Genesis 35
1 God said to Jacob, “Arise, go up to Bethel, and stay there. Build an altar there to God, who appeared to you when you fled from Esau your brother.”
അനന്തരം ദൈവം യാക്കോബിനോടു: നീ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ബേഥേലിൽ ചെന്നു പാർക്ക; നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ ഏശാവിന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു നീ ഓടിപ്പോകുമ്പോൾ നിനക്കു പ്രത്യക്ഷനായ ദൈവത്തിന്നു അവിടെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം ഉണ്ടാക്കുക എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു.
2 Then Jacob said to his household and to all who were with him, “Put away the foreign gods that are among you, purify yourselves, and change your clothes.
അപ്പോൾ യാക്കോബ് തന്റെ കുടുംബത്തോടും കൂടെയുള്ള എല്ലാവരോടും: നിങ്ങളുടെ ഇടയിലുള്ള അന്യദേവന്മാരെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങളെ ശുദ്ധീകരിച്ചു വസ്ത്രം മാറുവിൻ.
3 Then let us depart and go up to Bethel. I will build an altar there to God, who answered me in the day of my distress, and has been with me wherever I have gone.”
നാം പുറപ്പെട്ടു ബേഥേലിലേക്കു പോക; എന്റെ കഷ്ടകാലത്തു എന്റെ പ്രാർത്ഥന കേൾക്കയും ഞാൻ പോയ വഴിയിൽ എന്നോടു കൂടെയിരിക്കയും ചെയ്ത ദൈവത്തിന്നു ഞാൻ അവിടെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം ഉണ്ടാക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4 So they gave to Jacob all the foreign gods that were in their hand, and the rings that were in their ears. Jacob buried them under the oak that was near Shechem.
അങ്ങനെ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പക്കലുള്ള അന്യദേവന്മാരെ ഒക്കെയും കാതുകളിലെ കുണുക്കുകളെയും യാക്കോബിന്റെ പക്കൽ കൊടുത്തു; യാക്കോബ് അവയെ ശെഖേമിന്നരികെയുള്ള കരുവേലകത്തിൻ കീഴിൽ കുഴിച്ചിട്ടു.
5 As they traveled, God made panic to fall on the cities that were around them, so those people did not pursue the sons of Jacob.
പിന്നെ അവർ യാത്രപുറപ്പെട്ടു; അവരുടെ ചുറ്റുമിരുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങളുടെ മേൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ഭീതി വീണതുകൊണ്ടു യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെ ആരും പിന്തുടർന്നില്ല.
6 So Jacob arrived at Luz (that is, Bethel), which is in the land of Canaan, he and all the people who were with him.
യാക്കോബും കൂടെയുള്ള ജനമൊക്കെയും കനാൻദേശത്തിലെ ലൂസ് എന്ന ബേഥേലിൽ എത്തി.
7 He built an altar there and called the place El Bethel, because there God had revealed himself to him, when he was fleeing from his brother.
അവിടെ അവൻ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു; തന്റെ സഹോദരന്റെ മുമ്പിൽനിന്നു ഓടിപ്പോകുമ്പോൾ അവന്നു അവിടെവെച്ചു ദൈവം പ്രത്യക്ഷനായതുകൊണ്ടു അവൻ ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു ഏൽ-ബേഥേൽ എന്നു പേർ വിളിച്ചു.
8 Deborah, Rebekah's nurse, died. She was buried down from Bethel under the oak tree, so it was called Allon Bakuth.
റിബെക്കയുടെ ധാത്രിയായ ദെബോരാ മരിച്ചു, അവളെ ബേഥേലിന്നു താഴെ ഒരു കരുവേലകത്തിൻ കീഴിൽ അടക്കി; അതിന്നു അല്ലോൻ-ബാഖൂത്ത് (വിലാപവൃക്ഷം) എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
9 When Jacob came from Paddan Aram, God appeared to him again and blessed him.
യാക്കോബ് പദ്ദൻ-അരാമിൽനിന്നു വന്ന ശേഷം ദൈവം അവന്നു പിന്നെയും പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി അവനെ അനുഗ്രഹിച്ചു.
10 God said to him, “Your name is Jacob, but your name will no longer be called Jacob. Your name will be Israel.” So God called his name Israel.
ദൈവം അവനോടു: നിന്റെ പേർ യാക്കോബ് എന്നല്ലോ; ഇനി നിനക്കു യാക്കോബ് എന്നല്ല യിസ്രായേൽ എന്നു തന്നെ പേരാകേണം എന്നു കല്പിച്ചു അവന്നു യിസ്രായേൽ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
11 God said to him, “I am God Almighty. Be fruitful and multiply. A nation and a company of nations will come from you, and kings will be among your descendants.
ദൈവം പിന്നെയും അവനോടു: ഞാൻ സർവ്വശക്തിയുള്ള ദൈവം ആകുന്നു; നീ സന്താനപുഷ്ടിയുള്ളവനായി പെരുകുക; ഒരു ജാതിയും ജാതികളുടെ കൂട്ടവും നിന്നിൽ നിന്നു ഉത്ഭവിക്കും; രാജാക്കന്മാരും നിന്റെ കടിപ്രദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടും.
12 The land that I gave to Abraham and Isaac, I will give to you. To your descendants after you I also give the land.”
ഞാൻ അബ്രാഹാമിന്നും യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്നും കൊടുത്തദേശം നിനക്കു തരും; നിന്റെ ശേഷം നിന്റെ സന്തതിക്കും ഈ ദേശം കൊടുക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
13 God went up from him in the place where he spoke with him.
അവനോടു സംസാരിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തുനിന്നു ദൈവം അവനെ വിട്ടു കയറിപ്പോയി.
