Exodus 2
1 Now a man of the tribe of Levi married a woman of Levi.
अब लेवीको कुलका एक जना पुरुषले लेवीकै कुलकी एक जना स्त्रीसित विवाह गरे ।
2 The woman became pregnant and gave birth to a son. When she saw that he was a healthy boy, she hid him for three months.
ती स्त्री गर्भवती भइन् र एउटा छोरो जन्माइन् । तिनी स्वस्थ बालक भएको देखेर उनले तिनलाई तिन महिनासम्म लुकाइन् ।
3 But when she could no longer hide him, she took a papyrus basket and sealed it with bitumen and pitch. Then she put the child in it and placed it among the reeds in the water along the side of the river.
तर उनले लुकाउन नसकेपछि उनले कुशको एउटा टोकरी बनाएर त्यसलाई तारपीन र अलकत्राले लिपिन् । त्यसपछि उनले बच्चालाई त्यसभित्र राखिन् र नदीको किनारनेर नर्कटको झाडीमा भएको पानीमा राखिदिइन् ।
4 His sister stood at a distance to see what would happen to him.
बालकलाई के हुनेथियो भनी हेर्न तिनकी दिदीचाहिँ अलि टाढामा उभिन् । फारोकी छोरी नदीमा नुहाउन ओर्लिन् ।
5 Pharaoh's daughter came down to bathe at the river while her attendants walked along by the riverside. She saw the basket among the reeds and sent her attendant to get it.
उनका सहेलीहरूचाहिँ नदीतटमा टहल्न लागे । उनले नर्कटहरूका बिचमा एउटा टोकरी देखिन् र आफ्नी एक जना सहेलीलाई त्यो लिन पठाइन् ।
6 When she opened it, she saw the child. Behold, the baby was crying. She had compassion on him and said, “This is certainly one of the Hebrews' children.”
उनले त्यसलाई खोलेर हेर्दा बच्चा देखिन् । बच्चा रुँदै थियो । उनमा बच्चाप्रति दया जाग्यो र उनले भनिन्, “यो पक्कै पनि हिब्रूहरूको बच्चा हुनुपर्छ ।”
7 Then the baby's sister said to Pharaoh's daughter, “Should I go and find you a Hebrew woman to nurse the child for you?”
तब बालककी दिदीले फारोकी छोरीलाई भनिन्, “बच्चालाई दूध खुवाउन तपाईंको लागि म गएर एक हिब्रू स्त्रीलाई फेला पारेर ल्याऊँ?”
8 Pharaoh's daughter said to her, “Go.” So the young girl went and got the child's mother.
फारोकी छोरीले उनलाई भनिन्, “जाऊ ।” त्यसैले ती युवती गएर आमालाई बोलाएर ल्याइन् ।
9 Pharaoh's daughter said to the baby's mother, “Take this child and nurse him for me, and I will pay you wages.” So the woman took the child and nursed him.
फारोकी छोरीले बच्चाकी आमालाई भनिन्, “यो बच्चालाई लिएर जाऊ र मेरो खातिर दूध खुवाऊ र म तिम्रो ज्याला दिनेछु ।” त्यसैले आमाले बच्चालाई लिएर दूध खुवाउने गरिन् ।
10 When the child grew older, she brought him to Pharaoh's daughter, and he became her son. She named him Moses and said, “Because I drew him from the water.”
बालक हुर्कंदै गएपछि उनले तिनलाई फारोकी छोरीकहाँ ल्याइन् र तिनी उनको छोरा भए । उनले तिनलाई मोशा नाउँ राखे र भने, “किनकि मैले यिनलाई पानीबाट निकालेँ ।”
11 When Moses had grown up, he went out to his people and observed their hard work. He saw an Egyptian striking a Hebrew, one of his own people.
जब मोशा हुर्के तिनी आफ्नो जातिकहाँ गए र तिनीहरूको कठिन कामलाई अवलोकन गरे । मोशाको आफ्नै जातिको कुनै एउटा मानिसलाई एउटा मिश्रीले हिर्काइरहेको तिनले देखे ।
12 He looked this way and that way, and when he saw that there was no one there, he killed the Egyptian and hid his body in the sand.
तिनले दायाँबायाँ हेरे र कोही नदेखेपछि त्यस मिश्रीलाई मारेर त्यसको लाशलाई बालुवामुनि पुरिदिए ।
13 He went out the next day, and, behold, two Hebrew men were fighting. He said to the one who was in the wrong, “Why are you hitting your companion?”
