Acts 28
1 When we were brought safely through, we learned that the island was called Malta.
Após chegarmos (excl) sãos e salvos [na praia, ]soubemos que se tratava de uma ilha chamada {que as pessoas chamavam} Malta.
2 The native people offered to us not just ordinary kindness, but they lit a fire and welcomed us all, because of the constant rain and cold.
As pessoas que moravam lá nos acolheram bem/bondosamente. Acenderam uma fogueira e nos convidaram a nos aquecermos, pois chovia e fazia frio.
3 But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and placed them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened onto his hand.
Paulo juntou uns galhos e os jogou na fogueira. Mas uma cobra saiu [do fogo, fugindo ]do calor, agarrou-se na mão de Paulo.
4 When the native people saw the animal hanging from his hand, they said one to another, “This man certainly is a murderer who escaped from the sea, yet justice does not permit him to live.”
[Os habitantes da ilha sabiam que a cobra era venenosa, portanto, ]ao vê-la pendente da mão de Paulo, disseram uns aos outros: “Esse homem pode ter matado alguém. Embora tenha escapado de se afogar, [o Deus que retribui ]os pecados [das pessoas ][MTY] vai fazê-lo morrer”.
5 But then he shook the animal into the fire and suffered no harm.
Mas Paulo sacudiu a cobra e ela caiu no fogo, sem nada de mal acontecer a ele.
6 They were waiting for him to become inflamed with a fever or to suddenly drop dead. But after they watched him for a long time and saw that nothing was unusual with him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.
As pessoas esperavam que Paulo ficasse inchado ou caísse morto de repente. Mas após bastante tempo, viram [que a cobra ]não lhe tinha feito nenhum mal. Portanto mudaram de ideia, dizendo [umas às outras: ]“Esse homem não é assassino! Pode até ser um deus”!
7 Now in a nearby place there were lands belonging to the chief man of the island, a man named Publius. He welcomed us and kindly provided for us for three days.
Próximo ao local onde tinha sido acendida a fogueira, havia um campo agrícola que pertencia a um homem chamado Públio. Ele era o chefe-mor da ilha. Públio nos convidou a [ir hospedar-nos na ]casa dele. [Ele nos levou até lá ]e cuidou de nós durante três dias.
8 It happened that the father of Publius had been made ill with a fever and dysentery. When Paul went to him, he prayed, placed his hands on him, and healed him.
[Naquela altura ]o pai de Públio estava com febre e disenteria e estava deitado [na cama. ]Por isso Paulo o visitou e orou por [ele. Logo ]Paulo lhe impôs as mãos e o curou da doença.
9 After this happened, the rest of the people on the island who were sick also came and were healed.
Após Paulo fazer isso, os demais habitantes da ilha que padeciam de alguma enfermidade vieram ter [com ele/encontrá-lo ]e foram curados {[ele ]os curou}.
10 The people also honored us with many honors. When we were preparing to sail, they gave us what we needed.
Eles nos trouxeram presentes [e mostravam de outras maneiras que ]nos respeitavam profundamente. [Três meses depois, ]quando estávamos [prestes ]a partir, eles nos trouxeram comida e outras coisas de que precisaríamos [no navio].
11 After three months we set sail in an ship that had spent the winter at the island, a ship of Alexandria, with “the twin gods” as it figurehead.
Após [ficarmos lá ]durante três meses, [embarcamos ]num navio [que partia com destino à Itália e ]iniciamos nossa viagem. O navio tinha ficado n[um porto ]da ilha durante os meses tormentosos. Tinha vindo da [cidade de ]Alexandria. Havia na proa do navio imagens dos deuses gêmeos, [Cástor e Pólux. ]
12 After we landed at the city of Syracuse, we stayed there three days.
[Navegamos da ilha e ]chegamos à [cidade de ]Siracusa [na ilha de Sicília, ]onde passamos três dias.
13 From there we sailed and arrived at the city of Rhegium. After one day a south wind sprang up, and in two days we came to the city of Puteoli.
