Acts 16
1 Paul also came to Derbe and to Lystra; and behold, a certain disciple named Timothy was there, the son of a Jewish woman who believed; his father was a Greek.
Ó sì wá sí Dabe àti Lysra: sí kíyèsi i, ọmọ-ẹ̀yìn kan wà níbẹ̀, tí a ń pè ní Timotiu, ọmọ obìnrin kan tí í ṣe Júù, tí ó gbàgbọ́; ṣùgbọ́n Giriki ní baba rẹ̀.
2 He was well spoken of by the brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium.
Ẹni tí a ròhìn rẹ̀ ní rere lọ́dọ̀ àwọn arákùnrin tí ó wà ní Lysra àti Ikoniomu.
3 Paul wanted him to travel with him; so he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.
Òun ni Paulu fẹ́ kí ó bá òun lọ; ó sì mú un, ó sì kọ ọ́ ní ilà, nítorí àwọn Júù tí ó wà ní agbègbè wọ̀nyí, nítorí gbogbo wọn mọ̀ pé, Giriki ni baba rẹ̀.
4 As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to the churches the instructions for them to obey, the instructions that had been written by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem.
Bí wọn sì ti ń la àwọn ìlú lọ, wọ́n ń fi àwọn àṣẹ, tí a tí pinnu láti ọ̀dọ̀ àwọn aposteli àti àwọn alàgbà tí ó wà ní Jerusalẹmu, lé wọn lọ́wọ́ láti máa pa wọ́n mọ́.
5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith and increased in number daily.
Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ìjọ sì fẹsẹ̀múlẹ̀ ní ìgbàgbọ́, wọn sí ń pọ̀ sí i ní iye lójoojúmọ́.
6 Paul and his companions went through the regions of Phrygia and Galatia, since they had been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the word in the province of Asia.
Wọ́n sì la agbègbè Frigia já, àti Galatia, nítorí tí Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ kọ̀ fún wọn láti sọ ọ̀rọ̀ náà ni Asia.
7 When they came near Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus prevented them.
Nígbà tí wọ́n dé ọ̀kánkán Misia, wọ́n gbìyànjú láti lọ sí Bitinia, ṣùgbọ́n Ẹ̀mí Jesu kò gbà fún wọn.
8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to the city of Troas.
Nígbà tí wọ́n sì kọjá lẹ́bàá Misia, wọ́n sọ̀kalẹ̀ lọ sí Troasi.
9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night: A man of Macedonia was standing there, calling him and saying, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.”
Ìran kan si hàn sì Paulu ni òru, ọkùnrin kan ará Makedonia dúró, ó sì ń bẹ̀ ẹ́, wí pé, “Rékọjá wá sí Makedonia, kí o sí ràn wá lọ́wọ́!”
10 When Paul had seen the vision, immediately we set out to go to Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the gospel to them.
Nígbà tí ó sì tí rí ìran náà, lọ́gán ó múra láti lọ sí Makedonia, a ka á sí pé, Ọlọ́run tí pè wá láti wàásù ìyìnrere fún wọn.
11 Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day we came to Neapolis.
Nítorí náà nígbà tí àwa ṣíkọ̀ ní Troasi a ba ọ̀nà tààrà lọ sí Samotrakea, ni ọjọ́ kejì a sì dé Neapoli;
12 From there we went to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the most important city in the district and a Roman colony, and we stayed in this city for several days.
láti ibẹ̀ àwa sì lọ si Filipi, tí í ṣe ìlú Makedonia, olú ìlú ìhà ibẹ̀, ìlú lábẹ́ Romu, àwa sì jókòó ní ìlú yìí fún ọjọ́ mélòó kan.
13 On the Sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer. We sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.
Lọ́jọ́ ìsinmi, àwa sí jáde lọ sí ẹ̀yìn odi ìlú náà, lẹ́bàá odò kan, níbi tí a rò pé ibi àdúrà wà; àwa sí jókòó, a sì bá àwọn obìnrin tí o péjọ sọ̀rọ̀.
14 A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God, listened to us. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.
Àti obìnrin kan tí orúkọ rẹ̀ ń jẹ́ Lidia, elése àlùkò, ará ìlú Tiatira, ẹni tí ó sin Ọlọ́run, ó gbọ́ ọ̀rọ̀ wa, ọkàn ẹni tí Olúwa ṣí láti fetísí ohun tí a tí ẹnu Paulu sọ.
