnes et les hautes collines,
15 and against every high tower, and against every impregnable wall,
Contre les tours altières et les remparts altiers,
16 and against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all beautiful sailing vessels.
Contre tous les vaisseaux de la mer, et contre les plus beaux navires.
17 The pride of man will be brought low, and the haughtiness of men will fall; Yahweh alone will be exalted on that day.
Et tout homme sera humilié, et l'orgueil des hommes tombera, et en ce jour le Seigneur sera seul élevé en gloire.
18 The idols will completely pass away.
Et ils cacheront toutes les idoles, œuvres de leurs mains,
19 Men will go into the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.
Les emportant dans les cavernes, dans les fentes des rochers, dans les profondeurs de la terre, devant la crainte du Seigneur, devant sa gloire et sa puissance, lorsqu'il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
20 On that day people will throw away their idols of silver and of gold that they have made for themselves to worship—they will throw them away to the moles and bats.
Car ce jour-là l'homme rejettera les abominations d'or et d'argent qu'il aura faites pour adorer de vaines idoles et des oiseaux de nuit;
21 The people will go into the crevices in the rocks and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from the terror of Yahweh and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.
En pénétrant dans les creux, dans les cavernes et les fentes des plus durs rochers, devant la crainte du Seigneur, devant sa gloire et sa puissance, quand il se lèvera pour frapper la terre.
22 Stop trusting in man, whose life-breath is in his nostrils, for what does he amount to?
