Exodus 22
1 If a man steals an ox or a sheep and kills it or sells it, then he must pay five oxen for one ox, and four sheep for one sheep.
౧“ఎవరైనా ఒకడు ఎద్దును గానీ, గొర్రెను గానీ దొంగిలించి వాటిని అమ్మినా, లేదా చంపినా ఒక ఎద్దుకు బదులు ఐదు ఎద్దులు, ఒక గొర్రెకు బదులు నాలుగు గొర్రెలు చెల్లించాలి.
2 If a thief is found breaking in, and if he is struck so that he dies, in that case no guilt for murder will attach to anyone on his account.
౨ఎవరైనా దొంగతనం చేస్తూ దొరికిపోతే వాణ్ణి చనిపోయేలా కొట్టినప్పుడు కొట్టిన వాళ్ళ మీద నేరం ఉండదు.
3 But if the sun has risen before he breaks in, guilt for murder will attach to the person who kills him. A thief must make restitution. If he has nothing, then he must be sold for his theft.
౩సూర్యుడు ఉదయించిన తరువాత దొంగతనానికి వచ్చిన వాణ్ణి కొట్టిన వ్యక్తి పై హత్యానేరం ఉంటుంది. దొంగిలించిన సొత్తు తిరిగి చెల్లించాలి. దొంగ దగ్గర చెల్లించడానికి ఏమీ లేకపోతే వాడు దొంగతనం చేశాడు కాబట్టి వాణ్ణి బానిసగా అమ్మివేయాలి.
4 If the stolen animal is found alive in his possession, whether it is an ox, a donkey, or a sheep, he must pay back double.
౪దొంగిలించిన ఎద్దు గానీ, గాడిద గానీ, గొర్రె గానీ ఏదైనా సరే, ప్రాణంతో దొరికితే వాడు దానికి రెండు రెట్లు చెల్లించాలి.
5 If a man grazes his livestock in a field or vineyard and lets his animal loose, and it grazes in another man's field, he must make restitution from the best of his own field and from the best of his own vineyard.
౫ఒకడు తన పశువును మేత మేయడానికి తన పొలం లోకి గానీ, ద్రాక్ష తోటలోకి గానీ వదిలినప్పుడు అది వేరొక వ్యక్తి పొలంలో మేస్తే ఆ పొలం యజమానికి తన పంటలో, ద్రాక్షతోటలో శ్రేష్ఠమైనది తిరిగి చెల్లించాలి.
6 If a fire breaks out and spreads in thorns so that stacked grain, or standing grain, or a field is consumed, the one who started the fire must surely make restitution.
౬నిప్పు రాజుకుని ముళ్ళకంపలు అంటుకోవడం వల్ల వేరొకరి పంట కుప్పలైనా, పొలంలో పైరులైనా, పొలమైనా తగలబడి పోతే నిప్పు అంటించిన వాడు జరిగిన నష్టాన్ని పూడ్చాలి.
7 If a man gives money or goods to his neighbor for safe keeping, and if it is stolen out of the man's house, if the thief is found, that thief must pay double.
౭ఒక వ్యక్తి సొమ్మును గానీ, సామాన్లు గానీ జాగ్రత్త చెయ్యమని తన పొరుగు వాడికి అప్పగించినప్పుడు ఆ వ్యక్తి ఇంట్లో దొంగతనం జరిగినట్టయితే ఆ దొంగ దొరికిన పక్షంలో వాడు దానికి రెండు రెట్లు చెల్లించాలి.
8 But if the thief is not found, then the owner of the house must come before the judges to see whether he has put his own hand on his neighbor's property.
౮ఒకవేళ ఆ దొంగ దొరకని పక్షంలో ఆ ఇంటి యజమాని తన పొరుగువాడి వస్తువులు తీసుకున్నాడో లేదో పరిష్కారం చేసుకోవడానికి న్యాయాధికారుల దగ్గరికి రావాలి.
9 For every dispute about something, whether it is an ox, a donkey, a sheep, clothing, or any other missing thing about which one says, “This belongs to me,” the claim of both parties must come before the judges. The man whom the judges find guilty must pay double to his neighbor.
