Isaiah 1

1 The vision of Isaiah son of Amoz, that he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാരായ ഉസ്സീയാവ്, യോഥാം, ആഹാസ്, ഹിസ്കിയാവ് എന്നിവരുടെ ഭരണകാലത്ത് യെഹൂദ്യയെയും ജെറുശലേമിനെയുംപറ്റി, ആമോസിന്റെ മകനായ യെശയ്യാവിന് ലഭിച്ച ദർശനം ഇതാകുന്നു.

2 Hear, heavens, and give ear, earth; for Yahweh has spoken: “I have nourished and brought up children, but they have rebelled against me.

ആകാശമേ, കേൾക്കുക! ഭൂമിയേ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക! യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “ഞാൻ മക്കളെ പോറ്റിവളർത്തി; എന്നാൽ അവർ എനിക്കെതിരേ മത്സരിച്ചു.

3 The ox knows his owner, and the donkey his master's feeding trough, but Israel does not know, Israel does not understand.”

കാള തന്റെ ഉടമസ്ഥനെയും കഴുത തന്റെ യജമാനന്റെ പുൽത്തൊട്ടിയും അറിയുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ഇസ്രായേലോ തിരിച്ചറിയുന്നില്ല. എന്റെ ജനം മനസ്സിലാക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.”

4 Woe! Nation, sinners, a people weighed down with iniquity, offspring of evildoers, sons who act corruptly! They have abandoned Yahweh, they have despised the Holy One of Israel, they have estranged themselves from him.

അയ്യോ! എന്തൊരു പാപംനിറഞ്ഞ ജനത! കുറ്റഭാരം ചുമക്കുന്ന സന്തതി, ദുഷ്കർമികളുടെ മക്കൾ! വഷളത്തം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്ന പുത്രന്മാർ! അവർ യഹോവയെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു; ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ തിരസ്കരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു, അവിടത്തേക്കെതിരേ അവർ പുറംതിരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.

5 Why are you still being beaten? Why do you rebel more and more? The whole head is sick, the whole heart is weak.

നിങ്ങളെ ഇനിയും അടിക്കുന്നത് എന്തിന്? നിങ്ങൾ മാത്സര്യത്തിൽ തുടർന്നുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതും എന്തിന്? നിങ്ങളുടെ തല മുഴുവനും മുറിവേറ്റിരിക്കുന്നു, നിങ്ങളുടെ ഹൃദയം മുഴുവനും രോഗാതുരമായിരിക്കുന്നു.

6 From the sole of the foot to the head there is no part unharmed; only wounds, and bruises, and fresh open wounds; they have not been closed, cleansed, bandaged, nor treated with oil.

ഉള്ളങ്കാൽമുതൽ ഉച്ചിവരെ ഒരു സ്ഥലവും മുറിവേൽക്കാത്തതായിട്ടില്ല— മുറിവുകൾ, പൊറ്റകൾ, ചോരയൊലിക്കുന്ന വ്രണങ്ങൾ, അവ വൃത്തിയാക്കുകയോ വെച്ചുകെട്ടുകയോ ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല, ഒലിവെണ്ണയാൽ ശമനം വരുത്തിയിട്ടുമില്ല.

7 Your country is ruined; your cities are burned; your fields—in your presence, strangers are destroying them— abandoned devastation, overthrown by strangers.

നിങ്ങളുടെ രാജ്യം ശൂന്യമായി, നിങ്ങളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങൾ തീവെച്ചു നശിപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; നിങ്ങളുടെ നിലങ്ങൾ വിദേശികളാൽ അപഹരിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു നിങ്ങളുടെ കണ്മുമ്പിൽവെച്ചുതന്നെ, അപരിചിതർ തകർത്തുകളഞ്ഞതുപോലെ അതു ശൂന്യമായിക്കിടക്കുന്നു.

8 The daughter of Zion is left like a hut in a vineyard, like a shed in a garden of cucumbers, like a besieged city.

മുന്തിരിത്തോപ്പിലെ കൂടാരംപോലെയും വെള്ളരിത്തോട്ടത്തിലെ മാടംപോലെയും ഉപരോധിക്കപ്പെട്ട നഗരംപോലെയും സീയോൻപുത്രി ഉപേക്ഷിക്കപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.

9 If Yahweh of hosts had not left for us a small remnant, we would have been like Sodom, we would have been like Gomorrah.

സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവ ചിലരെയെങ്കിലും നമുക്കായി ശേഷിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്നില്ലെങ്കിൽ നാം സൊദോം നഗരംപോലെയും ഗൊമോറാ പട്ടണംപോലെയും നശിപ്പിക്കപ്പെടുമായിരുന്നു.