अर्को दिन पनि तिनी बाहिर निस्के र दुई जना हिब्रू एक-अर्कामा झगडा गरिरहेका देखे । तिनले गल्ती गर्नेचाहिँलाई भने, “तिमी आफ्नै साथीलाई किन हिर्काउँदै छौ?”
14 But the man said, “Who made you a leader and judge over us? Are you planning to kill me as you killed that Egyptian?” Then Moses became afraid and said, “What I did has certainly become known to others.”
तर त्यस मानिसले भन्यो, “कसले तिमीलाई हाम्रो अगुवा र न्यायकर्ता बनायो? त्यस मिश्रीलाई मारेजस्तै के तिमी मलाई पनि मार्न खोज्दै छौ?” तब मोशा डराएर भने, “निश्चय नै, मैले गरेको कुरा अरूहरूले थाहा पाउन लागेछन् ।”
15 Now when Pharaoh heard about it, he tried to kill Moses. But Moses fled from Pharaoh and stayed in the land of Midian. There he sat down by a well.
फारोले यस विषयमा सुनेपछि तिनले मोशालाई मार्न खोजे । तर मोशा फारोदेखि भागेर मिद्यान देशमा गए र त्यहाँ तिनी कुवानेर बसे ।
16 Now the priest of Midian had seven daughters. They came, drew water, and filled the troughs to water their father's flock.
अब मिद्यानका पूजाहारीका सात छोरी थिए । तिनीहरू आएर पानी भरे र तिनीहरूका पिताका भेडा-बाख्रालाई पानी खुवाउन डुँड भरे ।
17 The shepherds came and tried to drive them away, but Moses went and helped them. Then he watered their flock.
गोठालाहरू आएर तिनीहरूलाई धपाउन खोज्दा मोशाले ती युवतीहरूको मदत गरे । त्यसपछि तिनले तिनीहरूका भेडा-बाख्राहरूलाई पनि पानी खुवाइदिए ।
18 When the girls went to Reuel their father, he said, “Why are you home so early today?”
जब ती केटीहरू आफ्ना पिता रूएलकहाँ गए तब तिनले सोधे, “आज तिमीहरू किन यति चाँडै घर आएका छौ?”
19 They said, “An Egyptian rescued us from the shepherds. He even drew water for us and watered the flock.”
तिनीहरूले भने, “एक जना मिश्रीले हामीलाई गोठालाहरूबाट छुटकारा दिए । तिनले हाम्रो निम्ति पानी तान्नुका साथै भेडा-बाख्राहरूलाई पनि पानी खुवाइदिए ।”
20 He said to his daughters, “So where is he? Why did you leave the man? Call him so he can eat a meal with us.”
तिनले आफ्ना छोरीहरूलाई भने, “त्यसो भए, तिनी कहाँ छन् त? किन तिमीहरूले ती मानिसलाई छाड्यौ?” तिनलाई डाक ताकि तिनले हामीसितै खाना खान सकून् ।”
21 Moses agreed to stay with the man, who also gave him his daughter Zipporah in marriage.
मोशा ती मानिससित बस्न राजी भए जसले तिनलाई आफ्नी छोरी सिप्पोरा विवाहको लागि दिए ।
22 She bore a son, and Moses called his name Gershom; he said, “I have been a resident in a foreign land.”
उनले एउटा छोरो जन्माइन् र मोशाले त्यसको नाउँ गेर्शोम राखे । तिनले भने, “म विदेशी भूमिमा प्रवासी भएको छु ।”
23 A long time later, the king of Egypt died. The Israelites groaned because of the slave labor. They cried out for help, and their pleas went up to God because of their bondage.
धेरै समय बितेपछि मिश्रका राजा मरे । इस्राएलीहरूले दासत्वको कठिनाइको कारणले चित्कार गरे । तिनीहरूले मदतको लागि पुकारा गरे र तिनीहरूको दासत्वको कारण तिनीहरूको पुकारा परमेश्वरकहाँ पुग्यो ।
24 When God heard their groaning, God called to mind his covenant with Abraham, with Isaac, and with Jacob.
परमेश्वरले तिनीहरूको क्रन्दन सुन्नुभएपछि उहाँले अब्राहाम, इसहाक र याकूबसित बाँध्नुभएको करार सम्झनुभयो ।
25 God saw the Israelites, and he understood their situation.
परमेश्वरले इस्राएलीहरूलाई देख्नुभयो, र तिनीहरूको अवस्था बुझ्नुभयो ।
