< Hebrews 8 >

1 Now the point of what we are saying is this: We have a high priest who has sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens.
Nísinsin yìí, kókó ohun tí à ń sọ nìyí. Àwa ní irú olórí àlùfáà bẹ́ẹ̀, tí ó jókòó lọ́wọ́ ọ̀tún ìtẹ́ Ọláńlá nínú àwọn ọ̀run,
2 He is a servant in the holy place, the true tabernacle that the Lord, not a man, set up.
Ìránṣẹ́ ibi mímọ́, àti ti àgọ́ tòótọ́, tí Olúwa pa, kì í ṣe ènìyàn.
3 For every high priest is appointed to offer both gifts and sacrifices. Therefore it is necessary to have something to offer.
Nítorí a fi olórí àlùfáà kọ̀ọ̀kan jẹ láti máa mú ẹ̀bùn wá láti máa rú ẹbọ, nítorí náà ó ṣe pàtàkì fún eléyìí náà láti ní nǹkan tí ó máa fi sílẹ̀.
4 Now if Christ were on earth, he would not be a priest at all, since there are those who offer the gifts according to the law.
Tí ó bá jẹ́ pé ó wà ní ayé ni, òun kì bá ti jẹ́ àlùfáà, nítorí pé àwọn ọkùnrin tí ó ń fi ẹ̀bùn sílẹ̀ ti wà bí òfin ṣe là á sílẹ̀.
5 They serve in a tabernacle that is a copy and shadow of the heavenly things. It is just as Moses was warned by God when he was about to construct the tabernacle: God said, “See that you make everything according to the pattern that was shown to you on the mountain.”
Àwọn ẹni tí ń jọ́sìn nínú pẹpẹ kan tí ó jẹ́ àpẹẹrẹ àti òjìji ohun tí ń bẹ ní ọ̀run. Ìdí abájọ nìyí tí a fi kìlọ̀ fún Mose nígbà tí ó fẹ́ kọ́ àgọ́, nítorí ó wí pé, “Kíyèsí i, kí ìwọ kí ó ṣe wọ́n gẹ́gẹ́ bí àpẹẹrẹ wọn, ti a fi hàn ọ́ ni orí òkè.”
6 But now Christ has received a much better ministry, just as he is also the mediator of a better covenant, which is based on better promises.
Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí o ti gba iṣẹ́ ìránṣẹ́ tí ó ni ọlá jù, níwọ̀n bí o ti jẹ pé alárinà májẹ̀mú tí o dára jù ní i ṣe, èyí tí a fi ṣe òfin lórí ìlérí tí o sàn jù bẹ́ẹ̀ lọ.
7 For if that first covenant had been faultless, there would have been no need for a second covenant.
Nítorí ìbá ṣe pé májẹ̀mú ìṣáájú nì kò ní àbùkù, ǹjẹ́ a kì bá ti wá ààyè fún èkejì.
8 For when God found fault with the people, he said, “See, the days are coming—says the Lord— when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.
Nítorí tí ó rí àbùkù lára wọn, ó wí pé, “Ìgbà kan ń bọ̀, ni Olúwa wí, tí Èmi yóò bá ilé Israẹli àti ilé Juda dá májẹ̀mú tuntun.
9 It will not be like the covenant that I made with their ancestors on the day that I took them by their hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt. For they did not carefully obey my covenant, and I disregarded them —says the Lord.
Kì í ṣe gẹ́gẹ́ bí májẹ̀mú tí mo ti bá àwọn baba baba wọn dá, nígbà tí mo fà wọ́n lọ́wọ́ láti mú wọn jáde kúrò ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti, nítorí wọn kò jẹ́ olóòtítọ́ sí májẹ̀mú mi èmi kò sì ta wọ́n nu, ni Olúwa wí.
10 This is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days —says the Lord. I will put my laws into their minds, and I will also write them on their hearts. I will be their God, and they will be my people.
Nítorí èyí ni májẹ̀mú tí èmi yóò bá ilé Israẹli dá lẹ́yìn àwọn ọjọ́ wọ̀nyí, ni Olúwa wí. Èmi ó fi òfin mi sí inú wọn, èmi ó sì kọ wọ́n sí ọkàn wọn, èmi ó sì máa jẹ́ Ọlọ́run fún wọn, wọn ó sì máa jẹ́ ènìyàn fún mi.
11 They will not teach each one his neighbor and each one his brother, saying, 'Know the Lord.' For they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest.
Olúkúlùkù kò ní tún máa kọ́ ara ìlú rẹ̀, tàbí olúkúlùkù arákùnrin rẹ̀, pé, ‘Mọ Olúwa,’ nítorí pé gbogbo wọn ni yóò mọ̀ mí, láti kékeré dé àgbà.
12 For I will be merciful toward their evil deeds, and their sins I will not remember any longer.”
Nítorí pé èmi ó ṣàánú fún àìṣòdodo wọn, àti ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wọn àti àìṣedéédéé wọn lèmi ki yóò sì rántí mọ́.”
13 By calling this covenant “new,” he declared the first covenant to be old, and what has become old and obsolete will soon disappear.
Ní èyí tí ó wí pé, májẹ̀mú títún ó ti sọ ti ìṣáájú di ti láéláé. Ṣùgbọ́n èyí tí ó ń di i ti láéláé tí ó sì ń gbó, o múra àti di asán.
