< Daniel 8 >

1 In the third year of the reign of King Belshazzar, I, Daniel, had a vision appear to me (after the one that appeared to me at first).
Manghai Belshazzar ram kah a kum thum dongah tah mangthui Te kai Daniel kamah taengah phoe tih lamhma kah te ni kai taengah koep a phoe.
2 I saw in the vision, as I was looking, that I was in the fortress of Susa in the province of Elam. I saw in the vision that I was beside the Ulai Canal.
Mangthui neh ka hmuh bangla a om vaengah ka sawt hatah kamah tah Elam paeng kah Shushan rhalmah im kana om. Mangthui ah koep ka hmuh bal vaengah tah kai he Ulai tuilong ah ka om bal.
3 I looked up and saw before me a ram with two horns, standing beside the canal. One horn was longer than the other, but the longer one grew more slowly than the shorter and was passed up in length by it.
Ka mik te ka huel tih ka sawt vaengah tuilong dan ah tutal pakhat tarha pai. Te te ki panit om tih a ki te bok sen. Pakhat te a pabae lakah sen tih a sen te a hnuk ah thoeng.
4 I saw the ram charging west, then north, and then south; no other animal could stand before him. None of them was able to rescue anyone out of his hand. He did whatever he wanted, and he became great.
Tutal te ka hmuh vaengah khotlak la, tlangpuei la, tuithim la a thoeh tih mulhing boeih loh a mikhmuh ah pai thai pawh. Anih kut lamloh aka huul khaw a om pawt dongah a kolonah bangla a saii tih rhoeng.
5 As I was thinking about this, I saw a male goat come from the west, who went across the surface of the whole earth, running fast, not seeming to touch the ground. The goat had a large horn between his eyes.
Kai khaw ka om na kungah ka yakming vaengah khotlak lamkah maae tal tarha ha thoeng. Te longTe diklai hmai boeih a poe tih diklai khaw ben pawh. Maae tal Te a mik laklo ah mingphanah ki om.
6 He came to the ram who had two horns—I had seen the ram standing on the bank of the canal—and the goat ran toward the ram in a powerful rage.
Te vaengah ki boei tutal taengla cet tih tuilong hmai ah a pai te ka hmuh. Te phoeiah a taengla a thadueng kosi neh yong.
7 I saw the goat come close to the ram. He was very angry at the ram, and he hit the ram and broke off its two horns. The ram was powerless to stand before him. The goat knocked him down to the ground and trampled on him. There was no one who could rescue the ram from his power.
Te phoeiah tutal taengla a ben tih tutal te a phaep. Tutal te a thoeh tih a ki rhoi te tlawt. Tutal Te anih hmai ah pai hamla a khuiah thadueng khueh pawt tih diklai la a voeih. Tutal te a suntlae tih anih kut lamloh aka huul om pawh.
8 Then the goat became very large. But when he became strong, the large horn was broken, and in its place four other large horns grew up that pointed toward the four winds of the heavens.
Maae tal bahoeng rhoeng tih a thaom dae a ki len tah tlawt. Te phoeiah a yueng pali Te mingphanah la cawn tih vaan khohli pali taengla hoiuh.
9 Out of one of them grew another horn, little at first, but which became very large in the south, in the east, and in the land of beauty.
Te rhoek khuiah pakhat dong lamloh a ki noe pakhat cawn dae tuithim la, khocuk la, kirhang taengla muep rhoeng.
10 It became so large as to engage in war with the army of heaven. Some of that army and some of the stars were thrown down to the earth, and it trampled on them.
Vaan caempuei taengla rhoeng tih caempuei taeng lamloh, aisi taeng lamloh diklai la cungku tih amih te a suntlae.
11 It made itself to be as great as the commander of the army. It took away from him the regular burnt offering, and the place of his sanctuary was polluted.
Te phoeiah caempuei mangpa la a pomsang dae anih lamkah sainoek te a kuel a kuel tih a rhokso hmuen te a voeih pah.
12 Because of rebellion, the army will be given over to the goat's horn, and the burnt offering will be stopped. The horn will throw truth down to the ground, and it will succeed in what it does.
Boekoeknah he caempuei neh sainoek yueng la a khueh. Te vaengah oltak Te diklai la a voeih tih a saii daengah thaihtak.
13 Then I heard a holy one speaking and another holy one answering him, “How long will these things last, this vision about the burnt offering, the sin that brings destruction, the handing over of the sanctuary, and heaven's army being trampled on?”
