2 Samuel 4
1 When Ishbosheth, Saul's son, heard that Abner was dead in Hebron, his hands became weak, and all Israel was troubled.

2 Now Saul's son had two men who were captains of groups of soldiers. The name of one was Baanah and the other Recab, sons of Rimmon the Beerothite of the people of Benjamin (for Beeroth is also considered part of Benjamin,

3 and the Beerothites fled to Gittaim and have been living there until this very time).

4 Now Jonathan, Saul's son, had a son who was crippled in his feet. He was five years old when the news about Saul and Jonathan came from Jezreel. His nurse picked him up to flee. But as she was running, Jonathan's son fell and became lame. His name was Mephibosheth.
Jonathas, fils de Saül, avait un fils perclus des deux pieds. Cet enfant était âgé de cinq ans lorsque la nouvelle de la mort de Saül et de Jonathas arriva de Jezraël; sa nourrice l’avait pris et s’était enfuie, et, dans la précipitation de sa fuite, il était tombé et devenu boiteux; il s’appelait Miphiboseth.
5 So the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite, Recab and Baanah, traveled during the heat of the day to the house of Ishbosheth, as he was resting at noon.
Or les fils de Remmon de Béroth, Réchab et Baana, vinrent et entrèrent pendant la chaleur du jour dans la maison d’Isboseth, qui était couché pour le repos de midi.
6 The woman guarding the door had fallen asleep while sifting wheat, and Recab and Baanah walked in quietly and passed her.
Ayant pénétré jusqu’au milieu de la maison pour prendre du blé, ils le frappèrent au ventre. Et Réchab, et Baana, son frère, se glissèrent à la dérobée.
7 So after they entered the house, they attacked him and killed him as he was lying on his bed in his room. Then they cut off his head and carried it away, traveling on the road all night to the Arabah.
Quand ils entrèrent dans la maison, Isboseth reposait sur son lit, dans sa chambre à coucher; ils le frappèrent à mort et, lui ayant coupé la tête, ils la prirent, et marchèrent toute la nuit au travers de la Plaine.
8 They brought the head of Ishbosheth to David at Hebron, and they said to the king, “Look, this is the head of Ishbosheth son of Saul, your enemy, who sought your life. Today Yahweh has avenged our master the king against Saul and his descendants.”
Ils apportèrent la tête d’Isboseth à David, à Hébron, et ils dirent au roi: « Voici la tête d’Isboseth, fils de Saül, ton ennemi, qui en voulait à ta vie. Yahweh a accordé aujourd’hui au roi, mon seigneur, la vengeance sur Saül et sur sa race. »
9 David answered Recab and Baanah his brother, the sons of Rimmon the Beerothite; he said to them, “As Yahweh lives, who delivered my life from every trouble,
David répondit à Réchab et à Baana, son frère, fils de Remmon de Béroth, et leur dit: « Yahweh, qui m’a délivré de tout péril, est vivant!
10 when someone told me, 'Look, Saul is dead,' thinking he was bringing good news, I seized him and killed him at Ziklag. That was the reward I gave him for his news.
Celui qui est venu me dire cette nouvelle: Voici que Saül est mort, celui-là était à ses propres yeux porteur d’une bonne nouvelle; mais je l’ai fait saisir et mettre à mort à Siceleg, pour lui donner le salaire de son bon message;
11 How much more, when wicked men have killed an innocent person in his own house on his bed, should I not now require his blood from your hand, and remove you from the earth?”
combien plus, quand de méchants hommes ont assassiné un homme innocent dans sa maison, sur sa couche, dois-je redemander son sang de vos mains et vous exterminer de la terre? »
12 Then David gave orders to the young men, and they killed them and cut off their hands and feet and hung them up beside the pool at Hebron. But they took the head of Ishbosheth and buried it in the grave of Abner in Hebron.
Et David ordonna aux jeunes gens de les tuer; ils leurs coupèrent les mains et les pieds et les pendirent au bord de l’étang d’Hébron. Puis, ayant pris la tête d’Isboseth, ils l’enterrèrent dans le tombeau d’Abner à Hébron.