౯ఎద్దులు, గాడిదలు, గొర్రెలు, దుస్తులు వంటి ప్రతి విధమైన వాటి అపహరణ గూర్చిన ఆజ్ఞ ఇదే. పోగొట్టుకున్నవాడు వాటిని చూసి, అవి నావి అని వాదించినప్పుడు ఆ విషయంలో పరిష్కారం కోసం న్యాయాధికారుల దగ్గరికి రావాలి. న్యాయాధిపతి ఎవరి మీద నేరం రుజువు చేస్తాడో వాడు తన పొరుగువాడికి రెండు రెట్లు చెల్లించాలి.
10 If a man gives his neighbor a donkey, an ox, a sheep, or any animal to keep, and if it dies or is hurt or is carried away without anyone seeing it,
౧౦ఒకడు గాడిద, ఎద్దు, గొర్రె, మరి ఏ జంతువునైనా కాపాడమని తన పొరుగు వాడికి అప్పగించినప్పుడు, అది చనిపోయినా, గాయపడినా, లేదా ఎవరూ చూడకుండా ఎవరైనా వాటిని తోలుకు పోయినా,
11 an oath to Yahweh must be taken by them both, as to whether or not one person has put his hand on his neighbor's property. The owner must accept this, and the other will make no restitution.
౧౧అ వ్యక్తి తన పొరుగువాడి సొమ్మును తాను దొంగిలించలేదని యెహోవా నామం పేరట ప్రమాణం చెయ్యాలి. ఆ ప్రమాణం వారిద్దరి మధ్యనే ఉండాలి. ఆస్తి స్వంత దారుడు దానికి సమ్మతించాలి. జరిగిన నష్టపరిహారం చెల్లించనక్కర లేదు.
12 But if it was stolen from him, the other must make restitution to the owner for it.
౧౨ఒకవేళ అది నిజంగా అతని దగ్గర నుండి ఎవరైనా దొంగిలిస్తే అతడు స్వంత దారుడికి పరిహారం చెల్లించాలి.
13 If an animal was torn in pieces, let the other man bring the animal as evidence. He will not have to pay for what was torn.
౧౩లేదా ఒకవేళ మృగాలు దాన్ని చీల్చివేస్తే రుజువు కోసం దాన్ని తీసుకురావాలి. అలా చనిపోయినప్పుడు దాని నష్టం చెల్లించనక్కర లేదు.
14 If a man borrows any animal from his neighbor and the animal is injured or dies without the owner being with it, the other man must surely make restitution.
౧౪ఒక వ్యక్తి తన పొరుగువాని దగ్గర ఏదైనా బదులు తీసుకుంటే, దాని యజమాని దాని దగ్గర లేనప్పుడు దానికి హాని కలిగినా, లేదా అది చనిపోయినా ఆ నష్టాన్ని తప్పకుండా పూరించాలి.
15 But if the owner was with it, the other man will not have to pay; if the animal was hired, it will be paid for by its hiring fee.
౧౫దాని యజమాని దానితో ఉన్నట్టయితే దాని నష్టం చెల్లించనక్కర లేదు. ఒకవేళ అది కిరాయికి తెచ్చినదైతే దాని కిరాయి డబ్బు యజమానికి చెల్లించాలి.
16 If a man seduces a virgin who is not engaged, and if he sleeps with her, he must surely make her his wife by paying the bride wealth required for this.
౧౬ఒకడు పెళ్లి నిర్ణయం కాని ఒక కన్యను లోబరచుకుని ఆమెతో తన వాంఛ తీర్చుకుంటే ఆమె కోసం కట్నం ఇచ్చి ఆమెను పెళ్లి చేసుకోవాలి.
17 If her father completely refuses to give her to him, he must pay money equal to the bride wealth of virgins.
౧౭ఒకవేళ ఆమె తండ్రి ఆమెను అతనికిచ్చేందుకు నిరాకరిస్తే వాడు కన్యల కట్నం ప్రకారం సొమ్ము చెల్లించాలి.
18 You must not allow a sorceress to live.
౧౮మంత్రగత్తెను బతకనివ్వకూడదు.
19 Whoever sleeps with a beast must surely be put to death.
౧౯జంతువులతో సంపర్కం చేసే ప్రతి ఒక్కరికీ మరణశిక్ష విధించాలి.