10 Hear the word of Yahweh, you rulers of Sodom; listen to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah:

സൊദോമിലെ ഭരണാധികാരികളേ, യഹോവയുടെ വചനം കേൾക്കുക; ഗൊമോറാ നിവാസികളേ, നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിർദേശങ്ങൾ ശ്രദ്ധിക്കുക!

11 “What is the multitude of your sacrifices to me?” says Yahweh. “I have had enough of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fatted beasts; and in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats I do not delight.

“നിങ്ങളുടെ നിരവധിയായ ബലികൾ എനിക്കെന്തിന്?” യഹോവ ചോദിക്കുന്നു. “മുട്ടാടുകളുടെ ഹോമയാഗവും തടിപ്പിച്ച മൃഗങ്ങളുടെ മേദസ്സുംമൂലം ഞാൻ മടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു; കാളകളുടെയോ ആട്ടിൻകുട്ടികളുടെയോ കോലാടുകളുടെയോ രക്തത്തിൽ എനിക്കു പ്രസാദമില്ല.

12 When you come to appear before me, who has required this of you, to trample my courts?

നിങ്ങൾ എന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വന്ന് എന്റെ അങ്കണങ്ങൾ ചവിട്ടി അശുദ്ധമാക്കാനായി ഇതു നിങ്ങളോട് ആവശ്യപ്പെട്ടത് ആരാണ്?

13 Bring no more meaningless offerings; incense is an abomination to me; your new moon and Sabbath assemblies—I cannot tolerate these wicked assemblies.

വ്യർഥമായ യാഗങ്ങൾ ഇനി നിങ്ങൾ അർപ്പിക്കരുത്! നിങ്ങളുടെ ധൂപവർഗം എനിക്കു വെറുപ്പുളവാക്കുന്നു. അമാവാസിയും ശബ്ബത്തും സഭായോഗം കൂടുന്നതും— നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിറഞ്ഞ സഭായോഗങ്ങൾ—എനിക്ക് അസഹ്യമാണ്.

14 I hate your new moons and your appointed feasts; they are a burden to me; I am tired of enduring them.

നിങ്ങളുടെ അമാവാസികളിലെ ആഘോഷങ്ങളെയും നിർദിഷ്ട ഉത്സവങ്ങളെയും ഞാൻ പൂർണമായും വെറുക്കുന്നു. അവ എനിക്കൊരു ഭാരമായിരിക്കുന്നു; അവ സഹിച്ചു ഞാൻ മടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.

15 So when you spread out your hands in prayer, I hide my eyes from you; even though you offer many prayers, I will not listen; your hands are full of blood.

അതിനാൽ നിങ്ങൾ കൈമലർത്തി പ്രാർഥിക്കുമ്പോൾ, ഞാൻ എന്റെ കണ്ണുകൾ നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് അകറ്റിക്കളയും; നിങ്ങൾ പ്രാർഥനകൾ എത്ര മടങ്ങായി വർധിപ്പിച്ചാലും ഞാൻ കേൾക്കുകയില്ല. “കാരണം നിങ്ങളുടെ കൈകൾ രക്തപങ്കിലമാണ്!

16 Wash, cleanse yourselves; remove the evil of your deeds from my sight; stop being evil;

“നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ കഴുകി വെടിപ്പാക്കുക. നിങ്ങളുടെ ദുഷ്ടതനിറഞ്ഞ പ്രവൃത്തികൾ എന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളയുക; ദോഷം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നതു നിർത്തുക.

17 learn to do good; seek justice, make straight the oppression, give justice to the fatherless, defend the widow.”

നന്മചെയ്യാൻ പഠിക്കുക; ന്യായം അന്വേഷിക്കുക. പീഡിതരെ സ്വതന്ത്രരാക്കുക. അനാഥരുടെ കാര്യം ഏറ്റെടുക്കുക; വിധവയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി വ്യവഹരിക്കുക.

18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” says Yahweh; “though your sins are like scarlet, they will be white like snow; though they are red like crimson, they will be like wool.

“ഇപ്പോൾ വരിക, നമുക്കുതമ്മിൽ വാദിക്കാം,” എന്ന് യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു. “നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപം കടുംചെമപ്പായിരുന്നാലും, അവ ഹിമംപോലെ ശുഭ്രമാകും; അവ രക്താംബരംപോലെ ചെമപ്പായിരുന്നാലും വെളുത്ത കമ്പിളിരോമംപോലെ ആയിത്തീരും.

19 If you are willing and obedient, you will eat the good of the land,

നിങ്ങൾക്ക് അനുസരിക്കാനുള്ള മനസ്സുണ്ടെങ്കിൽ ദേശത്തിലെ നല്ല വിഭവങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങൾ അനുഭവിക്കും.

20 but if you refuse and rebel, the sword will devour you,” for the mouth of Yahweh has spoken it.

