Ephesians 5
1 Therefore be imitators of God, as dearly loved children.
Busa sundoga ninyo ang Dios, ingon nga mga anak nga iyang hinigugma,
2 And walk in love, as also Christ loved us and gave himself up for us, a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.
ug magkinabuhi sa gugma sama nga gihigugma kamo ni Cristo ug gihatag niya ang iyang kaugalingon alang kanato ingon nga usa ka humot nga halad ug sakripisyo nga makapahimuot sa Dios.
3 But there must not be even a suggestion among you of sexual immorality or any kind of impurity or of greed, for these are improper for God's holy people.
Ang lawasnong imoralidad o ang tanang kahugaw o kahakog ayaw gyud ninyo hunahunaa, kay dili angayan sa mga gigahin sa Dios.
4 Let there be no filthiness, no foolish talk, and no crude jokes—all of which are improper. Instead there should be thanksgiving.
Bisan ang pagkabastos, binuang nga pag-istorya, o yagayaga nga dili angay, kondili magmapasalamaton kamo.
5 For you can be sure of this, that no sexually immoral, impure, or greedy person—that is, an idolater—has any inheritance in the kingdom of Christ and God.
Kay kamo nakasigurado nga walay lawasnong imoral, dili putli, o hakog nga tawo, nga naghimaya sa diosdiosan, ang makabaton ug pamana sa gingharian ni Cristo ug sa Dios.
6 Let no one deceive you with empty words, for because of these things the anger of God is coming upon the sons of disobedience.
Ayaw kamo pagpalimbong sa mga pulong nga walay pulos. Kay tungod niining mga butanga ang kasuko sa Dios moabot sa mga anak nga dili matinumanon.
7 Therefore, do not join in with them.
Busa dili kamo makig-uban kanila.
8 For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Walk as children of light
Kay kaniadto diha kamo sa kangitngit, apan karon kamo mao ang kahayag sa Ginoo.
9 (for the fruit of the light consists in all goodness, righteousness, and truth),
Busa maglakaw kamo ingon nga mga anak sa kahayag - kay ang bunga sa kahayag tanan maayo, matarong ug kamatuoran,
10 and find out what is pleasing to the Lord.
— nga nagpakita kung unsay makapahimuot sa Ginoo.
11 Do not associate with the unfruitful works of darkness, but rather expose them.
Dili kamo pag apil-apil sa pagbuhat sa walay pulos nga buluhaton diha sa kangitngit, kondili ipadayag ninyo sila,
12 For it is shameful even to mention the things they do in secret.
kay ang mga butang nabuhat nila sa tago labihan nga makauulaw kung ihulagway.
13 But when anything is illuminated by the light, it becomes visible.
Ang tanan gipadayag sa kahayag,
14 For anything that becomes visible is light. Therefore it says, “Awake, you sleeper, and arise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you.”
kay ang kahayag nagasidlak sa tanan. Busa niini adunay nag-ingon, “Pagmata, kamo nga nakatulog, ug mobangon gikan sa kamatayon, ug si Cristo maghayag kaninyo.”
15 Look carefully how you live—not as unwise but as wise.
Busa ampingi ninyo ang inyong kinabuhi, nga dili sama sa mga dili maalamon kondili sama sa mga maalamon.
16 Redeem the time because the days are evil.
Pahimusli ang panahon kay ang mga adlaw dautan.
17 Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the will of the Lord is.
Dili kamo magpakabuang, kondili sabton ninyo kung unsa ang kabubut-on sa Ginoo.
18 And do not get drunk with wine, for that leads to reckless behavior. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit,
Ug dili kamo magpakahubog sa bino, kay kini magdala kaninyo sa kalaglagan, apan hinuon mapuno kamo sa Balaang Espiritu,
19 speaking to each other in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody to the Lord with all your heart,
magsinultihay kamo sa salmo ug mga awit, ug mga alawiton nga espirituhanon, nga mag-awit ug maghimaya nga kinasingkasing ngadto sa Ginoo,
20 always giving thanks for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ to God the Father,
magpasalamat kanunay sa tanang mga butang sa ngalan sa atong Ginoong Jesu Cristo sa Dios nga Amahan;
21 submitting yourselves to one another in reverence for Christ.
magpasakop kamo sa usa'g usa alang sa pagtahod kang Cristo.
22 Wives, submit to your husbands, as to the Lord.
Mga asawa kinahanglan magpasakop kamo sa inyong kaugalingong mga bana, sama sa Ginoo.
23 For the husband is the head of the wife as Christ also is the head of the church, and Christ himself is its savior.
Kay ang bana mao ang ulo sa asawa sama nga si Cristo usab ang ulo sa Iglesia, ug siya ang Manluluwas sa atong lawas.
24 But as the church submits to Christ, so also wives must submit to their husbands in everything.
Apan ingon nga ang Iglesia nagpasakop kang Cristo, ingon nga kinahanglan sad ang mga asawa sa ilang mga bana sa tanang butang.
25 Husbands, love your wives, as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her.
Mga bana, higugmaa ang inyong mga asawa sama kang Cristo nga naghigugma sa Iglesia ug naghatag sa iyang kaugalingon alang kaniya,
26 Christ gave himself for the church so that he might make her holy, having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word,
aron mahimo niyang balaan siya kay gihinluan kita niya sa paghugas sa tubig pinaagi sa pulong,
27 so that he might present her to himself as glorious, without stain or wrinkle or any such thing, but holy and without fault.
aron mapresentar niya sa iyang kaugalingon ang Iglesia nga mahimayaon, nga walay mantsa o kunot o bisan unsa nga sama niini, apan hinuon balaan ug walay sayop.
28 In the same way husbands ought to love their own wives as their own bodies. He who loves his own wife loves himself.
Sa sama nga pamaagi, mga bana kinahanglan higugmaa gyud ninyo ang iyong kaugalingong asawa sama sa inyong kaugalingong lawas. Ang naghigugma sa iyang kaugalingong asawa naghigugma sad sa iyang kaugalingon.
29 For no one ever hated his own body, but nourishes and treats it with care, just as Christ nourishes and treats the church with care,
Walay bisan kinsa nga magdumot sa iyang kaugalingong lawas, apan iya kining gimatuto ug gihigugma, sama kang Cristo sad nga naghigugma sa Iglesia,
30 because we are members of his body.
tungod kay membro kita sa iyang lawas.
31 “For this reason a man will leave his father and mother and will be joined to his wife, and the two will become one flesh.”
Tungod niini nga hinungdan ang lalaki mobiya sa iyang amahan ug inahan ug siya makig-usa sa iyang asawa; ug ang duha mahimong usa ka unod.
32 This hidden truth is great—but I am speaking about Christ and the church.
Kini dakung kamatuoran nga tinago, apan ako nagsulti bahin kang Cristo ug sa iyang Iglesia.
33 Nevertheless, each of you also must love his own wife as himself, and the wife must respect her husband.
Bisan pa niini, ang matag usa kaninyo kinahanglan higugmaon niya ang iyang kaugalingong asawa sama sa iyang kaugalingon, ug ang asawa kinahanglan motahod sa iyang bana.