20 Whoever sacrifices to any god except to Yahweh must be completely destroyed.
౨౦యెహోవాకు మాత్రమే బలులు అర్పించాలి, వేరొక దేవునికి బలి అర్పించే వాడు శాపానికి గురౌతాడు.
21 You must not wrong a foreigner or oppress him, for you were foreigners in the land of Egypt.
౨౧పరాయి దేశస్థులను పీడించకూడదు. మీరు ఐగుప్తు దేశంలో పరాయివాళ్ళుగా ఉన్నారు గదా.
22 You must not mistreat any widow or fatherless child.
౨౨విధవరాళ్ళను, తల్లి తండ్రులు లేని పిల్లలను బాధపెట్టకూడదు.
23 If you afflict them at all, and if they call out to me, I will surely hear their call.
౨౩వాళ్ళను ఏ కారణంతోనైనా నీవు బాధ పెడితే వాళ్ళు పెట్టే మొర నాకు వినబడుతుంది. నేను వాళ్ళ మొరను తప్పకుండా ఆలకిస్తాను.
24 My anger will burn, and I will kill you with the sword; your wives will become widows, and your children will become fatherless.
౨౪నా కోపాగ్ని రగులుకొంటుంది. నా కత్తివేటుతో నిన్ను హతం చేస్తాను. మీ భార్యలు విధవరాళ్ళు అవుతారు. మీ పిల్లలు దిక్కులేని వాళ్ళవుతారు.
25 If you lend money to any of my people among you who are poor, you must not be like a moneylender to him or charge him interest.
౨౫నా ప్రజల్లో మీ దగ్గర ఉండే ఒక పేదవాడికి అప్పుగా సొమ్ము ఇచ్చినప్పుడు వారి పట్ల కఠినంగా ప్రవర్తించ కూడదు. వాళ్ళ దగ్గర వడ్డీ వసూలు చేయకూడదు.
26 If you take your neighbor's garment in pledge, you must return it to him before the sun goes down,
౨౬మీరు ఒకవేళ ఎప్పుడైనా మీ పొరుగువాడి దుస్తులు తాకట్టు పెట్టుకుంటే సూర్యుడు అస్తమించే సమయానికి వాటిని వాళ్లకు తిరిగి అప్పగించాలి.
27 for that is his only covering; it is his garment for his body. What else can he sleep in? When he calls out to me, I will hear him, for I am compassionate.
౨౭వాళ్ళు ఏమి కప్పుకుని పండుకుంటారు? వాళ్ళ దేహాలు కప్పుకొనే దుస్తులు అవే కదా. వాళ్ళు నాకు మొర పెట్టినప్పుడు నేను వింటాను. నేను దయగల వాణ్ణి.
28 You must not blaspheme me, God, nor curse a ruler of your people.
౨౮నువ్వు దేవుణ్ణి దూషించకూడదు. నీ ప్రజల అధికారుల్లో ఎవరినీ శపించ కూడదు.
29 You must not hold back offerings from your harvest or your winepresses. You must give to me the firstborn of your sons.
౨౯నీ మొదటి కోత అర్పణలు ఇవ్వడంలో ప్రథమ ఫలాలు ఇవ్వడంలో ఆలస్యం చేయకూడదు. నీ కొడుకుల్లో మొదటివాణ్ణి నాకు ప్రతిష్టించాలి.
30 You must also do the same with your oxen and your sheep. For seven days they may remain with their mothers, but on the eighth day you must give them to me.
౩౦అదే విధంగా నీ ఎద్దులు, గొర్రెలు అర్పించాలి. మీరు ప్రతిష్ఠించినవి మొదటి ఏడు రోజులు తమ తల్లి దగ్గర ఉన్న తరువాత ఎనిమిదవ రోజు నాకు ప్రతిష్ఠించాలి.
31 You will be people that are set apart for me. So you must not eat any meat that was torn by animals in the field. Instead, you must throw it to the dogs.
౩౧మీరు నాకు ప్రత్యేకంగా ఉన్న వాళ్ళు గనుక పొలాల్లో మృగాలు చీల్చిన జంతు మాంసం తినకూడదు. దాన్ని కుక్కలకు పారవెయ్యాలి.”
