Ezekiel 20

1 It came about in the seventh year, on the tenth day of the fifth month, that elders of Israel came to inquire of Yahweh and sat before me.

I det syvende Aar paa den tiende Dag i den femte Maaned kom nogle af Israels Ældste for at raadspørge HERREN, og de satte sig lige over for mig.

2 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

Saa kom HERRENS Ord til mig saaledes:

3 “Son of man, declare to the elders of Israel and say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Have you come to inquire of me? As I live, I will not be inquired of by you!—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'

Menneskesøn, tal til Israels Ældste og sig: Saa siger den Herre HERREN: Kommer I for at raadspørge mig? Saa sandt jeg lever: Jeg lader mig ikke raadspørge af eder, lyder det fra den Herre HERREN.

4 Will you judge them? Will you judge, son of man? Let them know about their fathers' abominations.

Vil du dømme dem, vil du dømme, Menneskesøn? Saa forehold dem deres Fædres Vederstyggeligheder

5 Say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: On the day that I chose Israel and raised my hand to swear an oath to the descendants of the house of Jacob, and made myself known to them in the land of Egypt, when I raised my hand to swear an oath to them. I said, “I am Yahweh your God”—

og sig til dem: Saa siger den Herre HERREN: Dengang jeg udvalgte Israel, løftede jeg min Haand til Ed for Jakobs Hus's Afkom og gav mig til Kende for dem i Ægypten; jeg løftede min Haand for dem og svor: Jeg er HERREN eders Gud.

6 on that day I raised my hand to swear an oath to them that I would bring them out of the land of Egypt into a land that I had carefully selected for them. It was flowing with milk and honey; it was the most beautiful ornament among all the lands.

Dengang løftede jeg min Haand og tilsvor dem, at jeg vilde føre dem ud af Ægypten til Landet, jeg havde givet dem, et Land, der flyder med Mælk og Honning, det dejligste af alle Lande.

7 I said to them, “Let each man throw away the detestable things from before his eyes and the idols of Egypt. Do not make yourselves unclean; I am Yahweh your God.”

Og jeg sagde til dem: Enhver skal bortkaste sine væmmelige Guder, som hans Øjne hænger ved; og I maa ikke gøre eder urene ved Ægyptens Afgudsbilleder. Jeg, HERREN, er eders Gud!

8 But they rebelled against me and were unwilling to listen to me. Each man did not throw away the detestable things from before his eyes nor forsake the idols of Egypt, so I determined to pour out my fury upon them to satisfy my wrath among them in the middle of the land of Egypt.

Men de var genstridige imod mig og vilde ikke høre mig; de bortkastede ikke deres væmmelige Guder, som deres Øjne hang ved, og lod ikke Ægyptens Afgudsbilleder fare. Saa tænkte jeg paa at udøse min Vrede over dem og køle min Harme paa dem midt i Ægypten.

9 I acted for my name's sake so it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations among whom they were staying. I made myself known to them, in their eyes, by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

For mit Navns Skyld greb jeg dog ind, at det ikke skulde vanæres for de Folks Øjne, blandt hvilke de levede, og i hvis Paasyn jeg havde aabenbaret mig for dem, idet jeg førte dem ud af Ægypten.

10 So I sent them out of the land of Egypt and brought them into the wilderness.

Saa førte jeg dem ud af Ægypten og bragte dem ud i Ørkenen;

11 Then I gave them my statutes and made my decrees known to them, by which a man will live if he obeys them.

og jeg gav dem mine Anordninger og kundgjorde dem mine Lovbud; det Menneske, som gør efter dem, skal leve ved dem.

12 I also gave them my Sabbaths as a sign between myself and them, for them to know that I am Yahweh who makes them holy.

Ogsaa mine Sabbater gav jeg dem, for at de skulde være et Tegn mellem mig og dem, at det skal kendes, at jeg, HERREN, er den, som helliger dem.

13 But the house of Israel rebelled against me in the wilderness. They did not walk in my statutes; instead, they rejected my decrees, by which a man will live if he obeys them. They greatly profaned my Sabbaths, so I said I would pour out my fury upon them in the wilderness in order to end them.

