Deuteronomy 32
1 Give ear, you heavens, and let me speak. Let the earth listen to the words of my mouth.
“Hỡi trời, hãy lắng nghe, ta sẽ nói! Hỡi đất, hãy nghe lời ta nói!
2 Let my teaching drop down like the rain, let my speech distill like the dew, like the gentle rain on the tender grass, and like the showers on the plants.
Lời ta êm nhẹ như sương sa, có lúc tầm tã như mưa móc. Nhuần tưới đồng xanh và thảo mộc.
3 For I will proclaim the name of Yahweh, and ascribe greatness to our God.
Ta tung hô Danh Chúa Vĩnh Hằng; ca tụng công ơn Đức Chúa Trời vĩ đại.
4 The Rock, his work is perfect; for all his paths are just. He is the faithful God, without iniquity. He is just and upright.
Chúa là Vầng Đá hiên ngang. Đường lối Ngài chính là công lý. Tuyệt đối chính trực và công bằng; luôn thành tín, không hề nhiễm tội!
5 They have acted corruptly against him. They are not his children. It is their disgrace. They are a perverted and crooked generation.
Nhưng Ít-ra-ên phản phúc thình lình; không tình nghĩa cha con. Họ là một giống nòi lừa đảo, thông gian.
6 Do you reward Yahweh in this way, you foolish and senseless people? Is he not your father, the one who has created you? He made you and established you.
Phải chăng đây là cách báo đền ơn Chúa, hỡi dân tộc khờ khạo, điên cuồng? Có phải Chúa là Thiên Phụ từ nhân? Đấng chăn nuôi dưỡng dục, tác thành con dân?
7 Call to mind the days of ancient times, think about the years of many ages past. Ask your father and he will show you, your elders and they will tell you.
Thử nhớ lại những ngày dĩ vãng; suy ngẫm về các thế hệ đã qua. Thử hỏi xem các bậc trưởng lão. Họ sẽ ân cần dạy bảo.
8 When the Most High gave the nations their inheritance— when he divided all of mankind, and he set the boundaries of the peoples, as he also fixed the number of their gods.
Khi Đấng Tối Cao phân chia lãnh thổ, phân phối dòng dõi A-đam khắp thế gian, cho mỗi dân tộc đều hưởng một phần, thì Ngài căn cứ trên số dân của cộng đồng con cái Chân Thần.
9 For Yahweh's portion is his people; Jacob is his apportioned inheritance.
Nhưng Chúa là phần của Ít-ra-ên, vì Gia-cốp thuộc về Ngài.
10 He found him in a desert land, and in the barren and howling wilderness; he shielded him and cared for him, he guarded him as the apple of his eye.
Chúa tìm thấy họ trong hoang mạc, giữa tiếng gào thét của chốn hoang vu; bảo vệ họ như con ngươi tròng mắt.
11 As an eagle that guards her nest and flutters over her young, Yahweh spread out his wings and took them, and carried them on his pinions.
Như phụng hoàng lay động tổ, bay quanh các con bé bỏng mình, dang cánh ra hứng đỡ, rồi cõng đàn con trên cánh.
12 Yahweh alone led him; no foreign god was with him.
Dân ta cũng được Ngài dắt dìu; chỉ có Chúa, chẳng có thần nào khác.
13 He made him ride on high places of the land, and he fed him the fruits of the field; he nourished him with honey from the rock, and oil from the flinty crag.
Ngài cho họ ở trên đồi cao, hưởng hoa màu của đất. Đá lửa bỗng phun dầu, khe núi tuôn dòng mật.
14 He ate butter from the herd and drank milk from the flock, with fat of lambs, rams of Bashan and goats, with the finest of the wheat— and you drank foaming wine made from the juice of grapes.
Họ được sữa bò, chiên dư dật, lấy giống chiên, dê đực, dê Ba-san. Gieo giống lúa mì thượng hạng, và uống rượu nho thuần chất.
15 But Jeshurun grew fat and kicked— you grew fat, you were too fat, and you had eaten your fill— he abandoned the God who made him, and he rejected the Rock of his salvation.
Nhưng khi Ít-ra-ên vừa mập béo, liền từ bỏ Đức Chúa Trời, là Đấng Sáng Tạo, coi rẻ Vầng Đá cứu chuộc họ.
16 They made Yahweh jealous by their strange gods; with their abominations they angered him.
Họ cúng thờ thần tượng xa lạ khiến Ngài ghen tức, làm những việc ghê tởm để chọc giận Ngài.
17 They sacrificed to demons, which are not God— gods they had not known, gods that recently appeared, gods your fathers did not fear.
Họ dâng lễ vật cho quỷ chứ không thờ Đức Chúa Trời, cúng tế các thần xa lạ họ và tổ tiên chưa từng biết.
