< Habakkuk 1 >

1 The message that Habakkuk the prophet received,
Pa inge mwe fahkak su LEUM GOD El akkalemye nu sin mwet palu Habakkuk.
2 “Yahweh, how long will I cry for help, and you will not hear? I cry out to you, 'Violence!' but you will not save.
O LEUM GOD, lusa kac pacl nga ac pang in suk kasru na kom fah lohngyu, ac nga ac tung putaka na kom fah molikutla liki mwe keok?
3 Why do you make me see iniquity and look upon wrongdoing? Destruction and violence are before me; there is strife, and contention rises up.
Efu ku kom oru ngan liye kain in mwe lokoalok inge? Efu ku kom ku in muteng kain orekma sufal inge? Mwe kunausla ac mwe keok rauniyuyak, ac oasr amei ac anwuk orek yen nukewa.
4 Therefore the law is weakened, and justice does not last for any time. For the wicked surround the righteous; therefore false justice goes out.”
Ma sap uh munasla ac wanginla sripa, ac nununku suwohs tiana orek. Mwet koluk uh kutangla mwet wo, ouinge nununku suwohs ikilyukelik.
5 “Look at the nations and examine them; be amazed and astonished! For I am surely about to do something in your days that you will not believe when it is reported to you.
Na LEUM GOD El fahk nu sin mwet lal, “Suiyana mutunfacl su raunikowosyak, ac kowos fah fwefela ke ma kowos liye. Nga ac oru sie ma, ac kowos ac tia lulalfongi ke kowos ac lohngak uh.
6 For look! I am about to raise up the Chaldeans—that fierce and impetuous nation— they are marching throughout the breadth of the land to seize homes that were not their own.
Nga ac sang ku nu sin mwet Babylonia tuh elos in leumi mutunfacl uh. Mwet inge mwet na sulallal ac irpit. Elos oatula som sasla faclu in kutangla acn saya.
7 They are terrifying and fearsome; their judgment and splendor proceed from themselves.
Elos akyokyelik sangeng ac tuninfong, ac in nunak fulat lalos elos tiana akilen kutena ma sap sayen ma elos lungse oru.
8 Their horses also are swifter than leopards, quicker than the evening wolves. So their horses stamp, and their horsemen come from a great distance—they fly like an eagle hurrying to eat.
“Horse natulos uh mui liki kosro leopard, ac sulallal liki wolf masrinsralla uh. Mwet kasrusr fin horse lalos tuku yen loesla me. Horse natulos kihling infohk uh. Elos pwesroulme oana luman won eagle ke elos putati in sruokya ma nalos.
9 They all come for violence; their multitudes go like the desert wind, and they gather captives like sand.
“Mwet mweun lalos sikla ac sulallal in anwuk, ac mwet e nukewa elos tuninfongla ke elos ac sikme uh. Pisen mwet elos sruokya uh pukanten oana puhk uh.
10 So they mock kings, and rulers are only a mockery for them. They laugh at every stronghold, for they heap up earth and take them.
Elos aklusrongtenye tokosra uh ac isrun mwet leum. Wangin pot ku ac ku in sikululosi — elos ac yolsani fohk uh nu pe pot uh, fanyak kac ac eisla acn uh.
11 Then the wind will rush on; it will move past—guilty men, those whose might is their god.”
Na elos ac tuhyak oana eng uh sasla som. Mwet inge oru mu ku lalos uh pa god lalos.”
12 “Are you not from ancient times, Yahweh my God, my Holy One? We will not die. Yahweh has ordained them for judgment, and you, Rock, have established them for correction.
O LEUM GOD, nuna kom na pa God oe ke mutawauk ah me. Kom God luk, su mutal ac moul ma pahtpat. LEUM GOD luk ac Mwet Lango luk, kom sulela mwet Babylonia ac sang ku nu selos elos in mau ku in kalyei kut.
13 Your eyes are too pure to gaze upon evil, and you are not able to look on wrongdoing with favor; why then have you looked favorably on those who betray? Why are you silent while the wicked swallow up those more righteous than they are?
Tusruktu, efu ku kom ku in muteng orekma lun mwet koluk inge? Motom arulana mutalla in liye ma koluk, ac kom arulana srunga liye ke mwet uh oru ma koluk. Ke ma inge efu ku kom mislana ke elos kunausla mwet su arulana suwohs lukelos?
14 You make men like fish in the sea, like creeping things without a ruler over them.
Efu ku kom ku in oru mwet uh oana ik uh, ku oana ma orakrak ma wangin leum lalos?
15 He brings all of them up with a fishhook; he drags men away in his fishnet; he gathers them together in his dragnet; so he rejoices and he is glad.
Mwet Babylonia orekmakin ka in sruokya mwet uh, oana ik uh. Elos amakunulos in nwek natulos, ac sasa ke engankinyen ma elos sruokya!
16 Therefore he sacrifices to his net and burns incense to his dragnet, for by his net he lives in luxury, and his food is the richest kind.
Elos alyalu pacna nu ke nwek natulos ac orek kisa nu kac, mweyen nwek natulos uh pa sang mwe insewowo nu selos.
17 Will he therefore keep emptying his net, and will he continually slaughter the nations without mercy?”
Ya elos ac orekmakinna cutlass natulos nwe tok, ac nuna kunausna mutanfahl uh ac tia pakomuta?