Te phoeiah hlangcim pakhat loh a thui te ka yaak tih, “Hlangcim pakhat loh pakhat taengah, 'Sainoek kah mangthui khaw me hil nim a thui ve? Boekoeknah loh hmuencim te dingrhak la khueh ham neh caempuei kah cawtkoi ham khaw,” a ti.
14 He said to me, “It will last for 2,300 evenings and mornings. After that the sanctuary will be put right.”
Te vaengah kai taengah, “Hlaem mincang thawng hnih ya thum duela om vetih hmuencim te a ciim ni,” a ti.
15 When I, Daniel, had seen the vision, I tried to understand it. Then there stood before me one who looked like a man.
Kai Daniel kamah khaw mangthui ka hmuh vaengah yakmingnah ka tlap. Te vaengah hlang kah mueimae bangla kamah hmai ah tarha pai.
16 I heard a man's voice calling between the banks of the Ulai Canal. He said, “Gabriel, help this man understand the vision.”
Ulai lamkah hlang ol ka yaak vaengah pang tih, “Gabriel, a hmuethma he n'yakming sak lah,” a ti.
17 So he came near where I stood. When he came, I was frightened and prostrated myself on the ground. He said to me, “Understand, son of man, that the vision is for the time of the end.”
Te dongah ka paihmuen la ha thoeih tih anih ham pha vaengah ka let. Ka maelhmai dongah ka bakop dae kai te, “Hlang capa aw, mangthui a bawtnah tue te yakming laeh,” a ti.
18 When he spoke to me, I fell into a deep sleep with my face to the ground. Then he touched me and made me stand up.
Kai ham a thui vaengah ka maelhmai neh diklai la ka ip coeng. Tedae kai te n'taek tih ka paihmuen la kai n'thoh.
19 He said, “See, I will show you what will happen later in the time of wrath, because the vision concerns the appointed time for the end.
Te phoeiah, “A bawtnah khoning vaengkah kosi bawtnah dongah aka om ham te nang taengah kan ming sak ne,” a ti.
20 As for the ram you saw, the one that had two horns—they are the kings of Media and Persia.
Tutal ki boei na hmuh te Madai neh Persia manghai ne.
21 The male goat is the king of Greece. The large horn between his eyes is the first king.
Maae tal tah Greek manghai tih a mik laklo kah ki a len tah lamhma kah manghai ni.
22 As for the horn that was broken, in the place of which four others arose—four kingdoms will arise from his nation, but not with his great power.
Te te a tlawt phoeiah a yueng pali a cawn he namtom lamkah ram pali pai suidae a thadueng neh om mahpawh.
23 At the latter time of those kingdoms, when the transgressors shall have reached their limit, a grim-faced king, one who is very intelligent, will arise.
Hmailong ah amih ram khaw boekoek cung vetih maelhmai aka tlung neh olkael aka yakming manghai phoe ni.
24 His power will be great—but not by his own power. He will be amazing in what he destroys; he will act and succeed. He will destroy powerful people, people among the holy ones.
Te vaengah a thadueng rhoeng suidae a thadueng neh om mahpawh. Khobaerhambae khaw a phae vetih thaihtak ni. Te phoeiah a saii vetih pilnu neh pilnam cim khaw a phae ni.
25 By his craftiness he will make deceit prosper under his hand. He will become great in his own mind. He will unexpectedly destroy many people. He will even rise up against the King of kings, and he will be broken, but not by any human hand.
A lungmingnah nen khaw, a kut dongkah thailatnah nen khaw thaihtak vetih a thinko ah pomsang ni. Ommongnah dongah khaw muep paci vetih mangpa rhoek kah mangpa taengah pai bal ni. Tedae hlang kut mueh nen ni a. bawt eh.
26 The vision about the evenings and mornings that has been told is true. But seal up the vision, for it refers to many days in the future.”
Hlaem neh mincang kah a hmuethma loh oltak amah te a thui coeng. Tedae namah kum a sen ham la mangthui Te khoem laeh.
27 Then I, Daniel, was overcome and lay weak for several days. Then I got up, and went about the king's business. But I was appalled by the vision, and there was no one who understood it.
Kai Daniel khaw ka om dae khohnin loh nue coeng. Ka thoh neh manghai kah bitat te ka saii. Te dongah a hmuethma nen khaw ka pong tih ka yakming voel pawh.