15 When she and her house were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay in house.” And she persuaded us.
Nígbà tí a sí bamitiisi rẹ̀, àti àwọn ara ilé rẹ̀, ó bẹ̀ wá, wí pé, “Bí ẹ̀yin bá kà mí ni olóòtítọ́ sí Olúwa, ẹ wá si ilé mi, kí ẹ sí wọ̀ níbẹ̀!” O sí rọ̀ wá.
16 It came about that, as we were going to the place of prayer, a certain young woman who had a spirit of divination encountered us. She brought her masters much gain by fortunetelling.
Bí àwa tí n lọ sí ibi àdúrà náà, ọmọbìnrin kan tí o ní ẹ̀mí àfọ̀ṣẹ, pàdé wa, ẹni tí ó fi àfọ̀ṣẹ mú èrè púpọ̀ wá fún àwọn ọ̀gá rẹ̀.
17 This woman followed after Paul and us and shouted, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God. They proclaim to you the way of salvation.”
Òun náà ni ó ń tọ Paulu àti àwa lẹ́hìn, ó sì ń kígbe, pé, “Àwọn ọkùnrin wọ̀nyí ni ìránṣẹ́ Ọlọ́run Ọ̀gá-ògo, tí ń kéde ọ̀nà ìgbàlà fún yin!”
18 She did this for many days. But Paul, being greatly annoyed by her, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out right away.
Ó sì ń ṣe èyí lọ́jọ́ púpọ̀, ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí inú Paulu bàjẹ́, tí ó sì yípadà, ó wí fún ẹ̀mí náà pé, “Mo pàṣẹ fún ọ ní orúkọ Jesu Kristi kí o jáde kúrò lára rẹ̀!” Ó sí jáde ni wákàtí kan náà.
19 When her masters saw that their opportunity to make money was now gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities.
Nígbà tí àwọn ọ̀gá rẹ̀ sì rí i pé, ìgbẹ́kẹ̀lé èrè wọn pin, wọ́n mú Paulu àti Sila, wọn sì wọ́ wọn lọ sí ọjà tọ àwọn aláṣẹ lọ.
20 When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are stirring up our city. They are Jews.
Nígbà tí wọ́n sì mú wọn tọ àwọn onídàájọ́ lọ, wọ́n wí pé, “Àwọn ọkùnrin wọ̀nyí tí í ṣe Júù, wọ́n ń yọ ìlú wa lẹ́nu jọjọ,
21 They proclaim customs that are not lawful for Romans to accept or practice.”
wọ́n sì ń kọ́ni ní àṣà tí kò yẹ fún wa, àwa ẹni tí í ṣe ara Romu, láti gbà àti láti tẹ̀lé.”
22 Then the crowd rose up together against Paul and Silas; the magistrates tore their garments off them and commanded them to be beaten with rods.
Ọ̀pọ̀ ènìyàn sí jùmọ̀ dìde sì Paulu àti Sila. Àwọn olórí sí fà wọ́n ní aṣọ ya, wọ́n sí pàṣẹ pé, ki a fi ọ̀gọ̀ lù wọ́n.
23 When they had laid many blows upon them, they threw them into prison and commanded the jailer to keep them securely.
Nígbà tí wọ́n sì lù wọ́n púpọ̀, wọ́n sọ wọ́n sínú túbú, wọ́n kìlọ̀ fún onítúbú kí ó pa wọ́n mọ́ dáradára.
24 After he got this command, the jailer threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.
Nígbà tí ó gbọ́ irú ìkìlọ̀ bẹ́ẹ̀, ó sọ̀ wọ́n sínú túbú tí inú lọ́hùn, ó sí kan àbà mọ wọ́n lẹ́sẹ̀.
25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.
Ṣùgbọ́n láàrín ọ̀gànjọ́ Paulu àti Sila ń gbàdúrà, wọ́n sì ń kọrin ìyìn si Ọlọ́run, àwọn ara túbú sì ń tẹ́tí sí wọn.
26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were unfastened.
Lójijì ilẹ̀ mímì ńlá sì mi, tó bẹ́ẹ̀ tí ìpìlẹ̀ ilé túbú mì tìtì: lọ́gán, gbogbo ìlẹ̀kùn sì ṣí, ìdè gbogbo wọn sì tú sílẹ̀.
27 The jailer was awakened from sleep and saw the open prison doors; he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, because he thought that the prisoners had escaped.