Men Israels Hus var genstridigt imod mig i Ørkenen; de vandrede ikke efter mine Anordninger, men lod haant om mine Lovbud — det Menneske, som gør efter dem, skal leve ved dem — og mine Sabbater vanhelligede de grovelig. Saa tænkte jeg paa at udøse min Vrede over dem i Ørkenen og tilintetgøre dem.

14 But I acted for my name's sake so it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations, in whose sight I had brought them out of Egypt.

For mit Navns Skyld greb jeg dog ind, at det ikke skulde vanæres for de Folks Øjne, i hvis Paasyn jeg havde ført dem ud.

15 So I myself also raised my hand to swear an oath to them in the wilderness not to bring them into the land that I had been going to give them, a land flowing with milk and honey, which was the most beautiful ornament among all the lands.

Og jeg løftede min Haand for dem i Ørkenen og svor, at jeg ikke vilde føre dem ind i det Land, jeg havde givet dem, et Land, der flyder med Mælk og Honning, det dejligste af alle Lande,

16 I swore this because they had rejected my decrees and did not walk in my statutes, and they profaned my Sabbaths, since their hearts walked after their idols.

fordi de lod haant om mine Lovbud og ikke vandrede efter mine Anordninger, men vanhelligede mine Sabbater; thi deres Hjerte holdt sig til deres Afgudsbilleder.

17 But my eye spared them from their destruction and I did not annihilate them in the wilderness.

Jeg havde Medlidenhed med dem, saa jeg ikke tilintetgjorde dem; jeg gjorde ikke Ende paa dem i Ørkenen.

18 I said to their children in the wilderness, “Do not walk in the statutes of your fathers, or keep their rules, or defile yourselves with their idols.

Saa sagde jeg til deres Sønner i Ørkenen: Følg ikke eders Fædres Anordninger, hold ikke deres Lovbud og gør eder ikke urene med deres Afgudsbilleder.

19 I am Yahweh your God, walk in my statutes; keep my decrees and obey them.

Jeg, HERREN, er eders Gud! Følg mine Anordninger og tag Vare paa at holde mine Lovbud;

20 Keep my Sabbaths holy so that they will be a sign between me and you, so that you will know that I am Yahweh your God.”

hold mine Sabbater hellige, saa de bliver et Tegn mellem mig og eder, at det maa kendes, at jeg, HERREN, er eders Gud.

21 But their sons and daughters rebelled against me. They did not walk in my statutes or keep my decrees, by which a man might live if he obeys them. They profaned my Sabbaths, so I determined to pour out my fury upon them to satisfy my wrath against them in the wilderness.

Men ogsaa Sønnerne var genstridige imod mig; de fulgte ikke mine Anordninger og tog ikke Vare paa at holde mine Lovbud — det Menneske, som gør efter dem, skal leve ved dem — og vanhelligede mine Sabbater. Saa tænkte jeg paa at udøse min Harme over dem og køle min Vrede paa dem i Ørkenen.

22 But I turned my hand away and acted for my name's sake, so it would not be profaned in the eyes of the nations in whose sight I had brought out the Israelites.

Dog holdt jeg min Haand tilbage, og jeg greb ind for mit Navns Skyld, at det ikke skulde vanæres for de Folks Øjne, i hvis Paasyn jeg havde ført dem ud.

23 I myself also lifted up my hand to swear to them in the wilderness, that I would scatter them among the nations and disperse them among the lands.

Jeg løftede min Haand for dem i Ørkenen og svor, at jeg vilde sprede dem blandt Folkene og udstrø dem i Landene,

24 I decided to do this since they had not obeyed my decrees, and since they had rejected my statutes and profaned my Sabbaths. Their eyes were longing after their fathers' idols.

fordi de ikke holdt mine Lovbud, men lod haant om mine Anordninger og vanhelligede mine Sabbater, og deres Øjne hang ved deres Fædres Afgudsbilleder.

