Amos 5
1 Hear this word that I take up as a lament over you, house of Israel.
ए इस्राएलको घराना, तिमीहरूका विषयमा मेरो यो विलापको वचन सुन ।
2 The virgin Israel has fallen; she will rise no more; she is forsaken on her land; there is no one to raise her up.
कुमारी इस्राएल पतन भएकी छ, त्यो फेरि उठ्नेछैन, त्यो आफ्नै भूमिमा त्यागिएकी छ, त्यसलाई उठाउने त्यहाँ कोही छैन ।
3 For this is what the Lord Yahweh says: “The city that went out with a thousand will have a hundred left, and the one that went out with a hundred will have ten left belonging to the house of Israel.”
किनभने परमप्रभु परमेश्वर यस्तो भन्नुहुन्छः “इस्राएलको घरानामा भएकाका, एक हजार जना लिएर निस्केको सहरमा सय जना बाँकी हुनेछन्, र सय जना लिएर निस्केको सहरमा दस जना बाँकी हुनेछन् ।”
4 For this is what Yahweh says to the house of Israel: “Seek me and live!
किनभने इस्राएलको घरानालाई परमप्रभु यस्तो भन्नुहुन्छः “मेरो खोजी गर र जीवित रहो!
5 Do not seek Bethel; nor enter Gilgal; do not journey to Beersheba. For Gilgal will surely go into captivity, and Bethel will become nothing.
बेथेलको खोजी नगर, न त गिलगालमा प्रवेश गर, बेर्शेबातर्फ यात्रा नगर । किनभने गिलगाल निश्चय नै कैदमा जानेछ, र बेथेल शून्य हुनेछ ।
6 Seek Yahweh and live, or he will break out like fire in the house of Joseph. It will devour, and there will be no one to quench it in Bethel.
परमप्रभुको खोजी गर र जीवित रहो, नत्रता उहाँ योसेफको घरानामा आगोझैं दन्कनुहुनेछ । त्यसले भस्म पार्नेछ र बेथेलमा त्यसलाई निभाउने कुनै व्यक्ति हुनेछैन ।
7 Those people turn justice into a bitter thing and throw righteousness down to the ground!”
ती मानिसहरूले इन्साफलाई एउटा तितो कुरामा परिणत गर्छन् र धार्मिकतालाई भुइँमा फालिदिन्छन्!”
8 God made the Pleiades and Orion; he turns darkness into the morning; he makes the day dark with night and calls for the waters of the sea; he pours them out on the surface of the earth. Yahweh is his name!
परमेश्वरले किरकिटी र मृगशिरालाई बनाउनुभयो । उहाँले अन्धकारलाई बिहानमा परिणत गर्नुहुन्छ । उहाँले दिनलाई रातको अन्धकार बनाउनुहुन्छ र समुद्रको पानीलाई बोलाउनुहुन्छ । उहाँले त्यसलाई पृथ्वीको सतहमा खन्याउनुहुन्छ । उहाँको नाउँ परमप्रभु हो ।
9 He brings sudden destruction on the strong so that destruction comes on the fortresses.
उहाँले बलियामाथि एक्कासि विनाश ल्यानुहुन्छ, जसले गर्दा किल्लाहरूमा विनाश आउँछन् ।
10 They hate anyone who corrects them in the city gate, and they abhor anyone who speaks the truth.
सहरको मूलद्वारमा तिनीहरूलाई ठिक कुरा सिकाउनेलाई तिनीहरू घृणा गर्छन्, र सत्य बोल्नेलाई कुनै पनि व्यक्तिलाई तिनीहरू उपहास गर्छन् ।
11 Because you trample down the poor and take portions of wheat from him— although you have built houses of worked stone, you will not live in them. You have delightful vineyards, but you will not drink their wine.
किनभने तिमीहरूले गरिबहरूलाई कुल्चिन्छौ र ऊबाट गहुँको भाग लिन्छौ— तिमीहरूले कँदेका ढुङ्गाले घरहरू बनाएको भए तापनि, तिमीहरू त्यसमा बस्नेछैनौ । तिमीहरूसँग लहलहाउँदा दाखबारीहरू छन्, तर तिमीहरूले त्यसको दाखमद्य पाउनेछैनौ ।
12 For I know how many are your offenses and how great are your sins— you who afflict the just, take bribes, and turn aside the needy in the city gate.