14 Jacob set up a pillar in the place where God had spoken to him, a pillar of stone. He poured out a drink offering over it and poured oil on it.
അവൻ തന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ചേടത്തു യാക്കോബ് ഒരു കൽത്തൂൺ നിർത്തി; അതിന്മേൽ ഒരു പാനീയയാഗം ഒഴിച്ചു എണ്ണയും പകർന്നു.
15 Jacob called the name of the place where God spoke with him, Bethel.
ദൈവം തന്നോടു സംസാരിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു യാക്കോബ് ബേഥേൽ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
16 They journeyed on from Bethel. While they were still some distance from Ephrath, Rachel went into labor. She had hard labor.
അവർ ബേഥേലിൽനിന്നു യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു; എഫ്രാത്തയിൽ എത്തുവാൻ അല്പദൂരം മാത്രമുള്ളപ്പോൾ റാഹേൽ പ്രസവിച്ചു; പ്രസവിക്കുമ്പോൾ അവൾക്കു കഠിന വേദനയുണ്ടായി.
17 While she was in hardest labor, the midwife said to her, “Do not be afraid, for now you will have another son.”
അങ്ങനെ പ്രസവത്തിൽ അവൾക്കു കഠിനവേദനയായിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ സൂതികർമ്മിണി അവളോടു: ഭയപ്പെടേണ്ടാ; ഇതും ഒരു മകനായിരിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
18 As she was dying, with her dying breath she named him Ben-Oni, but his father called him Benjamin.
എന്നാൽ അവൾ മരിച്ചുപോയി; ജീവൻ പോകുന്ന സമയം അവൾ അവന്നു ബെനോനീ എന്നു പേർ ഇട്ടു; അവന്റെ അപ്പനോ അവന്നു ബെന്യാമീൻ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
19 Rachel died and was buried on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
റാഹേൽ മരിച്ചിട്ടു അവളെ ബേത്ത്ലേഹെം എന്ന എഫ്രാത്തിന്നു പോകുന്ന വഴിയിൽ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു.
20 Jacob set up a pillar upon her grave. It is the marker of Rachel's grave to this day.
അവളുടെ കല്ലറയിന്മേൽ യാക്കോബ് ഒരു തൂൺ നിർത്തി അതു റാഹേലിന്റെ കല്ലറത്തൂൺ എന്ന പേരോടെ ഇന്നുവരെയും നില്ക്കുന്നു.
21 Israel traveled on and pitched his tent beyond the watchtower of the flock.
പിന്നെ യിസ്രായേൽ യാത്ര പുറപ്പെട്ടു, ഏദെർഗോപുരത്തിന്നു അപ്പുറം കൂടാരം അടിച്ചു.
22 While Israel was living in that land, Reuben slept with Bilhah his father's concubine, and Israel heard of it. Now Jacob had twelve sons.
യിസ്രായേൽ ആ ദേശത്തു പാർത്തിരിക്കുമ്പോൾ രൂബേൻ ചെന്നു തന്റെ അപ്പന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടിയായ ബിൽഹയോടുകൂടെ ശയിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേൽ അതുകേട്ടു.
23 His sons by Leah were Reuben, Jacob's firstborn, and Simeon, Levi, Judah, Issachar, and Zebulun.
യാക്കോബിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ പന്ത്രണ്ടു പേരായിരുന്നു. ലേയയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ: യാക്കോബിന്റെ ആദ്യജാതൻ രൂബേൻ, ശിമെയോൻ, ലേവി, യെഹൂദാ, യിസ്സാഖാർ, സെബൂലൂൻ.
24 His sons by Rachel were Joseph and Benjamin.
റാഹേലിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ: യോസേഫും ബെന്യാമീനും.
25 His sons by Bilhah, Rachel's female servant, were Dan and Naphtali.
റാഹേലിന്റെ ദാസിയായ ബിൽഹയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ: ദാനും നഫ്താലിയും.
26 The sons of Zilpah, Leah's female servant, were Gad and Asher. All these were the sons of Jacob who were born to him in Paddan Aram.
ലേയയുടെ ദാസിയായ സില്പയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ; ഗാദും ആശേരും. ഇവർ യാക്കോബിന്നു പദ്ദൻ-അരാമിൽവെച്ചു ജനിച്ച പുത്രന്മാർ.
27 Jacob came to Isaac, his father, in Mamre in Kiriath Arba (the same as Hebron), where Abraham and Isaac had lived.
പിന്നെ യാക്കോബ് കിര്യാത്തർബ്ബാ എന്ന മമ്രേയിൽ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ അടുക്കൽ വന്നു; അബ്രാഹാമും യിസ്ഹാക്കും പാർത്തിരുന്ന ഹെബ്രോൻ ഇതു തന്നേ.
28 Isaac lived for one hundred eighty years.
യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ആയുസ്സു നൂറ്റെണ്പതു സംവത്സരമായിരുന്നു.
29 Isaac breathed his last and died, and was gathered to his ancestors, an old man full of days. Esau and Jacob, his sons, buried him.
യിസ്ഹാക്ക് വയോധികനും കാലസമ്പൂർണ്ണനുമായി പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു മരിച്ചു തന്റെ ജനത്തോടു ചേർന്നു; അവന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ ഏശാവും യാക്കോബും കൂടി അവനെ അടക്കംചെയ്തു.
