Acts 16

1 Paul also came to Derbe and to Lystra; and behold, a certain disciple named Timothy was there, the son of a Jewish woman who believed; his father was a Greek.

೧ಅನಂತರ ಅವನು ದೆರ್ಬೆಗೂ, ಲುಸ್ತ್ರಕ್ಕೂ ಬಂದನು. ಲುಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿ ತಿಮೊಥೆಯನೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಶಿಷ್ಯನಿದ್ದನು. ಅವನು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದ್ದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯ ಮಗನು. ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ಗ್ರೀಕನು.

2 He was well spoken of by the brothers who were at Lystra and Iconium.

೨ಅವನು ಲುಸ್ತ್ರದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ, ಇಕೋನ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಇದ್ದ ಸಹೋದರರಿಂದ ಒಳ್ಳೆಯ ಸಾಕ್ಷಿಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿದ್ದವನು.

3 Paul wanted him to travel with him; so he took him and circumcised him because of the Jews that were in those places, for they all knew that his father was a Greek.

೩ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಸಂಗಡ ಬರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಪೌಲನು ಅಪೇಕ್ಷಿಸಿ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಗಳಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರ ನಿಮಿತ್ತವಾಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ ಸುನ್ನತಿ ಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು, ಏಕೆಂದರೆ ಅವನ ತಂದೆ ಗ್ರೀಕನೆಂಬುದು ಎಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ತಿಳಿದ ಸಂಗತಿಯಾಗಿತ್ತು.

4 As they went on their way through the cities, they delivered to the churches the instructions for them to obey, the instructions that had been written by the apostles and elders in Jerusalem.

೪ಬಳಿಕ ಅವರು ಊರೂರುಗಳಲ್ಲಿ ಸಂಚಾರಮಾಡುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಯೆರೂಸಲೇಮಿನಲ್ಲಿದ್ದ ಅಪೊಸ್ತಲರೂ, ಸಭೆಯ ಹಿರಿಯರೂ ನಿರ್ಣಯಿಸಿದ್ದ ವಿಧಿಗಳನ್ನು ಅವರಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿ ಅವುಗಳನ್ನು ನೀವು ಅನುಸರಿಸಿ ನಡೆಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಬೋಧಿಸಿದರು.

5 So the churches were strengthened in the faith and increased in number daily.

೫ಸಭೆಗಳು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದೃಢವಾಗುತ್ತಾ ಸಂಖ್ಯೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ದಿನೇ ದಿನೇ ಹೆಚ್ಚುತ್ತಾ ಬಂದವು.

6 Paul and his companions went through the regions of Phrygia and Galatia, since they had been forbidden by the Holy Spirit to proclaim the word in the province of Asia.

೬ಆಸ್ಯಸೀಮೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ಹೇಳಬಾರದೆಂದು ಪವಿತ್ರಾತ್ಮನು ತಡೆದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ಫ್ರುಗ್ಯ, ಗಲಾತ್ಯ ಸೀಮೆಯನ್ನು ಹಾದುಹೋಗಿ,

7 When they came near Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus prevented them.

೭ಮೂಸ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹತ್ತಿರವಾಗಿ ಬಂದಾಗ, ಬಿಥೂನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೋಗುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಮಾಡಿದರು. ಅಲ್ಲಿಯೂ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಆತ್ಮನು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೋಗಗೊಡಿಸಲಿಲ್ಲ.

8 So passing by Mysia, they came down to the city of Troas.

೮ಆಗ ಅವರು ಮೂಸ್ಯದ ಮುಖಾಂತಾರವಾಗಿ ತ್ರೋವಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದರು.

9 A vision appeared to Paul in the night: A man of Macedonia was standing there, calling him and saying, “Come over into Macedonia and help us.”

೯ಆ ರಾತ್ರಿ ಪೌಲನಿಗೆ ಒಂದು ದರ್ಶನವಾಯಿತು, ಏನೆಂದರೆ, ಮಕೆದೋನ್ಯ ದೇಶದವನಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ಮನುಷ್ಯನು ನಿಂತುಕೊಂಡು; “ನೀನು ಸಮುದ್ರವನ್ನು ದಾಟಿ ಮಕೆದೋನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಬಂದು ನಮಗೆ ನೆರವಾಗಬೇಕೆಂದು” ಅವನನ್ನು ಬೇಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದನು.

