Exodus 28
1 Call to yourself Aaron your brother and his sons—Nadab, Abihu, Eleazar, and Ithamar—from among the Israelites so that they may serve me as priests.
Et toi fais approcher de toi Aaron ton frère, et ses fils avec lui, d'entre les enfants d'Israël, pour m'exercer la Sacrificature, [savoir] Aaron, et Nadab, Abihu, Eléazar et Ithamar, fils d'Aaron.
2 You must make for Aaron, your brother, garments that are set apart to me. These garments will be for his honor and splendor.
Et tu feras à Aaron ton frère de saints vêtements pour gloire et pour ornement.
3 You must speak to all people who are wise in heart, those whom I have filled with the spirit of wisdom, so that they may make Aaron's garments to set him apart to serve me as my priest.
Et tu parleras à tous les hommes d'esprit, à chacun de ceux que j'ai remplis de l'esprit de science, afin qu'ils fassent des vêtements à Aaron pour le sanctifier, afin qu'il m'exerce la Sacrificature.
4 The garments that they must make are a breastpiece, an ephod, a robe, a coat of woven work, a turban, and a sash. They must make these garments that are set them apart to me. They will be for your brother Aaron and his sons so that they may serve me as priests.
Et ce sont ici les vêtements qu'ils feront; le Pectoral, l'Ephod, le Rochet, la Tunique, qui tienne serré, la Tiare, et le Baudrier; ils feront donc les saints vêtements à Aaron ton frère, et à ses fils, pour m'exercer la Sacrificature.
5 Craftsmen must use fine linen that is gold, blue, purple, and scarlet.
Et ils prendront de l'or, de la pourpre, de l'écarlate, du cramoisi, et du fin lin.
6 They must make the ephod of gold, of blue, purple, and scarlet wool, and of fine-twined linen. It must be the work of a skillful craftsman.
Et ils feront l'Ephod d'or, de pourpre, d'écarlate, de cramoisi, et de fin lin retors, d'un ouvrage exquis.
7 It must have two shoulder pieces attached to its two upper corners.
Il aura deux épaulières qui se joindront par les deux bouts, et il sera [ainsi] joint.
8 Its finely-woven waistband must be like the ephod; it must be made of one piece with the ephod, made of fine twined linen that is gold, blue, purple, and scarlet.
Le ceinturon exquis dont il sera ceint, [et] qui sera par-dessus, sera de même ouvrage, et tiré de lui, [étant] d'or, de pourpre, d'écarlate, de cramoisi, et de fin lin retors.
9 You must take two onyx stones and engrave on them the names of Israel's twelve sons.
Et tu prendras deux pierres d'Onyx, et tu graveras sur elles les noms des enfants d'Israël;
10 Six of their names must be on one stone, and six names must be on the other stone, in order of the sons' birth.
Six de leurs noms sur une pierre et les six noms des autres, sur l'autre pierre, selon leur naissance.
11 With the work of an engraver in stone, like the engraving on a signet, you must engrave the two stones with the names of Israel's twelve sons. You must mount the stones in settings of gold.
Tu graveras sur les deux pierres, d'ouvrage de lapidaire, de gravure de cachet, les noms des enfants d'Israël, et tu les enchâsseras dans des chatons d'or.
12 You must put the two stones on the shoulder pieces of the ephod, to be stones to remind Yahweh of Israel's sons. Aaron will carry their names before Yahweh on his two shoulders as a reminder to him.
Et tu mettras les deux pierres sur les épaulières de l'Ephod, afin qu'elles soient des pierres de mémorial pour les enfants d'Israël; car Aaron portera leurs noms sur ses deux épaules devant l'Eternel, pour mémorial.
13 You must make settings of gold
Tu feras aussi des crampons d'or;
14 and two braided chains of pure gold like cords, and you must attach the chains to the settings.
Et deux chaînettes de fin or à bouts, en façon de cordon, et tu mettras les chaînettes ainsi faites à cordon dans les crampons.
15 You must make a breastpiece for decision making, the work of a skillful workman, fashioned like the ephod. Make it of gold, of blue, purple, and scarlet wool, and of fine linen.