എന്നാൽ നിങ്ങൾ എതിർക്കുകയും മത്സരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്താൽ, നിങ്ങൾ വാളിന് ഇരയായിത്തീരും.” യഹോവതന്നെയാണല്ലോ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നത്.

21 How the faithful city has become a prostitute! She who was full of justice—she was full of righteousness, but now she is full of murderers.

നോക്കൂ, വിശ്വസ്തമായിരുന്ന നഗരം ഒരു വേശ്യയായി മാറിയത് എങ്ങനെ? ഒരിക്കൽ അതിൽ ന്യായം നിറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു; നീതി അതിൽ കുടികൊണ്ടിരുന്നു— എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ കൊലപാതകികൾ അതിൽ വസിക്കുന്നു.

22 Your silver has become impure, your wine mixed with water.

നിങ്ങളുടെ വെള്ളി കീടമായി മാറി, നിങ്ങളുടെ വിശിഷ്ടമായ വീഞ്ഞിൽ വെള്ളം കലർന്നു.

23 Your princes are rebels and companions of thieves; everyone loves bribes and runs after payoffs. They do not defend the fatherless, nor does the widow's legal plea come before them.

നിങ്ങളുടെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാർ മത്സരികൾ, കള്ളന്മാരുടെ പങ്കാളികൾതന്നെ; അവർ എല്ലാവരും കൈക്കൂലി ആഗ്രഹിക്കുകയും പ്രതിഫലം ഇച്ഛിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു. അവർ അനാഥർക്കുവേണ്ടി വ്യവഹരിക്കുന്നില്ല; വിധവയുടെ അപേക്ഷ പരിഗണിക്കുന്നതുമില്ല.

24 Therefore this is the declaration of the Lord Yahweh of hosts, the Mighty One of Israel: “Woe to them! I will take vengeance against my adversaries, and avenge myself against my enemies;

അതുകൊണ്ട് സൈന്യങ്ങളുടെ യഹോവയായ കർത്താവ്, ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ശക്തൻതന്നെ, അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: “എന്റെ എതിരാളികളുടെമേൽ എന്റെ ക്രോധം ഞാൻ അഴിച്ചുവിടും; എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളോടു ഞാൻ പ്രതികാരംചെയ്യും.

25 I will turn my hand against you, refine away your dross as with lye, and take away all your dross.

ഞാൻ എന്റെ കരം നിനക്കെതിരേ തിരിക്കും; ഞാൻ നിന്നിലെ കിട്ടം ഉരുക്കിക്കളയും; നിന്നിലുള്ള സകല അശുദ്ധിയും ഞാൻ നീക്കിക്കളയും.

26 I will restore your judges as at the first, and your counselors as at the beginning; after that you will be called the city of righteousness, a faithful town.”

അപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ന്യായാധിപന്മാരെ മുൻപത്തേതുപോലെയും നിന്റെ ഉപദേഷ്ടാക്കന്മാരെ ആരംഭത്തിലെന്നപോലെയും പുനഃസ്ഥാപിക്കും. അതിനുശേഷം നീ നീതിയുടെ നഗരമെന്നും വിശ്വസ്തതയുടെ പട്ടണമെന്നും വിളിക്കപ്പെടും.”

27 Zion will be redeemed by justice, and her repentant ones by righteousness.

സീയോൻ, ന്യായത്താലും അതിൽ മനംതിരിയുന്നവർ, നീതിയാലും വീണ്ടെടുക്കപ്പെടും.

28 Rebels and sinners will be crushed together, and those who abandon Yahweh will be done away with.

എന്നാൽ മത്സരികളും പാപികളും ഒരുപോലെ നശിച്ചുപോകും; യഹോവയെ പരിത്യജിക്കുന്നവർ സംഹരിക്കപ്പെടും.

29 “For you will be ashamed of the sacred oak trees that you desired, and you will be embarrassed by the gardens that you have chosen.

“നിങ്ങൾ ആശിച്ച കരുവേലക്കാവുകൾനിമിത്തം നിങ്ങൾ ലജ്ജിതരാകും; നിങ്ങൾ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ഉദ്യാനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു നിങ്ങൾ അവഹേളിക്കപ്പെടും.

30 For you will be like an oak whose leaf fades, and like a garden that has no water.

നിങ്ങൾ ഇലകൊഴിഞ്ഞ കരുവേലകംപോലെയും വരൾച്ച ബാധിച്ച ഉദ്യാനംപോലെയും ആകും.

31 The strong man will be like tinder, and his work like a spark; they will both burn together, and no one will quench them.”

ബലവാൻ ചണനാരുപോലെയും അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തി തീപ്പൊരിപോലെയും ആകും; അവ രണ്ടും ഒരുമിച്ചു വെന്തുപോകും, അതിന്റെ തീ കെടുത്തുന്നതിന് ആരും ഉണ്ടാകുകയില്ല.”
