Ezekiel 31
1 Then it came about in the eleventh year, in the third month, on the first day of the month, that the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
E sucedeu, no décimo primeiro ano, no terceiro [mês], ao primeiro [dia] do mês, que veio a mim a palavra do SENHOR, dizendo:
2 “Son of man, say to Pharaoh, the king of Egypt, and to his multitudes around him, 'In your greatness, who are you like?
Filho do homem, diz a Faraó, rei do Egito, e à sua multidão: A quem és semelhante na tua grandeza?
3 Behold! Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon with beautiful branches, giving shade to the forest, and the tallest in height, and the branches formed its treetop.
Eis que a Assíria era um cedro do Líbano, de belos ramos, com grande sombra de sua folhagem, e de alta estatura; seu topo estava entre ramos espessos.
4 Many waters made it tall; the deep waters made it huge. Rivers flowed all around its area, for their channels stretched out to all the trees in the field.
As águas o nutriam, as profundezas o faziam crescer; correntes corriam ao redor de onde estava plantada, e enviava seus ribeiros a todas as árvores do campo.
5 Its great height was more than any of the other trees in the field, and its branches became very many; its branches grew long because of many waters as they grew.
Por isso sua altura se elevou acima de todas as árvores do campo; seus galhos se multiplicaram, e seus ramos se alongavam, por causa das muitas águas enviadas.
6 Every bird of the heavens nested in its branches, while every living thing of the field gave birth to its young under its foliage. All of the many nations lived under its shade.
Todas as aves do céus faziam ninhos em seus galhos, e todos os animais do campo geravam debaixo de seus ramos; e todos os grandes povos habitavam à sua sombra.
7 For it was beautiful in its greatness and the length of its branches, for its roots were in many waters.
Assim era ele, belo em sua grandeza, na extensão de seus ramos; porque sua raiz estava junto a muitas águas.
8 Cedars in the garden of God could not equal it. None among the cypress trees matched its branches, and the plane tree could not equal its boughs. There was no other tree in the garden of God that was like it in its beauty.
Os cedros não o encobriram no jardim de Deus; as faias não igualavam os seus galhos, nem os plátanos eram semelhantes a seus ramos; nenhuma árvore no jardim de Deus se assemelhava a ele em sua beleza.
9 I made it beautiful with its many branches and all the trees of Eden that were in the garden of God envied it.
Eu o fiz belo com a multidão de seus ramos; e todas as árvores do Éden, que estavam no jardim de Deus, tiveram inveja dele.
10 Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this: Because it was tall in height, and it set its treetop between its branches, it lifted up its heart because of its height.
Portanto, assim diz o Senhor DEUS: Visto que te elevaste em estatura, e seu topo se elevou no meio de ramos espessos, e seu coração se exaltou na sua altura,
11 I have given it into the hand of a mighty one of the nations, to deal with it according to what its wickedness deserves. I have thrown it out.
Por isso eu o entreguei na mão do mais poderoso das nações, para que o tratasse como merece; pela sua perversidade eu o lancei fora.
12 Foreigners who were the terror of all the nations cut it off and left it to die. Its branches fell on the mountains and all the valleys, and its boughs lay broken in all the ravines of the land. Then all the nations on earth came out from under its shade and they went away from it.
Estrangeiros da mais terrivel das nações o cortaram e o deixaram; seus ramos caíram sobre os montes e por todos os vales, e seus galhos foram quebrados por todas as correntes de águas da terra; e todos os povos da terra se retiraram de sua sombra, e o deixaram.
13 All the birds of the sky rested on the trunk of the fallen tree, and every animal of the field came to its branches.
Todas as aves do céu habitaram sobre sua ruína, e todos os animais do campo se ficaram sobre seus ramos;
14 This happened so that no other trees that grow by the waters will lift up their foliage to the height of the tallest trees, and that no other trees that grow beside the waters will reach up to that height. All of them have been assigned to death, to the earth below, among the children of humanity, with those that go down to the pit.
Para que todas as árvores próximas das águas não se elevem na sua estatura, nem levantem o seu topo no meio dos ramos espessos, e que todas as que bebem águas não confiem em si mesmas por sua altura; porque todas estão entregues à morte, até debaixo da terra, no meio dos filhos dos homens, com os que vão para a cova.
15 The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day when the cedar went down to Sheol I brought mourning to the earth. I covered the deep waters over it, and I held back the ocean waters. I kept back the great waters, and I brought mourning to Lebanon for him. So all the trees of the field mourned because of it. (Sheol h7585)
Assim diz o Senhor DEUS: No dia em que ele desceu ao Xeol, eu fiz que houvesse luto, fiz cobrir as profundezas por sua causa; detive suas correntes, e as muitas águas foram retidas; cobri o Líbano de trevas por causa dele, e por sua causa todas as árvores do campo definharam. (Sheol h7585)
16 I brought shuddering to the nations at the sound of its downfall, when I threw it down to Sheol with those who went down into the pit. So I comforted all the trees of Eden in the lowest parts of the earth. These had been the choicest and best trees of Lebanon; the trees that drank the waters. (Sheol h7585)
Do estrondo de sua queda eu fiz tremer as nações, quando o fiz descer ao Xeol com os que descem à cova; e todas as árvores de Éden, as preferidas e melhores do Líbano, todas as que bebem águas, consolaram-se debaixo da terra. (Sheol h7585)
17 For they also went down with it to Sheol, to the ones who had been killed by the sword. These were its strong arm, those nations who had lived in its shade. (Sheol h7585)
Também desceram com ele ao Xeol, com os mortos à espada, e os que foram seus apoiadores, os que habitavam à sua sombra no meio das nações. (Sheol h7585)
18 Which of the trees in Eden was your equal in glory and greatness? For you will be brought down with the trees of Eden to the lowest parts of the earth among the uncircumcised; you will live with those who were killed by the sword.' This is Pharaoh and all of his multitudes—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.”
Quem se assemelha a ti em glória e em grandeza entre as árvores do Éden? Porém serás derrubado com as árvores do Éden para debaixo da terra; jazerás entre os incircuncisos, com os mortos à espada. Este é Faraó e toda a sua multidão, diz o Senhor DEUS.