18 You have deserted the Rock, who became your father, and you forgot the God who gave you birth.
Họ không chú tâm đến Vầng Đá sáng tạo; lãng quên Đức Chúa Trời sinh thành họ.
19 Yahweh saw this and he rejected them, because his sons and his daughters provoked him so.
Thấy thế, Chúa Hằng Hữu buộc lòng ghét bỏ. Vì con cái Chúa dám khiêu khích Ngài.
20 “I will hide my face from them,” he said, “and I will see what their end will be; for they are a perverse generation, children who are unfaithful.
Chúa phán: ‘Ta sẽ lánh mặt; để xem cuối cùng họ ra sao! Họ chỉ là một dòng giống bất trung gian tà.
21 They have made me jealous by what is not god and angered me by their worthless things. I will make them envious by those who are not a people; by a foolish nation I will make them angry.
Họ làm Ta gớm ghét các tượng họ thờ, dù đó chỉ là tượng vô dụng, vô tri, chứ chẳng phải là thần. Ta sẽ làm cho họ ganh với nhiều dân; làm cho họ tị hiềm những dân ngoại.
22 For a fire is kindled by my anger and is burning to the lowest Sheol; it is devouring the earth and its harvest; it is setting on fire the foundations of the mountains. (Sheol h7585)
Vì lửa giận Ta bốc cháy và thiêu đốt Âm Phủ đến tận đáy. Đốt đất và hoa mầu ruộng đất, thiêu rụi cả nền tảng núi non. (Sheol h7585)
23 I will heap disasters on them; I will shoot all my arrows at them;
Tai họa sẽ chồng chất, Ta bắn tên trúng vào người họ.
24 They will be wasted by hunger and devoured by burning heat and bitter destruction; I will send on them the teeth of wild animals, with the poison of things that crawl in the dust.
Họ sẽ bị tiêu hao vì đói khát, thiêu nuốt vì nhiệt, và bệnh dịch độc địa. Ta sẽ sai thú dữ cắn xé họ, cùng với các loài rắn rít đầy nọc độc.
25 Outside the sword will bereave, and in the bedrooms terror will do so. It will destroy both young man and virgin, the nursing baby, and the man of gray hairs.
Bên ngoài, rừng gươm giáo vây quanh, bên trong, nhung nhúc “kinh hoàng trùng,” già trẻ lớn bé đều tiêu vong.
26 I said that I would scatter them far away, that I would make the memory of them to cease from among mankind.
Ta định phân tán họ đến các nơi xa, và xóa sạch tàn tích dân này.
27 Were it not that I feared the provocation of the enemy, and that their enemies would judge mistakenly, and that they would say, 'Our hand is exalted,' I would have done all this.
Thế nhưng, Ta nghĩ rằng kẻ thù sẽ hiểu lầm, tự phụ: “Ta đánh Ít-ra-ên tan tành. Chứ Chúa có giúp gì cho họ đâu!”’
28 For Israel is a nation devoid of wisdom, and there is no understanding in them.
Ít-ra-ên là một dân có óc lại ngu đần, thiếu hiểu biết.
29 Oh, that they were wise, that they understood this, that they would consider their coming fate!
Ước gì họ khôn ngoan! Ý thức được cuối cùng họ sẽ ra sao!
30 How could one chase a thousand, and two put ten thousand to flight, unless their Rock had sold them, and Yahweh had given them up?
Vì sao một người đuổi nghìn người chạy trốn? Hai tên địch đuổi nổi mười nghìn lính Ít-ra-ên? Vì Vầng Đá đã bán họ, Chúa lìa bỏ họ.
31 For our enemies' rock is not like our Rock, just as even our enemies admit.
Nhưng hòn đá của kẻ thù đâu sánh nổi với Vầng Đá của chúng ta, chính kẻ thù cũng phải nhìn nhận.
32 For their vine comes from the vine of Sodom, and from the fields of Gomorrah; their grapes are grapes of poison; their clusters are bitter.
Quân thù trồng các loại nho trong vườn Sô-đôm với cánh đồng Gô-mô-rơ. Nhưng sinh toàn trái nho độc, chua, và đắng.
33 Their wine is the poison of serpents and the cruel venom of asps.
Rượu nho của họ là nọc độc rắn.
34 Is not this plan secretly kept by me, sealed up among my treasures?
Chúa Hằng Hữu phán: ‘Ta đã thu thập và tồn trữ toàn dân như châu báu trong kho tàng.
35 Vengeance is mine to give, and recompense, at the time when their foot slips; for the day of disaster for them is near, and the things that are to come on them will hurry to happen.”
Báo ứng là việc của Ta; Ta sẽ làm cho kẻ thù trượt ngã. Vì tai họa ào đến, diệt họ trong nháy mắt.’
