Ezekiel 14
1 Some of the elders of Israel came to me and sat before me.
Quelques-uns des anciens d’Israël vinrent auprès de moi et s’assirent devant moi.
2 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
Et la parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
3 “Son of man, these men have taken their idols into their hearts and have put the stumbling block of their iniquity before their own faces. Should I be inquired of at all by them?
« Fils de l’homme, ces gens-là ont dressé dans leur cœur leurs infâmes idoles, et ils mettent devant leur face le scandale qui les fait pécher: me laisserai-je interroger par eux?
4 Therefore announce this to them and say to them, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Every man of the house of Israel who takes his idols into his heart, or who puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his face, and who then comes to a prophet—I, Yahweh, will answer him according to the number of his idols.
C’est pourquoi parle-leur et dis-leur: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Quiconque de la maison d’Israël dresse en son cœur ses infâmes idoles et met devant sa face le scandale qui le fait pécher, s’il vient vers le prophète, moi, Yahweh, je lui répondrai par moi-même, comme le mérite la multitude de ses idoles,
5 I will do this so that I may take back the house of Israel in their hearts that have been driven far from me through their idols.'
afin de prendre la maison d’Israël par son propre cœur, elle qui, avec toutes ses idoles infâmes, s’est détournée de moi.
6 Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'The Lord Yahweh says this: Repent and turn away from your idols! Turn back your faces from all your abominations.
C’est pourquoi dis à la maison d’Israël: Ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Revenez et détournez-vous de vos idoles infâmes, et détournez votre face de toutes vos abominations.
7 For every one from the house of Israel and every one of the foreigners staying in Israel who deserts me, who takes his idols into his heart and puts the stumbling block of his iniquity before his own face, and who then comes to a prophet to seek me—I, Yahweh, will answer him myself.
Car quiconque de la maison d’Israël ou des étrangers séjournant en Israël se détourne de moi, dresse dans son cœur ses infâmes idoles et met devant sa face le scandale qui le fait pécher, s’il vient vers le prophète afin qu’il m’interroge pour lui, moi Yahweh je lui répondrai moi-même.
8 So I will set my face against that man and make him a sign and a proverb, for I will cut him off from the midst of my people, and you will know that I am Yahweh.
Je dirigerai ma face contre cet homme, je le détruirai pour faire de lui un signe et un proverbe; je le retrancherai du milieu de mon peuple, et vous saurez que je suis Yahweh.
9 If a prophet is deceived and speaks a message, then I, Yahweh, will deceive that prophet; I will reach out with my hand against him and destroy him from the midst of my people Israel.
Et si le prophète se laisse séduire et qu’il prononce quelque parole, c’est moi, Yahweh, qui aurai séduit ce prophète; et j’étendrai ma main sur lui, et je l’exterminerai du milieu de mon peuple d’Israël.
10 They will carry their own iniquity; the iniquity of the prophet will be the same as the iniquity of the one who inquires from him.
Ils porteront ainsi la peine de leur iniquité, — telle l’iniquité de celui qui interroge, telle l’iniquité du prophète, —
11 Because of this, the house of Israel will no longer wander away from following me nor defile themselves any longer through all their transgressions. They will be my people, and I will be their God—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.'”
afin que la maison d’Israël ne s’égare plus loin de moi, et qu’elle ne se souille plus par toutes ses transgressions. Alors ils seront mon peuple, et moi je serai leur Dieu, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh. »
12 Then the word of Yahweh came to me, saying,
La parole de Yahweh me fut adressée en ces termes:
13 “Son of man, when a land sins against me by committing a sin so that I reach out with my hand against it and break the staff of its bread, and send out over it a famine and cut off both man and beast from the land;
« Fils de l’homme, si un pays péchait contre moi par révolte, et si j’étendais ma main sur lui en brisant pour lui le bâton du pain, et si je lui envoyais la famine, en exterminant hommes et bêtes,
14 then even if these three men—Noah, Daniel, and Job—were in the land's midst, they could only rescue their own lives by their righteousness—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.
et qu’il y eut ces trois hommes au milieu de ce pays, Noé, Daniel et Job, ... eux sauveraient leur âme par leur justice, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh.
15 If I send evil beasts through the land and make it barren so that it becomes a wasteland where no man may pass through because of the beasts,
Si je faisais passer dans le pays des bêtes malfaisantes, et qu’il fût dépeuplé, et qu’il devint un désert où personne ne passerait à cause des bêtes,
16 then even if these same three men were in it—as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh—they would not be able to rescue even their own sons or daughters; only their own lives would be rescued, but the land would become a wasteland.
et qu’il y eût ces trois hommes au milieu de ce pays, je suis vivant, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh: Ils ne sauveraient ni fils ni filles; eux seuls seraient sauvés, mais le pays serait dévasté.
17 Or if I bring a sword against that land and say, 'Sword, go through the land and cut off both man and beast from it',
Ou si je faisais venir l’épée sur ce pays, et que je dise: Que l’épée passe sur le pays!... en exterminant hommes et bêtes,
18 then even if these three men were in the midst of the land—as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh—they would not be able to rescue even their own sons or daughters; only their own lives would be rescued.
et qu’il y eût ces trois hommes au milieu de ce pays, je suis vivant, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh: Ils ne sauveraient ni fils, ni filles; eux seuls seraient sauvés.
19 Or if I send a plague against this land and pour out my fury against it through bloodshed, in order to cut off both man and beast,
Ou si j’envoyais la peste sur ce pays, et que je répandisse sur lui mon courroux dans le sang, en exterminant hommes et bêtes,
20 then even if Noah, Daniel, and Job were in that land—as I live, declares the Lord Yahweh—they would not be able to rescue even their own sons or daughters; only their own lives would be rescued by their righteousness.
et que Noé, Daniel et Job fussent au milieu de ce pays, je suis vivant, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh: Ils ne sauveraient ni fils, ni filles, mais eux sauveraient leur âme par leur justice.
21 For the Lord Yahweh says this: I will certainly make things worse by sending my four punishments—famine, sword, wild animals, and plague—against Jerusalem to cut off both man and beast from her.
Car ainsi parle le Seigneur Yahweh: Même quand j’aurai envoyé contre Jérusalem mes quatre châtiments terribles, l’épée, la famine, les bêtes malfaisantes et la peste, en exterminant hommes et bêtes,
22 Yet, behold! A remnant will be left in her, survivors who will go out with sons and daughters. Behold! They will go out to you, and you will see their ways and actions and be comforted concerning the punishment that I have sent to Jerusalem, and about everything else that I have sent against the land.
voici qu’il y aura un reste qui échappera, qui sortira de la ville, des fils et des filles. Voici qu’ils viendront vers vous; vous verrez leur conduite et leurs œuvres, et vous vous consolerez du mal que j’aurai fait venir sur Jérusalem, de tout ce que j’aurai fait venir sur elle.
23 The survivors will comfort you when you see their ways and their actions, so you will know all these things I have done against her, that I have not done them in vain!—this is the Lord Yahweh's declaration.”
Ils vous consoleront, quand vous verrez leur conduite et leurs œuvres, et vous saurez que ce n’est pas sans cause que j’aurai fait tout ce que je lui aurai fait, — oracle du Seigneur Yahweh. »