Tu feras aussi le Pectoral de jugement d'un ouvrage exquis, comme l'ouvrage de l'Ephod, d'or, de pourpre, d'écarlate, de cramoisi, et de fin lin retors.
16 It is to be square. You must fold the breastpiece double. It must be one span long and one span wide.
Il sera carré [et] double; et sa longueur sera d'une paume, et sa largeur d'une paume.
17 You must place in it four rows of precious stones. The first row must have a ruby, a topaz, and a garnet.
Et tu le rempliras de remplage de pierrerie, à quatre rangées de pierres [précieuses]. A la première rangée on mettra une Sardoine, une Topaze, et une Emeraude.
18 The second row must have an emerald, a sapphire, and a diamond.
Et à la seconde rangée, une Escarboucle, un Saphir, et un Jaspe.
19 The third row must have a jacinth, an agate, and an amethyst.
Et à la troisième rangée, un Ligure, une Agathe, et une Améthyste.
20 The fourth row must have a beryl, and an onyx, and a jasper. They must be mounted in gold settings.
Et à la quatrième rangée, un Chrysolithe, un Onyx et un Béryl, qui seront enchâssés dans de l'or, selon leurs remplages.
21 The stones must be arranged by the names of Israel's twelve sons, each in order by name. They must be like the engraving on a signet ring, each name standing for one of the twelve tribes.
Et ces pierres-là seront selon les noms des enfants d'Israël, douze selon leurs noms, chacune d'elles gravée de gravure de cachet, selon le nom qu'elle en doit porter, [et] elles seront pour les douze Tribus.
22 You must make on the breastpiece chains like cords, braided work of pure gold.
Tu feras donc pour le Pectoral des chaînettes à bouts, en façon de cordon, qui seront de pur or.
23 You must make two rings of gold for the breastpiece and must attach them to the two ends of the breastpiece.
Et tu feras sur le Pectoral deux anneaux d'or, et tu mettras les deux anneaux aux deux bouts du Pectoral.
24 You must attach the two golden chains to the two corners of the breastpiece.
Et tu mettras les deux chaînettes d'or faites à cordon, dans les deux anneaux à l'extrémité du Pectoral.
25 You must attach the other ends of the two braided chains to the two settings. Then you must attach those to the shoulder pieces of the ephod at its front.
Et tu mettras les deux autres bouts des deux chaînettes faites à cordon, aux deux crampons, et tu les mettras sur les épaulières de l'Ephod, sur le devant de l'Ephod.
26 You must make two rings of gold, and you must put them on the other two corners of the breastpiece, on the edge next to the inner border.
Tu feras aussi deux autres anneaux d'or, que tu mettras aux deux autres bouts du Pectoral, sur le bord qui sera du côté de l'Ephod en dedans.
27 You must make two more gold rings, and you must attach them to the bottom of the two shoulder pieces of the front of the ephod, close to its seam above the finely-woven waistband of the ephod.
Et tu feras deux autres anneaux d'or, que tu mettras aux deux épaulières de l'Ephod par le bas, répondant sur le devant, à l'endroit où il se joint, au-dessus du ceinturon exquis de l'Ephod.
28 They must tie the breastpiece by its rings to the ephod's rings with a blue cord, so that it might be attached just above the ephod's woven waistband. This is so that the breastpiece might not become unattached from the ephod.
Et ils joindront le Pectoral élevé par ses anneaux, aux anneaux de l'Ephod, avec un cordon de pourpre, afin qu'il tienne au-dessus du ceinturon exquis de l'Ephod, et que le Pectoral ne bouge point de dessus l'Ephod.
29 When Aaron goes into the holy place, he must carry the names of the people of Israel over his heart in the breastpiece for decision making, as a continuing memorial before Yahweh.
[Ainsi] Aaron portera sur son cœur les noms des enfants d'Israël au Pectoral de jugement, quand il entrera dans le lieu Saint, pour mémorial devant l'Eternel, continuellement.
30 You are to put the Urim and the Thummim in the breastpiece for decision making, so they may be over Aaron's heart when he goes in before Yahweh. Thus Aaron will always carry the means for making decisions for the people of Israel over his heart before Yahweh.