Então viajamos de navio e chegamos [ao porto de ]Régio, [na Itália. ]No dia seguinte, chegamos à [cidade de ]Putéoli, [onde desembarcamos do navio].
14 There we found some brothers and were invited to stay with them for seven days. In this way we came to Rome.
Em Putéoli, deparamos com alguns cristãos, que nos convidaram {por quem fomos convidados} a nos hospedar com eles durante uma semana. [Após visitá-los, saímos dali e passamos a viajar por terra, ]com destino à [cidade de ]Roma.
15 From there the brothers, after they heard about us, came to meet us as far as The Market of Appius and The Three Taverns. When Paul saw the brothers, he thanked God and took courage.
[Alguns ]cristãos [que moravam em Roma ]tinham ouvido que nós (excl) [nos aproximávamos da cidade. ]Portanto eles saíram [de Roma ]ao nosso encontro. [Alguns ]deles se encontraram conosco na [cidadezinha que as pessoas chamam ]‘a Feira na [Via ]de Ápio’, e outros vieram ter conosco na [cidadezinha que as pessoas chamam ]‘as Três Vendas’. Quando Paulo se encontrou com esses cristãos, ele deu graças a Deus e ficou mais animado.
16 When we entered Rome, Paul was allowed to live by himself with the soldier who was guarding him.
Após chegarmos (excl) em Roma, Paulo obteve licença para morar{[um oficial romano, designado para guardar Paulo, ]permitiu que ele morasse} [numa casa ]independente. [Contudo, havia sempre por perto ]um soldado para guardá-lo.
17 Then it came about that after three days Paul called together those men who were the leaders among the Jews. When they had come together, he said to them, “Brothers, although I have done nothing wrong against the people or the customs of our fathers, I was delivered as a prisoner from Jerusalem into the hands of the Romans.
Depois de ficar lá três dias, Paulo mandou um recado aos líderes dos judeus, convidando-os [a virem conversar com ele. Portanto ]eles vieram, e Paulo lhes disse: “Meus irmãos judeus, embora eu não me oponha ao nosso povo, nem fale contra os costumes dos nossos antepassados, [nossos líderes ]em Jerusalém [me prenderam ][MTY]. [Mas antes que me pudessem matar, um comandante romano me resgatou e posteriormente me mandou à Cesareia ]para que [os oficiais ]romanos me [pudessem julgar. ]
18 After they questioned me, they wished to set me free, because there was no reason in me for a death penalty.
Os oficiais romanos me interrogaram e quiseram me soltar, pois eu não tinha feito nada [de mal ]pelo qual eles devessem executar-/matar-me.
19 But when the Jews spoke against their desire, I was forced to appeal to Caesar, although it is not as if I were bringing any accusation against my nation.
Mas quando os [líderes ]judaicos [SYN] lá se opuseram [àquilo que os oficiais romanos desejavam fazer, ]fui obrigado a pedir formalmente que o Imperador [me julgasse aqui em Roma. ]Mas não fiz isso por querer acusar nossos líderes de nada.
20 Because of my appeal, then, I have asked to see you and to speak with you. It is because of the certain hope of Israel that I am bound with this chain.”
Por isso pedi que vocês [viessem ]aqui para eu lhes explicar por que estou preso. É porque creio em [MTY] nosso Messias [que Deus prometeu, há muito tempo, mandar ]a nós (incl) judeus”.
21 Then they said to him, “We neither received letters from Judea about you, nor did any of the brothers come and report or say anything bad about you.
Então os líderes judaicos disseram: “Nós (excl) não recebemos nenhuma carta a seu respeito [dos irmãos judeus ]na Judeia. Como também, nenhum dos nossos irmãos judeus vindos [da Judeia ]disse nada negativo sobre você.
22 But we want to hear from you what you think about this sect, because it is known by us that it is spoken against everywhere.”