25 Then I also gave them statutes that were not good, and decrees by which they could not live.

Derfor gav jeg dem Anordninger, som ikke er gode, og Lovbud ved hvilke de ikke vandt Liv;

26 I declared them to be unclean through their gifts—they made a sacrifice of every firstborn of the womb and caused them to pass through the fire—that I might fill them with horror so they will know that I am Yahweh!'

jeg gjorde dem urene ved deres Gaver, idet de lod alt hvad der aabner Moders Liv, gaa igennem Ilden; thi jeg vilde have dem til at stivne af Rædsel, at de maatte kende, at jeg er HERREN.

27 Therefore, son of man, speak to the house of Israel and say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: In this also your fathers blasphemed me when they were unfaithful to me.

Derfor, Menneskesøn, tal til Israels Hus og sig til dem: Saa siger den Herre HERREN: Eders Fædre haanede mig ydermere ved at være troløse imod mig.

28 When I brought them into the land that I had sworn to give them, and then whenever they saw any high hill and leafy tree, they offered their sacrifices, they provoked me by their offerings, and there they also burned their fragrant incense and poured out their drink offerings.

Jeg bragte dem til det Land jeg med løftet Haand havde svoret at give dem; men hver Gang de saa en høj Bakke eller et løvrigt Træ ofrede de der deres Slagtofre og bragte deres krænkende Offergave; der beredte de deres liflige Duft og udgød deres Drikofre.

29 Then I said to them, “What is this high place where you bring offerings there?” So the name is called Bamah to this day.'

Da sagde jeg til dem: »Hvad er det for en Offerhøj, I gaar hen til?« Og derfor bærer den endnu den Dag i Dag Navnet Offerhøj.

30 Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Why do you make yourselves unclean with the ways of your fathers? So why do you act like prostitutes, searching for disgusting things?

Sig derfor til Israels Hus: Saa siger den Herre HERREN: Gør I eder ikke urene paa eders Fædres Vis og boler med deres væmmelige Guder?

31 When you offer up your gifts—when you cause your sons to pass through the fire—to this day you defile yourselves with all your idols. So why should I let you seek me, house of Israel? As I live—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—I will not allow you to seek me.

Ja, naar I bringer eders Gaver, naar I lader eders Sønner gaa igennem Ilden, gør I eder den Dag i Dag urene til Ære for alle eders Afgudsbilleder — og saa skulde jeg lade mig raadspørge af eder, Israels Hus? Saa sandt jeg lever, lyder det fra den Herre HERREN: Jeg lader mig ikke raadspørge af eder!

32 The thought that is forming in your mind will never happen. You say, “Let us be like the other nations, like the clans in the other lands who worship wood and stone.”

Hvad der er kommet op i eders Sind, skal visselig ikke ske; I siger: »Vi vil være som Folkene, som Slægterne i andre Lande og dyrke Træ og Sten!«

33 As I live—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—I will certainly reign over you with a mighty hand, a raised arm, and fury that will be poured out on you.

Saa sandt jeg lever, lyder det fra den Herre HERREN: Med stærk Haand og udstrakt Arm og udøst Vrede vil jeg vise, at jeg er eders Konge.

34 I will bring you out from the other peoples and will gather you out of the countries among whom you have been scattered. I will do this with a mighty hand and with fury poured out.

Med stærk Haand og udstrakt Arm og udøst Vrede vil jeg føre eder bort fra Folkeslagene og samle eder fra de Lande, hvor I er spredt,

35 Then I will bring you into the wilderness of the peoples, and there I will judge you face to face.

og bringe eder til Folkeslagenes Ørken, og der vil jeg gaa i Rette med eder Ansigt til Ansigt.

36 As I judged your fathers in the wilderness of the land of Egypt, so also I will judge you—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.

Som jeg gik i Rette med eders Fædre i Ægyptens Ørken, vil jeg gaa i Rette med eder, lyder det fra den Herre HERREN.

37 I will cause you to pass under my rod, and I will make you obey the requirements of the covenant.

Jeg vil lade eder gaa under Staven og føre eder fuldtalligt frem.

