< Exodus 17 >
1 The whole community of the Israelites journeyed from the wilderness of Sin, following Yahweh's instructions. They camped at Rephidim, but there was no water for the people to drink.
Israel kaminawk loe Angraeng mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Sin praezaek hoi tacawt o moe, ahmuen kalah bangah kholong caeh o; Rephidim ahmuen ah anghak o; to ahmuen ah loe kaminawk mah naek o hanah tui to om ai.
2 So the people blamed Moses for their situation and said, “Give us water to drink.” Moses said, “Why do you quarrel with me? Why do you test Yahweh?”
Topongah kaminawk mah, Ka naek o hanah tui na paek ah, tiah Mosi to zoeh o. Mosi mah nihcae khaeah, Tikhoe kai nang zoeh o moe, Angraeng to na tanoek o loe? tiah a naa.
3 The people were very thirsty, and they complained against Moses. They said, “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt? To kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”
Toe kaminawk loe tui anghaeh o boeh pongah, Mosi to laisaep o thuih; nihcae mah, Tipongah kaimah hoi ka caanawk khue ai ah, ka tawnh o ih moinawk doeh duek hanah, Izip prae thung hoi hae praezaek ah nang caeh haih loe? tiah a naa o.
4 Then Moses cried out to Yahweh, “What should I do with this people? They are almost ready to stone me.”
To naah Mosi mah Angraeng khaeah, Hae kaminawk hae kawbang maw ka naa han? Kai thlung hoi ang vah o tom boeh, tiah a hang.
5 Yahweh said to Moses, “Go on ahead of the people, and take with you some elders of Israel. Take with you the staff with which you struck the river, and go.
To naah Angraeng mah Mosi khaeah, Kaminawk hmaa ah caeh ah, Israel kacoehtanawk hoi nawnto caeh ah, tuipui na bohhaih cunghet to sin ah loe, caeh ah.
6 I will stand before you there on the rock at Horeb, and you will strike the rock. Water will come out of it for the people to drink.” Then Moses did so in the sight of the elders of Israel.
Khenah, Na hmaa ih Horeb lungsong nuiah kang doet han; lungsong to bop ah, kaminawk mah naek o hanah, lungsong thung hoiah tui to tacawt tih, tiah a naa. Mosi mah to tiah Israel kaminawk mikhnuk ah sak.
7 He called that place Massah and Meribah because of the Israelites' complaining, and because they had tested the Lord by saying, “Is Yahweh among us or not?”
Israel kaminawk mah, Aicae salakah Angraeng oh maw, om ai? tiah Angraeng to tanoek o moe, zoeh o pongah, to ahmuen to Massah hoi Meribah, tiah ahmin paek o.
8 Then an army of the Amalek people came and attacked Israel at Rephidim.

9 So Moses said to Joshua, “Choose some men and go out. Fight with Amalek. Tomorrow I will stand on top of the hill with the staff of God in my hand.”

10 So Joshua fought Amalek as Moses had instructed, while Moses, Aaron, and Hur went up to the top of the hill.
To pongah Mosi mah thuih ih lok baktih toengah, Joshua mah Amalek kaminawk to tuk; to naah Mosi, Aaron hoi Hur loe mae nuiah dawh o.
11 While Moses was holding his hands up, Israel was winning; when he let his hands rest, Amalek would begin to win.
Mosi ban payangh naah, Israel kaminawk mah misa pazawk o; toe anih ih ban pakhrak tathuk naah, Amalek kaminawk mah pazawk o.
12 When Moses' hands became heavy, Aaron and Hur took a stone and put it under him for him to sit on. At the same time, Aaron and Hur held his hands up, one person on one side of him, and the other person on the other side. So Moses' hands were held steady until the sun went down.
Mosi ban khah naah thlung to lak o moe, anih tlim ah suek pae o; anih to thlung nuiah anghnut o sak pacoengah, Aaron hoi Hur mah anih ih ban to hae bang hoi ho bang, niduem khoek to, pakhrah ai ah atoengh pae hoi.

14 Yahweh said to Moses, “Write this in a book and read it in Joshua's hearing, because I will completely blot out the memory of Amalek from under the skies.”
To naah Angraeng mah Mosi khaeah, Hae hmuen hae panoek poe hanah cabu pongah tarik ah loe, Joshua han kahoih ah kroek paeh; Amalek kaminawk poekhaih loe van tlim hoiah kang hmatsak han, tiah a naa.
15 Then Moses built an altar and he called it “Yahweh is my banner.”
Mosi mah hmaicam maeto sak moe, Jehovah-nissi, tiah ahmin paek.
16 He said, “For a hand was lifted up to the throne of Yahweh—that Yahweh will wage war with Amalek from generation to generation.”
