< Exodus 17 >

1 The whole community of the Israelites journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, following Yahweh's instructions. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
Awurade hyɛe maa Israelfo no fii Sin sare no so kokɔɔ nkurow nkurow so, koduu Refidim. Woduu hɔ no, na nsu a wɔbɛnom biara nni hɔ.
2 So the people blamed Moses for their situation and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses said, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test Yahweh?”
Ɛha nso nnipa no nwiinwii bio tiaa Mose sɛ, “Ma yɛn nsu nnom!” Mose ka kyerɛɛ wɔn se, “Monyɛ dinn! Adɛn nti na mo ne me regye akyinnye? Adɛn nti na mopɛ sɛ mosɔ Awurade hwɛ?”
3 The people were very thirsty, and they complained against Moses. They said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt? To kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”
Na osukɔm a ɛde wɔn no nti, wɔteɛteɛɛ mu se, “Adɛn nti na wuyii yɛn fii Misraim? Adɛn nti na wode yɛn baa ha? Yɛn, yɛn mma ne yɛn anantwi nyinaa bewuwu!”
4 Then Moses cried out to Yahweh, “What should I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
Mose su frɛɛ Awurade se, “Dɛn na menyɛ saa nkurɔfo yi? Wɔpɛ sɛ wosiw me abo.”
5 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go on ahead of the people, and take with you some elders of Israel. Take with you the staff with which you struck the river, and go.
Awurade ka kyerɛɛ Mose se, “Fa Israelfo mpanyimfo no bi ka wo ho na fa pema a wode bɔɔ Nil mu no na di wɔn anim fa wɔn kɔ.
6 I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you will strike the rock. Water will come out of it for the people to drink.” Then Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Mehyia wo wɔ ɔbotan a ɛwɔ bepɔw Horeb ho. Sɛ wudu hɔ a, fa wo pema no bɔ ɔbotan no mu sɛnea wode bɔɔ Nil mu no na nsu befi mu aba ama obiara anya bi anom amee.” Mose yɛɛ nea Awurade kae no wɔ Israel mpanyimfo no anim maa nsu tue fii ɔbotan no mu.
7 He called that place Massah and Meribah because of the Israelites' complaining, and because they had tested the Lord by saying, “Is Yahweh among us or not?”
8 Then an army of the Amalek people came and attacked Israel at Rephidim.
Afei, akofo a wofi Amalek bɛtow hyɛɛ Israelfo no so wɔ Refidim ne wɔn koe.
9 So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some men and go out. Fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.”
Mose ka kyerɛɛ Yosua se, “Yi asraafo ma yɛn na yɛne Amalekfo no nkɔko. Ɔkyena megyina bepɔw no apampam a mikura Onyankopɔn pema no.”
10 So Joshua fought Amalek as Moses had instructed, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
Enti Yosua ne ne dɔm kɔtoaa Amalekfo asraafo no ne wɔn koe sɛnea na Mose ahyɛ no, na Mose ne Aaron ne Hur foro kɔɔ bepɔw no apampam pɛɛ.
11 While Moses was holding his hands up, Israel was winning; when he let his hands rest, Amalek would begin to win.
Mmere dodow a Mose kura pema no mu kyerɛ soro na Israelfo no redi nkonim na sɛ ɔbrɛ pema no ase a, na Amalekfo no nso redi Israelfo no so.
12 When Moses' hands became heavy, Aaron and Hur took a stone and put it under him for him to sit on. At the same time, Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one person on one side of him, and the other person on the other side. So Moses' hands were held steady until the sun went down.
Mose brɛ a na ontumi mma pema no so bio enti Aaron ne Hur pirew ɔbo bi too hɔ ma ɔtenaa so. Wogyinagyinaa Mose benkum ne nifa memaa ne nsa abien no so kosii sɛ owia kɔtɔe.
13 So Joshua defeated the people of Amalek with the sword.
Ɛbaa saa no, Yosua ne ne dɔm dii Amalekfo no so, kunkum wɔn wɔ afoa ano.
14 Yahweh said to Moses, “Write this in a book and read it in Joshua's hearing, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under the skies.”
15 Then Moses built an altar and he called it “Yahweh is my banner.”
Mose sii afɔremuka hɔ na ɔtoo no din Awurade Nissi a ase ne Awurade ne me frankaa.
16 He said, “For a hand was lifted up to the throne of Yahweh—that Yahweh will wage war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
Mose kae se, “Efisɛ wɔama wɔn nsa so atia Awurade ahengua nti, Awurade ne Amalekfo bedi ako afi awo ntoatoaso so akosi awo ntoatoaso so.”