Et tu mettras sur le Pectoral de jugement l'Urim et le Thummim, qui seront sur le cœur d'Aaron, quand il viendra devant l'Eternel; et Aaron portera le jugement des enfants d'Israël sur son cœur devant l'Eternel, continuellement.
31 You will make the robe of the ephod entirely of blue fabric.
Tu feras aussi le Rochet de l'Ephod entièrement de pourpre.
32 It must have an opening for the head in the middle. The opening must have a woven edge round about so that it does not tear. This must be the work of a weaver.
Et l'ouverture où passe la tête sera au milieu, [et] il y aura un ourlet à son ouverture tout autour, d'ouvrage tissu, comme l'ouverture d'un corselet, afin qu'il ne se déchire point.
33 On the bottom hem, you must make pomegranates of blue, purple, and scarlet yarn all around. Gold bells must be between them all around.
Et tu feras à ses bords des grenades de pourpre, d'écarlate, et de cramoisi tout autour, et des clochettes d'or entre elles tout autour.
34 There must be a golden bell and a pomegranate, a golden bell and a pomegranate—and so on—all around the hem of the robe.
Une clochette d'or, puis une grenade; une clochette d'or, puis une grenade; aux bords du Rochet tout autour.
35 The robe is to be on Aaron when he serves, so that its sound can be heard when he goes into the holy place before Yahweh and when he leaves. This is so that he does not die.
Et Aaron en sera revêtu quand il fera le service, et on en entendra le son lorsqu'il entrera dans le lieu Saint devant l'Eternel, et quand il en sortira, afin qu'il ne meure pas.
36 You must make a plate of pure gold and engrave on it, like the engraving on a signet, “Holy to Yahweh.”
Et tu feras une lame de pur or, sur laquelle tu graveras [ces mots], de gravure de cachet: LA SAINTETÉ A L'ETERNEL.
37 You must attach this plate by a blue cord to the front of the turban.
Laquelle tu poseras avec un cordon de pourpre, et elle sera sur la Tiare, répondant sur le devant de la Tiare.
38 It must be on Aaron's forehead; he must always bear any guilt that might attach to the offering of the holy gifts that the Israelites set apart to Yahweh. The turban must be always on his forehead so that Yahweh may accept their gifts.
Et elle sera sur le front d'Aaron; et Aaron portera l'iniquité des saintes offrandes que les enfants d'Israël auront offertes, dans tous les dons de leurs saintes offrandes, et elle sera continuellement sur son front, pour les rendre agréables devant l'Eternel.
39 You must make the coat with fine linen, and you must make a turban of fine linen. You must also make a sash, the work of an embroiderer.
Tu feras aussi une chemise de fin lin qui s'appliquera sur le corps, et tu feras aussi la Tiare de fin lin; mais tu feras le baudrier d'ouvrage de broderie.
40 For Aaron's sons you must make coats, sashes, and headbands for their honor and splendor.
Tu feras aussi aux enfants d'Aaron des chemises, des baudriers, et des calottes pour leur gloire et pour leur ornement.
41 You must clothe Aaron your brother, and his sons with him. You must anoint them, ordain them, and set them apart to me, so that they may serve me as priests.
Et tu en revêtiras Aaron ton frère, et ses fils avec lui; tu les oindras, tu les consacreras et tu les sanctifieras; puis ils m'exerceront la Sacrificature.
42 You must make for them linen undergarments to cover their naked flesh, that will cover them from the waist to the thighs.
Et tu leur feras des caleçons de lin, pour couvrir leur nudité, qui tiendront depuis les reins jusqu'au bas des cuisses.
43 Aaron and his sons must wear these garments when they enter the tent of meeting or when they approach the altar to serve in the holy place. They must do this so they would not be guilty or else they would die. This is a permanent law for Aaron and his descendants after him.
Et Aaron et ses fils seront ainsi habillés quand ils entreront au Tabernacle d'assignation, ou quand ils approcheront de l'autel pour faire le service dans le lieu Saint; et ils ne porteront point la peine d'aucune iniquité, et ne mourront point. Ce sera une ordonnance perpétuelle pour lui et pour sa postérité après lui.