किनकि तिमीहरूका अपराधहरू कति छन् अनि तिमीहरूका पाप कति ठुला छन् भनी म जान्दछु— तिमीहरू जसले धर्मीलाई कष्ट दिन्छौ, घूस लिन्छौ, र सहरको मूलद्वारका दरिद्रहरूको न्यायहरण गर्छौ
13 Therefore any prudent person is silent at such a time, for it is an evil time.
यसकारण यस्तो समयमा विवेकी मानिस पनि चूपै लाग्छ, किनभने यो खराब समय हो ।
14 Seek good and not evil, so that you may live. So Yahweh, the God of hosts, will really be with you, as you say he is.
असल कुराको खोजी गर, खराबको होइन, जसले गर्दा तिमीहरू बाँच्नेछौ । यसरी तिमीहरूले भनेझैं, परमप्रभु, सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्वर, साँच्चै नै तिमीहरूसँग हुनुहुनेछ ।
15 Hate evil, love good, establish justice in the city gate. Perhaps Yahweh, the God of hosts, will be gracious to the remnant of Joseph.
दुष्टतालाई घृणा गर, असल कुरालाई प्रेम गर, सहरको मूलद्वारमा न्याय कायम गर । सायद परमप्रभु, सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्वर योसेफका बाँकी रहेकाहरूसँग अनुग्रही हुनुहुनेछ ।
16 Therefore, this is what Yahweh says, the God of hosts, the Lord, “Wailing will be in all the squares, and they will say in all the streets, 'Woe! Woe!' They will call the farmers to mourning and the mourners to wail.
यसकारण, परमप्रभु, सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्वर यस्तो भन्नुहुन्छ, “सबै चोकहरूमा रुवाबासी हुनेछ, र तिनीहरूले सबै सडकहरूमा यस्तो भन्नेछन्, ‘धिक्कार! धिक्कार!’ तिनीहरूले किसानहरूलाई विलाप गर्न र मलामीहरूलाई शोक गर्न बोलाउनेछन् ।
17 In all vineyards there will be wailing, for I will pass through your midst,” says Yahweh.
सबै दाखबारीहरूमा रुवाबासी हुनेछ, किनकि म तिमीहरूका बिचबाट भएर जानेछु,” परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ ।
18 Woe to you who desire the day of Yahweh! Why do you long for the day of Yahweh? It will be darkness and not light,
परमप्रभुको दिन चाहना गर्नेहरूलाई धिक्कार! तिमीहरू किन परमप्रभुको दिनको चाहना गर्दछौ? त्यो उज्यालो होइन तर अन्धकार हुनेछ,
19 as when a man flees from a lion and a bear meets him, or he goes in a house and puts his hand on the wall and a snake bites him.
जसरी कोही मानिस एउटा सिंहबाट भाग्छ र एउटा भालुले उसलाई भेटाउँछ, अर्थात् ऊ कुनै घरभित्र जान्छ र आफ्नो हात भित्तामा राख्छ अनि एउटा सर्पले उसलाई डस्छ ।
20 Will not the day of Yahweh be darkness and not light? Gloom and no brightness?
के परमप्रभुको दिन उज्यालो नभई अन्धकार हुनेछैन र? अन्धकार र कुनै उज्यालो नभएको?
21 “I hate, I despise your festivals, I take no delight in your solemn assemblies.
“म तिमीहरूका चाडहरूलाई घृणा गर्दछु, म तिरस्कार गर्दछु, तिमीहरूका धार्मिक सभाहरूमा म खुसी हुन्नँ ।
22 Even though you offer me your burnt offerings and grain offerings, I will not accept them, neither will I look at the fellowship offerings of your fattened animals.
तिमीहरूले मलाई होमबलि र अन्नबलि चढाए तापनि, म ती ग्रहण गर्नेछैनँ, न त तिमीहरूका मोटा पशुहरूको मेलबलि नै म हेर्नेछु ।
23 Remove from me the noise of your songs; I will not listen to the sound of your harps.
तिमीहरूका गीतहरूको हल्ला मबाट हटाओ । तिमीहरूका वीणाहरूका धुन म सुन्नेछैनँ ।
24 Instead, let justice flow like water, and righteousness like a constantly flowing stream.
बरु, इन्साफ पानीझैं बगोस्, र धार्मिकताचाहिं निरन्तर बगिरहने खोलाझैं होस् ।
25 Did you bring me sacrifices and offerings in the wilderness for forty years, house of Israel?
ए इस्राएलको घराना, चालिस वर्ष मरुभूमिमा हुँदा, के तिमीहरूले मेरो निम्ति बलिदानहरू र भेटीहरू ल्यायौ र?
26 You have lifted up the images of Sikkuth, your king, and Kaiwan, your star god, which you made for yourselves.
तिमीहरूले आफ्ना राजा सिक्कुथ, र आफ्ना तारा-देवता काइवानको मूर्ति खडा गरेका छौ, जसलाई तिमीहरूले आफ्ना निम्ति बनायौ ।
27 Therefore I will exile you beyond Damascus,” says Yahweh, whose name is the God of hosts.
यसकारण म तिमीहरूलाई दमस्मसभन्दा पर निर्वासनमा पठाउनेछु,” परमप्रभु भन्नुहुन्छ, जसको नाउँ सर्वशक्तिमान् परमेश्वर हो ।
