2 Samuel 8

1 After this it came about that David attacked the Philistines and defeated them. So David took Metheg Ammah from the control of the Philistines.

Danach schlug David die Philister und demütigte sie. David nahm auch die Talsperre den Philistern aus der Hand.

2 Then he defeated Moab and measured their men with a line by making them lie down on the ground. He measured off two lines to put to death, and one full line to keep alive. So the Moabites became servants to David and began to pay him tribute.

Dann schlug er Moab und vermaß es mit der Meßschnur, nachdem er sie zu Boden geworfen hatte. Je zwei Schnüre maß er zur Verwüstung ab und je eine Schnur zur Aufpflanzung. So ward Moab David untertan und steuerpflichtig.

3 David then defeated Hadadezer son of Rehob, the king of Zobah, as Hadadezer was traveling to recover his rule by the Euphrates River.

Dann schlug David den König von Soba, Hadadezer, Rechobs Sohn, als er auszog, seine Hand nach dem Strom zu strecken.

4 David captured from him 1,700 chariots and twenty thousand footmen. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for a hundred chariots.

David nahm ihm 1.700 Wagenkämpfer und 20.000 Mann Fußvolk ab. Alle Rosse lähmte David. Nur 100 Pferdewagen ließ er davon übrig.

5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand Aramean men.

Da kamen die damaszenischen Aramäer dem König von Soba, Hadadezer, zu Hilfe. Aber David schlug von den Aramäern 22.000 Mann.

6 Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to him and brought him tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

Dann setzte David im damaszenischen Aram Vögte ein. So wurden die Aramäer David untertan und steuerpflichtig. Der Herr half David überall, wohin er zog.

7 David took the golden shields that were on Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem.

David nahm nun die goldenen Schilde der Knechte Hadadezers und brachte sie nach Jerusalem.

8 From Tebah and Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, King David took very much bronze.

Aus Tebach und aus Berotai, den Städten des Hadadezers, nahm König David sehr viel Erz.

9 When Tou, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer,

Da hörte Toi, der König von Chamat, David habe die ganze Streitmacht Hadadezers geschlagen.

10 Tou sent Hadoram his son to King David to greet him and to bless him, because David had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, and because Hadadezer had waged war against Tou. Hadoram brought with himself objects of silver, gold, and bronze.

So sandte nun Toi seinen Sohn Hadoram zum König David, ihn zu begrüßen und zu beglückwünschen wegen seines siegreichen Kampfes mit Hadadezer. Denn Hadadezer war Tois Kriegsgegner. Er brachte silberne, goldene und eherne Gefäße.

11 King David set aside these objects to Yahweh, together with the silver and gold from all the nations that he conquered—

Auch sie weihte König David dem Herrn, samt dem Silber und Gold, das er von all den Völkern geweiht, die er unterjocht hatte,

12 from Aram, Moab, the people of Ammon, the Philistines, and Amalek, along with all of the plundered goods of Hadadezer son of Rehob, the king of Zobah.

von den Edomitern, Moabitern, Ammonitern, Philistern und Amalekitern und von der Beute des Hadadezer, des Königs von Soba und Sohnes des Rechob.

13 David's name was well known when he returned from conquering the Arameans in the Valley of Salt, with their eighteen thousand men.

So machte sich David einen Namen nach seiner Rückkehr vom Siege aber die 18.000 Mann Aramäer im Salztale.

14 He placed garrisons throughout all of Edom, and all the Edomites became servants to him. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.

In Edom bestellte er Vögte, hatte er doch mit ganz Edom ein Abkommen getroffen. So ward ganz Edom David untertan. Der Herr half nämlich David überall, wohin er zog.

15 David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness to all his people.

So regierte David über ganz Israel. Und David übte Recht und Gerechtigkeit an seinem ganzen Volke.

16 Joab son of Zeruiah was the commander of the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder.

Über das Heer war Serujas Sohn Joab gesetzt, und Achiluds Sohn Josaphat war Kanzler.

17 Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Seraiah was scribe.

Achitubs Sohn Sadok und Achimelek, Ebjatars Sohn, waren Priester, Seraja Schreiber.

18 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was in charge of the Kerethites and Pelethites, and David's sons were the chief officials at the king's hand.

Benaja, Jojadas Sohn, war Anführer der Bogenschützen und der Schildträger. Davids Söhne aber waren Landleute.