38 I will purge from among you the rebels and those who revolt against me. I will send them out from the land where they are staying as foreigners, but they will not enter the land of Israel. Then you will know that I am Yahweh.

Jeg vil fraskille dem, der var genstridige og faldt fra mig; jeg fører dem ud af deres Udlændigheds Land, men til Israels Land skal de ikke komme; og I skal kende, at jeg er HERREN.

39 So to you, house of Israel, the Lord Yahweh says this: Each of you should go to his own idols. Worship them if you will refuse to listen to me, but you must no longer profane my holy name with your gifts and your idols.

Men I, Israels Hus! Saa siger den Herre HERREN: Gaa hen og dyrk hver sit Afgudsbillede, men siden skal I visselig høre min Røst og ikke mere vanhellige mit hellige Navn med eders Offergaver og Afgudsbilleder.

40 For on my holy mountain, on the mountain peak of Israel—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration—all of the house of Israel will worship me there in the land. I will be pleased to require your offerings there, and also the firstfruits of your tribute with all your holy things.

Thi paa mit hellige Bjerg, paa Israels høje Bjerg, lyder det fra den Herre HERREN, der skal hele Israels Hus i Landet tjene mig; der vil jeg vise dem mit Velbehag, og der vil jeg spørge efter eders Offerydelser og Førstegrødegaver, alt, hvad I vil hellige.

41 I will accept you like fragrant incense when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered. I will show myself as holy among you for the nations to see.

Ved den liflige Duft vil jeg vise eder mit Velbehag, naar jeg fører eder ud fra Folkeslagene og samler eder fra alle de Lande, hvor I er spredt, og jeg vil paa eder vise mig som den Hellige for Folkenes Øjne.

42 Then, when I bring you to the land of Israel, to the land that I have lifted up my hand to swear to give to your fathers, you will know that I am Yahweh.

Og I skal kende, at jeg er HERREN, naar jeg fører eder til Israels Jord, det Land, jeg med løftet Haand svor at give eders Fædre.

43 There you will call to mind your conduct and all of your deeds by which you defiled yourselves, and you will despise yourselves in your own eyes for all your evil deeds that you have done.

Der skal I ihukomme eders Veje og alle de Gerninger, I gjorde eder urene med, saa I ledes ved eder selv for alt det onde, I øvede.

44 So you will know that I am Yahweh when I do this to you because of my name's sake, and not because of your evil deeds, and not because of your corrupt deeds, house of Israel—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'”

Og I skal kende, at jeg er HERREN, naar jeg gør saaledes med eder for mit Navns Skyld, ikke efter eders onde Veje og skændige Gerninger, Israels Hus, lyder det fra den Herre HERREN.

45 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,

HERRENS Ord kom til mig saaledes:

46 “Son of man, set your face toward the southern lands, and speak against the south; prophesy against the forest of the Negev.

Menneskesøn, vend dit Ansigt mod Sønden og lad din Tale strømme sønderpaa og profeter mod Sydlandets Skov!

47 Say to the forest of the Negev, 'This is Yahweh's declaration—the Lord Yahweh says this: See, I will set a fire among you. It will devour every fresh tree and every dried tree among you. The fiery flame will not be quenched; every face from the south to the north will be burned.

Sig til Sydlandets Skov: Hør HERRENS Ord! Saa siger den Herre HERREN: Jeg sætter Ild paa dig, og den skal fortære alle Træer i dig, baade friske og tørre; den luende Ild skal ikke slukkes, og alle Ansigter skal svides fra Syd til Nord.

48 Then all flesh will see that I am Yahweh when I light the fire, and it will not be quenched.'”

Og alt Kød skal se, at jeg, HERREN, har tændt den; den skal ikke slukkes!

49 Then I said, “Alas! Lord Yahweh, they are saying of me, 'Is he not a mere teller of parables?'”

Da sagde jeg: »Ak, Herre, HERRE, de siger om mig, at jeg altid taler i Lignelser!«