Nígbà tí onítúbú si tají, tí o sì ri pé, àwọn ìlẹ̀kùn túbú tí ṣí sílẹ̀, ó fa idà rẹ̀ yọ, ó sì fẹ́ pa ara rẹ̀, ó ṣe bí àwọn ara túbú ti sálọ.
28 But Paul shouted with a loud voice, saying, “Do not harm yourself, because we are all here.”
Ṣùgbọ́n Paulu gbé ohun rẹ̀ sókè, wí pé, “Má ṣe pa ara rẹ lára: nítorí gbogbo wa ń bẹ níhìn-ín yìí!”
29 The jailer called for lights and rushed in and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,
Nígbà tí ó sì béèrè iná, ó bẹ́ wọ inú ilé, ó ń wárìrì, ó wólẹ̀ níwájú Paulu àti Sila.
30 and brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”
Ó sì mú wọn jáde, ó ní, “Alàgbà, kín ni ki èmi ṣe ki n lè là?”
31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.”
Wọ́n sì wí fún un pé, “Gbá Jesu Kristi Olúwa gbọ́, a ó sì gbà ọ́ là, ìwọ àti àwọn ará ilé rẹ pẹ̀lú.”
32 They spoke the word of the Lord to him, together with everyone in his house.
Wọ́n sì sọ ọ̀rọ̀ Olúwa fún un, àti fún gbogbo àwọn ará ilé rẹ̀.
33 Then the jailer took them at the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he and those in his entire house were baptized immediately.
Ó sì mú wọn ní wákàtí náà lóru, ó wẹ ọgbẹ́ wọn; a sì bamitiisi rẹ̀, àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn rẹ̀ lójúkan náà.
34 Then as he brought Paul and Silas up into his house and he set food before them, he rejoiced greatly with those of his house, that he had believed in God.
Ó sì mú wọn wá sí ilé rẹ̀, ó sì gbé oúnjẹ kalẹ̀ níwájú wọn, ó sì yọ̀ gidigidi pẹ̀lú gbogbo àwọn ará ilé rẹ̀, nítorí ó gba Ọlọ́run gbọ́.
35 Now when it was day, the magistrates sent word to the guards, saying, “Let those men go.”
Ṣùgbọ́n nígbà tí ilẹ̀ mọ́, àwọn onídàájọ́ rán àwọn ọlọ́pàá pé, “Tú àwọn ènìyàn náà sílẹ̀.”
36 The jailer reported the words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent word to me to let you go. Now therefore come out, and go in peace.”
Onítúbú sì sọ ọ̀rọ̀ náà fún Paulu, wí pé, “Àwọn onídàájọ́ ránṣẹ́ pé kí á da ìwọ àti Sila sílẹ̀. Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí ẹ jáde kí ẹ sì máa lọ ní àlàáfíà.”
37 But Paul said to them, “They have publicly beaten us without a trial, even through we are Romans citizens—and they threw us into prison. Do they now want to send us away secretly? No! Let them come themselves and lead us out.”
Ṣùgbọ́n Paulu wí fún wọn pé, “Wọ́n lù wá ni gbangba, wọ́n sì sọ wá sínú túbú ni àìjẹ̀bi, àwa ẹni tí ì ṣe ara Romu. Ṣe nísinsin yìí wọ́n fẹ́ tì wá jáde níkọ̀kọ̀? Rara! Ṣùgbọ́n kí àwọn tìkára wọn wá mú wa jáde!”
38 The guards reported these words to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Romans, they were afraid.
Àwọn ọlọ́pàá sì sọ ọ̀rọ̀ wọ̀nyí fún àwọn onídàájọ́: ẹ̀rù sì bà wọ́n, nígbà tí wọ́n gbọ́ pé ará Romu ni Paulu àti Sila.
39 The magistrates came and apologized to them and brought them out, asking them them to go away from the city.
Wọ́n sì wá, wọ́n ṣìpẹ̀ lọ́dọ̀ wọ́n, wọn sì mú wọn jáde, wọ́n sì bẹ̀ wọ́n pé, ki wọn jáde kúrò ni ìlú náà.
40 So Paul and Silas went out of the prison and came to the house of Lydia. When Paul and Silas saw the brothers, they encouraged them and then departed from the city.
Paulu àti Sila sì jáde nínú túbú, wọ́n sì wọ ilé Lidia lọ, nígbà tí wọn sì tí rí àwọn arákùnrin, wọ́n tù wọ́n nínú, wọn sì jáde kúrò.