10 When Paul had seen the vision, immediately we set out to go to Macedonia, concluding that God had called us to proclaim the gospel to them.

೧೦ಅವನಿಗೆ ಆ ದರ್ಶನವಾದ ಮೇಲೆ, ಆ ಸೀಮೆಯವರಿಗೆ ಸುವಾರ್ತೆಯನ್ನು ಸಾರುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ದೇವರು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಕರೆದಿದ್ದಾನೆಂದು ನಾವು ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡು, ಕೂಡಲೆ ಮಕೆದೋನ್ಯಕ್ಕೆ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗುವ ಪ್ರಯತ್ನಮಾಡಿದೆವು.

11 Setting sail therefore from Troas, we made a straight course to Samothrace, and the next day we came to Neapolis.

೧೧ನಾವು ತ್ರೋವದಿಂದ ಸಮುದ್ರ ಪ್ರಯಾಣಮಾಡಿ ನೆಟ್ಟಗೆ ಸಮೊಥ್ರಾಕೆಗೆ ಬಂದು ಮರುದಿನ ನೆಯಾಪೊಲಿಗೆ ಸೇರಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿಂದ ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪಿಯನ್ನು ತಲುಪಿದೆವು.

12 From there we went to Philippi, which is a city of Macedonia, the most important city in the district and a Roman colony, and we stayed in this city for several days.

೧೨ಫಿಲಿಪ್ಪಿ ಎಂಬುದು ಮಕೆದೋನ್ಯದಲ್ಲಿ ಪ್ರಧಾನ ಪಟ್ಟಣ, ಇದು ರೋಮಾಪುರದವರ ಒಂದು ಪ್ರವಾಸ ಸ್ಥಾನವೂ ಆಗಿದೆ. ಈ ಪಟ್ಟಣದಲ್ಲಿ ನಾವು ಕೆಲವು ದಿನಗಳ ಕಾಲ ಇದ್ದೆವು.

13 On the Sabbath day we went outside the gate by the river, where we thought there would be a place of prayer. We sat down and spoke to the women who had come together.

೧೩ನದೀತೀರದಲ್ಲಿ ದೇವರ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಸ್ಥಳ ಇರುವುದೆಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಸಬ್ಬತ್ ದಿನದಲ್ಲಿ ಊರ ಬಾಗಿಲಿನ ಹೊರಗೆ ಹೋಗಿ ಅಲ್ಲಿ ಕೂಡಿಬಂದಿದ್ದ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯರ ಸಂಗಡ ಕುಳಿತುಕೊಂಡು ಮಾತನಾಡಿದೆವು.

14 A certain woman named Lydia, a seller of purple from the city of Thyatira, who worshiped God, listened to us. The Lord opened her heart to pay attention to what was said by Paul.

೧೪ನಮ್ಮ ಮಾತುಗಳನ್ನು ಕೇಳಿದವರಲ್ಲಿ ಲುದ್ಯಳೆಂಬ ಒಬ್ಬ ಸ್ತ್ರೀಯು ಇದ್ದಳು. ಆಕೆ ಧೂಮ್ರ (ನೇರಳೆ) ಬಣ್ಣದ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಮಾರುವವಳೂ, ಥುವತೈರ ಎಂಬ ಊರಿನವಳೂ, ದೈವಭಕ್ತಳೂ ಆಗಿದ್ದಳು. ಪೌಲನು ಹೇಳುವ ಮಾತುಗಳಿಗೆ ಗಮನಕೊಡುವುದಕ್ಕಾಗಿ ಕರ್ತನು ಆಕೆಯ ಹೃದಯವನ್ನು ತೆರೆದನು.

15 When she and her house were baptized, she urged us, saying, “If you have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come and stay in house.” And she persuaded us.

೧೫ಆಕೆಯೂ, ಆಕೆಯ ಮನೆಯವರೂ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡ ಮೇಲೆ, ಆಕೆ; “ಕರ್ತನನ್ನು ನಂಬಿದವಳೆಂದು ನೀವು ನನ್ನ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ನಿಶ್ಚಯಿಸಿಕೊಂಡಿದ್ದರೆ ನನ್ನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಬಂದು ಉಳಿದುಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದು” ಬೇಡಿಕೊಂಡು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಲವಂತ ಮಾಡಿದಳು.