36 For Yahweh will give justice to his people, and he will pity his servants. He will see that their power is gone, and no one remains, either slaves or free people.
Chúa sẽ xét xử dân Ngài cách công minh, xót thương tôi trai tớ gái mình khi thấy năng lực họ tàn tắt, người tự do lẫn nô lệ.
37 Then he will say, “Where are their gods, the rock in whom they took refuge?—
Ngài phán: ‘Các thần họ đâu rồi? Các vầng đá họ ẩn thân đâu?
38 The gods who ate the fat of their sacrifices and drank the wine of their drink offerings? Let them rise up and help you; let them be your protection.
Thần được họ cúng tế rượu, mỡ, bây giờ đã ở đâu? Kêu chúng dậy giúp đỡ ngươi! Và bảo bọc các ngươi đi!
39 See now that I, even I, am God, and that there is no god besides me; I kill, and I make alive; I wound, and I heal, and there is no one who can save you from my might.
Chỉ có một mình Ta là Chân Thần. Ta giết và truyền cho sự sống, gây thương tích, rồi chữa lành; chẳng quyền lực nào của trần gian giải thoát nổi người nào khỏi tay Ta!
40 For I lift up my hand to heaven and say, 'As I live forever, I will act.
Ta đưa tay lên thề: “Thật như Ta Hằng Sống,
41 When I sharpen my glittering sword, and when my hand begins to bring justice, I will render vengeance on my enemies, and I will pay back those who hate me.
Ta sẽ mài gươm sáng loáng, tay Ta cầm cán cân công lý, xét xử công minh, đền báo lại, báo ứng những người thù ghét Ta.
42 I will make my arrows drunk with blood, and my sword will devour flesh with the blood of the killed and the captives, and from the heads of the leaders of the enemy.'”
Mũi tên Ta say máu kẻ gian tà, lưỡi gươm Ta nghiến nghiền xương thịt— đẫm máu những người bị giết, gom thủ cấp tướng lãnh địch quân.”’
43 Rejoice, you nations, with God's people, for he will avenge the blood of his servants; he will render vengeance on his enemies, and he will make atonement for his land, for his people.
Này dân các nước thế gian! Hãy cùng dân Chúa hân hoan ca mừng, dù tiêu diệt địch tàn hung, Chúa thương xót mãi dân cùng nước ta.”
44 Moses came and recited all the words of this song in the ears of the people, he, and Joshua son of Nun.
Môi-se và Giô-suê, con của Nun, đọc lại bài ca cho toàn dân nghe.
45 Then Moses finished reciting all these words to all Israel.
Sau khi Môi-se đọc xong,
46 He said to them, “Fix your mind on all the words that I have witnessed to you today, so that you may command your children to keep them, all the words of this law.
ông căn dặn thêm: “Phải cố tâm ghi nhớ mọi điều tôi truyền lại cho anh em hôm nay, để rồi truyền lại cho con cháu mình.
47 For this is no trivial matter for you, because it is your life, and through this thing you will prolong your days in the land that you are going over the Jordan to possess.”
Vì các luật lệ này không phải là những lời nhảm nhí mà là nguồn sống của anh em. Tuân hành các luật lệ này, anh em mới được sống lâu dài trên đất hứa, đất nước bên kia Sông Giô-đan mà anh em sắp chiếm hữu.”
48 Yahweh spoke to Moses on that same day and said,
Cùng ngày hôm ấy, Chúa Hằng Hữu phán bảo Môi-se:
49 “Go up into this range of the mountains of Abarim, up Mount Nebo, which is in the land of Moab, opposite Jericho. You will look at the land of Canaan, which I am giving to the people of Israel as their possession.
“Hãy lên Núi Nê-bô thuộc dãy A-ra-rim trong đất Mô-áp, đối diện Giê-ri-cô để xem đất Ca-na-an là đất Ta cho Ít-ra-ên.
50 You will die on the mountain that you go up, and you will be gathered to your people, as Aaron your fellow Israelite died on Mount Hor and was gathered to his people.
Con sẽ qua đời trên núi ấy, được về cùng các tổ tiên, như A-rôn đã qua đời trên Núi Hô-rơ.
51 This will happen because you were unfaithful to me among the people of Israel at the waters of Meribah in Kadesh, in the wilderness of Zin; because you did not treat me with honor and respect among the people of Israel.
Vì con đã không tôn kính Ta trước mặt người Ít-ra-ên, tại suối nước Mê-ri-ba, vùng Ca-đe trong hoang mạc Xin,
52 For you will see the land before you, but you will not go there, into the land that I am giving to the people of Israel.”
nên con không được vào đất Ta cho Ít-ra-ên, nhưng chỉ được nhìn đất ấy từ xa.”
