Habakkuk 2
1 I will stand at my guard post and station myself on the watchtower, and I will watch carefully to see what he will say to me and how I should turn from my complaint.
Subiré a mi torre de vigilancia y ocuparé mi lugar en la muralla de la ciudad. Vigilaré y veré qué me va a decir, y cómo responderá a mis quejas.
2 Yahweh answered me and said, “Record this vision, and write plainly on the tablets so that the one reading them might run.
Entonces el Señor me dijo: Escribe la visión, escríbela en tablas para que puedan leerla fácilmente.
3 For the vision is yet for a future time and will finally speak and not fail. Though it delays, wait for it. For it will surely come and will not tarry.
Porque la visión es para un tiempo futuro. Es sobre el fin y no miente. ¡Si parece demorarse en su cumplimiento, espera, porque sin duda llegará y no tardará!
4 Look! The one whose desires are not right within him is puffed up. But the righteous will live by his faith.
¡Mira a los orgullosos! No viven con rectitud. Pero los que viven con rectitud lo hacen mediante su confianza en Dios.
5 For wine is a betrayer of the arrogant young man so that he will not abide, but enlarges his desire like the grave and, like death, is never satisfied. He gathers to himself every nation and gathers up for himself all of the peoples. (Sheol h7585)
Además, la riqueza no brinda seguridad. Los arrogantes nunca tienen paz. Sus bocas codiciosas están abiertas como una tumba, y como la muerte nunca están satisfechos. Reúnen a las naciones como su fueran su propiedad, tragándose muchos pueblos. (Sheol h7585)
6 Will not all these create a saying to ridicule him and a taunting song about him, saying, 'Woe to the one increasing what is not his! For how long will you increase the weight of the pledges you have taken?'
¿Acaso no se burlarán de todos estos pueblos? Los ridiculizarán diciéndoles: “¡Grande es el desastre que viene sobre ustedes los que amontonan cosas que no les pertenecen! ¡Se enriquecen obligando a sus deudores a pagar! ¿Hasta cuándo podrás seguir haciendo esto?”
7 Will the ones biting at you not rise up suddenly, and the ones terrifying you awaken? You will become a victim for them.
¿Acaso crees que tus deudores no harán nada? ¿Acaso no aprovecharán la situación para hacerte temblar? ¡Serás saqueado por ellos!
8 Because you have plundered many peoples, all the remnant of the peoples will plunder you. For you have shed human blood and acted with violence against the land, the cities, and all who live in them.
Y como has saqueado a muchas naciones, los que quedan te saquearán a ti, por la sangre humana que has derramado y la destrucción que has causado en las naciones y ciudades, y en los que allí habitaban.
9 'Woe to the one who carves out evil gains for his house, so he can set his nest on high to keep himself safe from the hand of evil.'
¡Grande es el desastre que viene sobre ti, que construyes casas con ganancias deshonestas! Tú crees que puedes poner tu “nido” muy alto y que estarás seguro del desastre.
10 You have devised shame for your house by cutting off many people, and have sinned against yourself.
Tus planes malvados han traído vergüenza sobre tus familias, y al destruir muchas naciones has perdido la vida de los tuyos.
11 For the stones will cry out from the wall, and the rafters of timber will answer them,
Hasta las piedras en la pared gritan en medio de su condena, y las vigas de madera se les unen.
12 'Woe to the one who builds a city with blood, and who establishes a town in iniquity.'
¡Grande es el desastre que viene sobre ti, que construyes ciudades con derramamiento de sangre, y fundas naciones sobre los pilares de la maldad!
13 Is it not from Yahweh of hosts that peoples labor for fire and all the other nations weary themselves for nothing?
¿No ha decidido el Señor que tales naciones serán destruidas con fuego y que tales naciones se desgastan trabajando por nada?
14 Yet the land will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of Yahweh as the waters cover the sea.
Por que la tierra será llena del conocimiento de la gloria del Señor así como las aguas llenan el mar.
15 'Woe to the one who forces his neighbors to drink— you express your anger over and you make them drunk in order to look at their nakedness.'
¡Grande es el desastre que viene sobre ti, que emborrachas a tus vecinos! Tú fuerzas tu copa de ira sobre ellos y los haces beber para ver su desnudez.
16 You will be filled with shame instead of glory. Now it is your turn! Drink, and you will expose your uncircumcised foreskin! The cup in Yahweh's right hand is coming around to you, and disgrace will cover your glory.
En tu momento te llenarás de vergüenza en lugar de gloria. Bebe tú mismo y expón tu desnudez! La copa que el Señor sostiene en su mano derecha te será entregada y tu gloria se convertirá en vergüenza.
17 The violence done to Lebanon will overwhelm you and the destruction of animals will terrify you. For you have shed human blood and you have acted with violence against the land, the cities, and all who live in them.
Así como destruíste los bosques del Líbano, también serás destruido; cazaste a los animales allí y ahora ellos te cazarán a ti. Porque derramaste sangre humana y destruiste naciones y ciudades con sus habitantes.
18 What does the carved figure profit you? For the one who has carved it, or who casts a figure from molten metal, is a teacher of lies; for he trusts his own handiwork when he makes these mute gods.
¿De qué sirve un ídolo de madera tallado con manos humanas, o una imagen de metal que enseña mentira? ¿De qué sirve que sus creadores confíen en su propia obra, creando ídolos que no pueden habla?
19 'Woe to the one saying to the wood, Wake up! Or to the silent stone, Arise!' Do these things teach? See, it is overlaid with gold and silver, but there is no breath at all within it.
Grande es el desastre que viene sobre ti, que le dices a un objeto de madera: “¡Levántate!” o a una piedra inerte: “¡Ponte de pie!” ¿Puede acaso enseñarte algo? ¡Míralo! Está cubierto en oro y plata, pero no hay vida en su interior.
20 But Yahweh is in his holy temple! Be silent before him, all the land.”
Pero el Señor está en su santo Templo. Que toda la tierra calle ante su presencia.