16 It came about that, as we were going to the place of prayer, a certain young woman who had a spirit of divination encountered us. She brought her masters much gain by fortunetelling.

೧೬ಬಳಿಕ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆ ನಡೆಯುವ ಆ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ನಾವು ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಗಾರುಡಗಾತಿಯಾದ ಒಬ್ಬ ದಾಸಿಯು ನಮ್ಮೆದುರಿಗೆ ಬಂದಳು. ಅವಳು ಕಣಿ ಹೇಳುವುದರಿಂದ ಅವಳ ಯಜಮಾನರಿಗೆ ಬಹು ಆದಾಯವಾಗುತ್ತಿತ್ತು.

17 This woman followed after Paul and us and shouted, saying, “These men are servants of the Most High God. They proclaim to you the way of salvation.”

೧೭ಪೌಲನೂ, ನಾವೂ ಹೋಗುತ್ತಿರುವಾಗ ಅವಳು ನಮ್ಮ ಹಿಂದೆ ಬಂದು; “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ಪರಾತ್ಪರನಾದ ದೇವರ ಸೇವಕರು; ನಿಮಗೆ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಯ ಮಾರ್ಗವನ್ನು ಸಾರುತ್ತಾರೆ” ಎಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಹೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದಳು.

18 She did this for many days. But Paul, being greatly annoyed by her, turned and said to the spirit, “I command you in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.” And it came out right away.

೧೮ಅನೇಕ ದಿನ ಅವಳು ಹೀಗೆ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದುದರಿಂದ ಪೌಲನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಬೇಸರಗೊಂಡು ಹಿಂತಿರುಗಿ ಅವಳೊಳಗಿದ್ದ ದುರಾತ್ಮಕ್ಕೆ; “ಅವಳನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಹೋಗು ಎಂದು ಯೇಸು ಕ್ರಿಸ್ತನ ಹೆಸರಿನಲ್ಲಿ ನಿನಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸುತ್ತೇನೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು. ಅದೇ ಗಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿಯೇ ಅದು ಬಿಟ್ಟು ಹೋಯಿತು.

19 When her masters saw that their opportunity to make money was now gone, they seized Paul and Silas and dragged them into the marketplace before the authorities.

೧೯ಅವಳ ಯಜಮಾನರು ತಮ್ಮ ಆದಾಯದ ನಿರೀಕ್ಷೆ ತಪ್ಪಿತಲ್ಲಾ ಎಂದು ತಿಳಿದು ಪೌಲನನ್ನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸೀಲನನ್ನೂ ಹಿಡಿದು ಮಾರುಕಟ್ಟೆಯ ಸ್ಥಳಕ್ಕೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಬಳಿಗೆ ಎಳೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋದರು.

20 When they had brought them to the magistrates, they said, “These men are stirring up our city. They are Jews.

೨೦ಅವರನ್ನು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳ ಮುಂದೆ ತಂದು; “ಈ ಮನುಷ್ಯರು ನಮ್ಮ ಪಟ್ಟಣವನ್ನು ಬಹಳವಾಗಿ ಕದಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ;

21 They proclaim customs that are not lawful for Romans to accept or practice.”

೨೧ಇವರು ಯೆಹೂದ್ಯರಾಗಿದ್ದು ರೋಮನ್ನರಾದ ನಾವು ಅವಲಂಬಿಸಿ ಆಚರಿಸಬಾರದ ಆಚಾರಗಳನ್ನು ಪ್ರಚಾರ ಮಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದಾರೆ” ಅಂದರು.

22 Then the crowd rose up together against Paul and Silas; the magistrates tore their garments off them and commanded them to be beaten with rods.

೨೨ಆಗ ಜನರು ಗುಂಪಾಗಿ ಕೂಡಿ, ಅವರಿಗೆ ವಿರೋಧವಾಗಿ ಒಟ್ಟಾಗಿ ಎದ್ದರು. ಮತ್ತು ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು; ಇವರ ವಸ್ತ್ರಗಳನ್ನು ಹರಿದು, ತೆಗೆದು, ಛಡಿಗಳಿಂದ ಹೊಡೆಸಬೇಕೆಂದು ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಕೊಟ್ಟರು.