Mas desejamos (excl) ouvir o que você acha dessa seita [cristã, ]pois sabemos que em muitos lugares [HYP] se fazem críticas {as pessoas fazem críticas} dela”.
23 When they had set a day for him, more people came to him at his dwelling place. He presented the matter to them, and testified about the kingdom of God. He tried to persuade them about Jesus, both from the law of Moses and from the prophets, from morning until evening.
Por isso [eles conversaram com Paulo e resolveram voltar, em outra ocasião, para ouvi-lo falar. Quando chegou o dia oportuno, ]aqueles judeus voltaram ao lugar onde Paulo estava hospedado, trazendo consigo mais judeus. Paulo conversou com eles o dia inteiro {da manhã até a noite} sobre como Deus quer governar [a vida dos seres humanos ][MET]. Ele tentou convencê-los de ser Jesus [o Messias, ]lembrando-lhes o que Moisés e os demais profetas escreveram [MTY].
24 Some were convinced about the things which were said, while others did not believe.
Alguns daqueles judeus acreditaram [ser verdade ]o que [Paulo ]disse {que foi dito [por Paulo]} sobre Jesus, mas outros [não deram fé ]às/acreditaram nas palavras dele.
25 When they did not agree with one another, they left after Paul had spoken this one word, “The Holy Spirit spoke well through Isaiah the prophet to your fathers.
Por isso eles começaram a discutir uns com os outros. [Paulo percebeu que alguns deles não queriam ouvi-lo, e ]quando eles estavam para sair, ele disse: “O Espírito Santo disse algo aos seus antepassados. Ele proferiu estas palavras a Isaías o profeta, [e aquilo que disse se refere também a vocês: ]
26 He said, 'Go to this people and say, “By hearing you will hear, but not understand; and seeing you will see, but will not perceive.
Diga aos seus irmãos israelitas: ‘Vocês escutam repetidamente [a mensagem de Deus, ] mas nunca conseguem entender [o que Deus está dizendo. ] Vocês contemplam repetidamente [as coisas que Deus faz, ] mas nunca conseguem entender [o significado delas]’”.
27 For the heart of this people has become dull, and with their ears they hardly hear, and they have shut their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, and hear with their ears, and understand with their heart and turn again, and I would heal them.”'
[Deus disse ao profeta]: “Estas pessoas [não entendem, pois ]se tornaram teimosas/inflexíveis. Têm ouvidos, mas não [entendem o que ]ouvem e fecharam os olhos pois [não querem ver. ] Se tivessem desejado [obedecer aquilo que lhes digo, ]poderiam entender com o coração aquilo que me contemplam [fazer ]e o que me ouvem [dizer. ] Então elas poderiam até afastar-se do seu mau comportamento, e eu as salvaria”. [Foi isso que Deus disse ao profeta Isaías sobre os judeus/israelitas. ]
28 Therefore, you should know that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles, and they will listen.”
[Mas vocês judeus não querem acreditar na mensagem de Deus. ]Portanto, eu lhes digo que esta mensagem, sobre como Deus salva as pessoas, tem sido mandada aos gentios/não judeus {que [Deus ]tem mandado aos gentios/não judeus esta mensagem sobre como Ele salva as pessoas}, e eles vão ouvi-la [e aceitá-la]”.
30 Paul lived for two whole years in his own rented house, and he welcomed all who came to him.
Durante dois anos completos Paulo ficou [lá ]numa casa alugada. Muitas pessoas vieram ter com ele/encontrá-lo, e ele acolhia todas elas com alegria e [conversava com elas. ]
31 He was proclaiming the kingdom of God and was teaching the things about the Lord Jesus Christ with all boldness. No one stopped him.
Ele pregava [e ensinava ]sobre como Deus pode governar [as vidas humanas ][MET] e ensinava as pessoas sobre o Senhor Jesus Cristo. Procedia assim sem medo, e ninguém tentou impedi-lo. Alguns manuscritos gregos acrescentam o versículo 29, “Depois que Paulo disse isso, os judeus foram embora, discutindo com violência”.
