< Isaiah 2 >

1 The things that Isaiah son of Amoz perceived in a vision, concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem.
2 It will be in the last days that the mountain of Yahweh's house will be established as the highest of the mountains, and it will be raised up above the hills, and all the nations will flow to it.
And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of Yhwh's house shall be established in the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow unto it.
3 Many peoples will come and say, “Come, let us go up to the mountain of Yahweh, to the house of the God of Jacob, so he may teach us some of his ways, and we may walk in his paths.” For out of Zion will go the law, and the word of Yahweh from Jerusalem.
And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of Yhwh, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of Yhwh from Jerusalem.
4 He will judge between the nations and will render decisions for many peoples; they will hammer their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation will not lift up sword against nation, nor will they train for war any longer.
And he shall judge among the nations, and shall rebuke many people: and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruninghooks: nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they learn war any more.
5 House of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of Yahweh.
O house of Jacob, come ye, and let us walk in the light of Yhwh.
6 For you have abandoned your people, the house of Jacob, because they are filled with customs from the east and they practice divination like the Philistines, and they shake hands with sons of foreigners.
Therefore thou hast forsaken thy people the house of Jacob, because they be replenished from the east, and are soothsayers like the Philistines, and they please themselves in the children of strangers.
7 Their land is full of silver and gold, and is there no limit to their wealth; their land also is full of horses, nor is there limit to their chariots.
Their land also is full of silver and gold, neither is there any end of their treasures; their land is also full of horses, neither is there any end of their chariots:
8 Their land also is full of idols; they worship the craftsmanship of their own hands, things that their own fingers have made.
Their land also is full of idols; they worship the work of their own hands, that which their own fingers have made:
9 The people will be bowed down, and individuals will fall down; therefore do not raise them up.
And the mean man boweth down, and the great man humbleth himself: therefore forgive them not.
10 Go into the rocky places and hide in the ground from the terror of Yahweh and from the glory of his majesty.
Enter into the rock, and hide thee in the dust, for fear of Yhwh, and for the glory of his majesty.
11 The lofty gaze of man will be brought low, and the pride of men will be brought down, and Yahweh alone will be exalted on that day.
The lofty looks of man shall be humbled, and the haughtiness of men shall be bowed down, And Yhwh alone shall be exalted in that day.
12 For there will be a day of Yahweh of hosts against everyone who is proud and raised up, and against everyone who is arrogant—and he will be brought down—
For the day of Yhwh of Armies shall be upon every one that is proud and lofty, and upon every one that is lifted up; and he shall be brought low:
13 and against all the cedars of Lebanon that are high and lifted up, and against all the oaks of Bashan.
And upon all the cedars of Lebanon, that are high and lifted up, and upon all the oaks of Bashan,
14 That day of Yahweh of hosts will be against all the high mountains, and against all the hills that are lifted up,
And upon all the high mountains, and upon all the hills that are lifted up,
15 and against every high tower, and against every impregnable wall,
And upon every high tower, and upon every fenced wall,
16 and against all the ships of Tarshish, and against all beautiful sailing vessels.
And upon all the ships of Tarshish, and upon all pleasant pictures.
17 The pride of man will be brought low, and the haughtiness of men will fall; Yahweh alone will be exalted on that day.
And the loftiness of man shall be bowed down, and the haughtiness of men shall be made low: And Yhwh alone shall be exalted in that day.
18 The idols will completely pass away.
And the idols he shall utterly abolish.
19 Men will go into the caves of the rocks and the holes of the ground, from the terror of Yahweh, and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.
And they shall go into the holes of the rocks, and into the caves of the earth, for fear of Yhwh, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
20 On that day people will throw away their idols of silver and of gold that they have made for themselves to worship—they will throw them away to the moles and bats.
In that day a man shall cast his idols of silver, and his idols of gold, which they made each one for himself to worship, to the moles and to the bats;
21 The people will go into the crevices in the rocks and into the clefts of the ragged rocks, from the terror of Yahweh and from the glory of his majesty, when he rises to terrify the earth.
To go into the clefts of the rocks, and into the tops of the ragged rocks, for fear of Yhwh, and for the glory of his majesty, when he ariseth to shake terribly the earth.
22 Stop trusting in man, whose life-breath is in his nostrils, for what does he amount to?
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils: for wherein is he to be accounted of?