23 When they had laid many blows upon them, they threw them into prison and commanded the jailer to keep them securely.

೨೩ಅವರಿಗೆ ಬಹಳ ಹೊಡೆತಗಳನ್ನು ಹೊಡಿಸಿದ ಮೇಲೆ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಿ, ಇವರನ್ನು ಭದ್ರವಾಗಿ ಕಾಯಬೇಕೆಂದು ಸೆರೆಯ ಯಜಮಾನನಿಗೆ ಆಜ್ಞಾಪಿಸಿದರು.

24 After he got this command, the jailer threw them into the inner prison and fastened their feet in the stocks.

೨೪ಅವನು ಇಂಥಾ ಅಪ್ಪಣೆಯನ್ನು ಹೊಂದಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯ ಒಳಕೋಣೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಹಾಕಿ ಅವರ ಕಾಲುಗಳಿಗೆ ಕೋಳವನ್ನು ಹಾಕಿ ಬಿಗಿಸಿದನು.

25 Around midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God, and the other prisoners were listening to them.

೨೫ಮಧ್ಯರಾತ್ರಿಯಲ್ಲಿ ಪೌಲನೂ ಮತ್ತು ಸೀಲನೂ ಪ್ರಾರ್ಥನೆಮಾಡುತ್ತಾ ದೇವರಿಗೆ ಸ್ತುತಿಗೀತೆಗಳನ್ನು ಹಾಡುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು; ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು ಲಕ್ಷ್ಯವಿಟ್ಟು ಕೇಳುತ್ತಿದ್ದರು.

26 Suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken; and immediately all the doors were opened, and everyone's chains were unfastened.

೨೬ಆಕಸ್ಮಾತ್ತಾಗಿ ಮಹಾಭೂಕಂಪವುಂಟಾಯಿತು; ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯ ಅಸ್ತಿವಾರಗಳು ಕದಲಿದವು. ಅದೇ ಕ್ಷಣದಲ್ಲಿ ಕದಗಳೆಲ್ಲಾ ತೆರೆದವು, ಎಲ್ಲರ ಬೇಡಿಗಳು ಕಳಚಿಬಿದ್ದವು.

27 The jailer was awakened from sleep and saw the open prison doors; he drew his sword and was about to kill himself, because he thought that the prisoners had escaped.

೨೭ಸೆರೆಯ ಯಜಮಾನನು ನಿದ್ದೆಯಿಂದ ಎಚ್ಚೆತ್ತು ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯ ಕದಗಳು ತೆರೆದಿರುವುದನ್ನು ಕಂಡು ಸೆರೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರು ಓಡಿಹೋದರೆಂದು ಭಾವಿಸಿ ಕತ್ತಿಯನ್ನು ಹಿರಿದು ಆತ್ಮಹತ್ಯೆ ಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಕೆಂದಿದ್ದನು.

28 But Paul shouted with a loud voice, saying, “Do not harm yourself, because we are all here.”

೨೮ಆದರೆ ಪೌಲನು ಮಹಾ ಶಬ್ದದಿಂದ ಕೂಗಿ ಅವನಿಗೆ; “ನೀನೇನೂ ಕೇಡುಮಾಡಿಕೊಳ್ಳಬೇಡ, ನಾವೆಲ್ಲರೂ ಇಲ್ಲೇ ಇದ್ದೇವೆ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

29 The jailer called for lights and rushed in and, trembling for fear, fell down before Paul and Silas,

೨೯ಆಗ ಅವನು; ದೀಪ ತರಬೇಕೆಂದು ಕೂಗಿ ಒಳಕ್ಕೆ ಹಾರಿ ಭಯದಿಂದ ನಡುಗುತ್ತಾ ಪೌಲ ಮತ್ತು ಸೀಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ಆಡ್ಡಬಿದ್ದನು.

30 and brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?”

