1 These are the people in the province who went up from the captivity of King Nebuchadnezzar, who had exiled them in Babylon, the people who returned to each of their cities of Jerusalem and in Judea.
Now these are the children of the province who went up out of the captivity of the exiles, whom Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon had carried away into exile unto Babylon, and who returned unto Jerusalem and Judah, every one unto his city;
2 They came with Zerubbabel, Joshua, Nehemiah, Seraiah, Reelaiah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Mispar, Bigvai, Rehum, and Baanah. This is the record of the men of the people of Israel.
Who came with Zerubbabel, Jeshua', Nehemiah, Serayah, Re'elayah, Mordecai, Bilshan, Misspar, Bigvai, Rechum, Ba'anah. The number of the men of the people of Israel was:

The children of Par'osh, two thousand one hundred seventy and two.
4 The descendants of Shephatiah: 372.
The children of Shephatyah, three hundred seventy and two.
5 The descendants of Arah: 775.
The children of Arach, seven hundred seventy and five.
6 The descendants of Pahath-Moab, through Jeshua and Joab: 2,812.

7 The descendants of Elam: 1,254.
The children of 'Elath, one thousand two hundred fifty and four.

38 Pashhur's descendants: 1,247.
The children of Pashchur, one thousand two hundred forty and seven.
39 Harim's descendants: 1,017.
The children of Charim, one thousand and seventeen.
40 The Levites: descendants of Jeshua and Kadmiel, descendants of Hodaviah: seventy-four.
The Levites were: The children of Jeshua, and Kadmiel, of the children of Hodavyah, seventy and four.
41 The temple singers, descendants of Asaph: 128.
The singers were: The children of Assaph, one hundred twenty and eight.
42 The descendants of the gatekeepers: descendants of Shallum, Ater, Talmon, Akkub, Hatita, and Shobai: 139 total.
The children of the gate-keepers were: The children of Shallum, the children of Ater, the children of Talmon, the children of 'Akkub, the children of Chatita, the children of Shobai, in all one hundred thirty and nine.
43 Those who were assigned to serve in the temple: descendants of Ziha, Hasupha, Tabbaoth,
The temple-servants were: The children of Zicha, the children of Chassupha, the children of Tabba'oth.
44 Keros, Siaha, Padon,
The children of Keross, the children of Si'aha, the children of Padon.
45 Lebanah, Hagabah, Akkub,
The children of Lebanah, the children of Chagabah, the children of 'Akkub.
46 Hagab, Shalmai, and Hanan.
The children of Chagab, the children of Shalmai, the children of Chanan.
47 The descendants of Giddel: Gahar, Reaiah,
The children of Giddel, the children of Gachar, the children of Reayah.
48 Rezin, Nekoda, Gazzam,
The children of Rezin, the children of Nekoda, the children of Gazzam.
49 Uzza, Paseah, Besai,

55 The descendants of Solomon's servants: descendants of Sotai, Hassophereth, Peruda,
The children of Solomon's servants were: The children of Sotai, the children of Sophereth, the children of Peruda.
56 Jaalah, Darkon, Giddel,
The children of Ja'alah, the children of Darkon, the children of Giddel.
57 Shephatiah, Hattil, Pochereth Hazzebaim, and Ami.
The children of Shephatyah, the children of Chattil, the children of Pochereth-hazzebayim, the children of Ami.
58 There were 392 total descendants of those assigned to serve in the temple and descendants of Solomon's servants.
All the temple-servants, and the children of Solomon's servants, were three hundred and ninety and two.
59 Those who left Tel Melah, Tel Harsha, Kerub, Addon, and Immer—but were not able to prove their ancestry from Israel
And these are those who went up from Thel-melach, Thelcharsha, Kerub, Addan, and Immer; but they could not tell their family division, and their descent, whether they were of Israel:
60 —included 652 descendants of Delaiah, Tobiah, and Nekoda.
The children of Delayah the children of Tobiyah, the children of Nekoda, six hundred fifty and two.
61 Also, from the priest's descendants: the descendants of Habaiah, Hakkoz, and Barzillai (who took his wife from the daughters of Barzillai of Gilead and was called by their name).
And of the children of the priests: The children of Chabayah, the children of Hakkoz, the children of Barzillai, who had taken a wife from the daughters of Barzillai the Gil'adite, and was called after their name.
62 They searched for their genealogical records, but could not find them, so they were excluded from the priesthood as unclean.
These sought for their family-registers, but they were not found: wherefore they were excluded, as unfit, from the priesthood.
63 So the governor told them they must not eat any of the holy sacrifices until a priest with Urim and Thummim approved.
And the Thirshatha said unto them, that they should not eat of the most holy things, till there should stand up a priest with the Urim and Thummim.
64 The whole group totaled 42,360,
The whole congregation together was forty and two thousand three hundred and sixty.
65 not including their servants and their maidservants (these were 7,337) and their male and female temple singers (two hundred).
Besides their men-servants and their maid-servants, of whom there were seven thousand three hundred thirty and seven: they had also two hundred singing men and singing women.
66 Their horses: 736. Their mules: 245.
Their horses were seven hundred thirty and six; their mules, two hundred forty and five;
67 Their camels: 435. Their donkeys: 6,720.
Their camels, four hundred thirty and five; their asses, six thousand seven hundred and twenty.
68 When they went to Yahweh's house in Jerusalem, the chief patriarchs offered freewill gifts to build the house.
And some of the chiefs of the divisions, when they came to the house of the Lord which is at Jerusalem, offered freewill gifts for the house of God to set it up in its place:
69 They gave according to their ability to the work fund: sixty-one thousand gold darics, five thousand silver minas, and one hundred priestly tunics.
After their ability they gave unto the treasure for the work sixty and one thousand drachms of gold, and five thousand manehs of sliver, and one hundred coats for the priests.
70 So the priests and Levites, the people, the temple singers and gatekeepers, and those assigned to serve in the temple inhabited their cities. All the people in Israel were in their cities.
And the priests, and the Levites, and some of the people, and the singers, and the gate-keepers, and the temple-servants, dwelt in their cities, and all Israel in their cities.