೩೦ಮತ್ತು ಅವರನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಬಂದು; “ಸ್ವಾಮಿಗಳೇ, ನಾನು ರಕ್ಷಣೆಹೊಂದುವುದಕ್ಕೆ ಏನು ಮಾಡಬೇಕೆಂದು?” ಕೇಳಲು,

31 They said, “Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved, you and your house.”

೩೧ಅವರು; “ಕರ್ತನಾದ ಯೇಸುವಿನ ಮೇಲೆ ನಂಬಿಕೆಯಿಡು, ಆಗ ನೀನು ರಕ್ಷಣೆ ಹೊಂದುವಿ, ನಿನ್ನ ಮನೆಯವರೂ ರಕ್ಷಣೆಹೊಂದುವರು” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿ,

32 They spoke the word of the Lord to him, together with everyone in his house.

೩೨ಅವನಿಗೂ, ಅವನ ಮನೆಯಲ್ಲಿದ್ದವರೆಲ್ಲರಿಗೂ ದೇವರ ವಾಕ್ಯವನ್ನು ತಿಳಿಸಿದರು.

33 Then the jailer took them at the same hour of the night, and washed their wounds, and he and those in his entire house were baptized immediately.

೩೩ಆ ಮೇಲೆ ಅವನು ರಾತ್ರಿಯ ಅದೇ ಗಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಅವರ ಗಾಯಗಳನ್ನು ತೊಳೆದು ಕೂಡಲೆ ತಾನೂ ತನ್ನವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಸಹಿತವಾಗಿ ದೀಕ್ಷಾಸ್ನಾನ ಮಾಡಿಸಿಕೊಂಡನು.

34 Then as he brought Paul and Silas up into his house and he set food before them, he rejoiced greatly with those of his house, that he had believed in God.

೩೪ತರುವಾಯ ಅವರನ್ನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಗೆ ಕರೆದುಕೊಂಡು ಹೋಗಿ ಊಟಮಾಡಿಸಿದನು. ಅವನು ತನ್ನ ಮನೆಯವರೆಲ್ಲರ ಸಂಗಡ ದೇವರನ್ನು ನಂಬಿ ಸಂತೋಷಪಟ್ಟರು.

35 Now when it was day, the magistrates sent word to the guards, saying, “Let those men go.”

೩೫ಬೆಳಗಾದ ಮೇಲೆ ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು; “ಆ ಮನುಷ್ಯರನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡು” ಎಂದು ಸಿಪಾಯಿಗಳ ಮೂಲಕ ಹೇಳಿ ಕಳುಹಿಸಿದರು.

36 The jailer reported the words to Paul, saying, “The magistrates have sent word to me to let you go. Now therefore come out, and go in peace.”

೩೬ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯ ಯಜಮಾನನು ಈ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಪೌಲನಿಗೆ ತಿಳಿಸಿ; “ಅಧಿಕಾರಿಗಳು ನಿಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಬಿಟ್ಟುಬಿಡಬೇಕೆಂದು ಹೇಳಿಕಳುಹಿಸಿದ್ದಾರೆ, ಆದುದರಿಂದ ಈಗ ನೀವು ಸಮಾಧಾನದಿಂದ ಹೊರಟುಹೋಗಿರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

37 But Paul said to them, “They have publicly beaten us without a trial, even through we are Romans citizens—and they threw us into prison. Do they now want to send us away secretly? No! Let them come themselves and lead us out.”

೩೭ಅದಕ್ಕೆ ಪೌಲನು; “ಅವರು ವಿಚಾರಣೆಮಾಡದೆ ರೋಮಾಪುರದ ಹಕ್ಕುದಾರರಾದ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಎಲ್ಲರ ಮುಂದೆ ಹೊಡಿಸಿ ಸೆರೆಮನೆಯೊಳಗೆ ಹಾಕಿಸಿದರು; ಈಗ ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಗುಪ್ತವಾಗಿ ಹೊರಗೆ ಕಳುಹಿಸುತ್ತಾರೋ? ಹಾಗೆ ಎಂದಿಗೂ ಆಗಕೂಡದು; ಅವರೇ ಬಂದು ನಮ್ಮನ್ನು ಹೊರಗೆ ಕರದುಕೊಂಡುಹೋದರೆ ಸರಿ” ಎಂದು ಹೇಳಿದನು.

38 The guards reported these words to the magistrates, and when they heard that Paul and Silas were Romans, they were afraid.
