2 Samuel 24
1 Again the anger of Yahweh was ignited against Israel, and he moved David against them saying, “Go, count Israel and Judah.”
Y volvió el furor de Jehová a enojarse contra Israel, e incitó a David contra ellos a que dijese: Vé, cuenta a Israel, y a Judá.
2 The king said to Joab the commander of the army, who was with him, “Go throughout all the tribes of Israel, from Dan to Beersheba, and count all the people, so that I may know the total number of men fit for battle.”
Y dijo el rey a Joab general del ejército que tenía consigo: Rodea todas las tribus de Israel, desde Dan hasta Beer-seba, y contád el pueblo, para que yo sepa el número del pueblo.
3 Joab said to the king, “May Yahweh your God multiply the number of people a hundred times, and may the eyes of my master the king see it take place. But why does my master the king want this?”
Y Joab respondió al rey: Añada Jehová tu Dios al pueblo cien veces tantos como son, y que lo vea mi señor el rey; mas ¿para qué quiere esto mi señor el rey?
4 Nevertheless, the king's word was final against Joab and against the commanders of the army. So Joab and the commanders went out from the king's presence to count the people of Israel.
Empero la palabra del rey pudo más que Joab, y que los capitanes del ejército: y salió Joab, de delante del rey con los capitanes del ejército, para ir a contar el pueblo de Israel.
5 They crossed over the Jordan and encamped near Aroer, south of the city in the valley. Then they traveled on through Gad to Jazer.
Y pasando el Jordán asentaron en Aroer, a la mano derecha de la ciudad que está en medio del arroyo de Gad, y junto a Jazer.
6 They came to Gilead and to the land of Tahtim Hodshi, then on to Dan Jaan and around toward Sidon.
Y después vinieron a Galaad, y a la tierra baja de Hodsi; y de allí vinieron a Danjaán, y al rededor de Sidón.
7 They reached the stronghold of Tyre and all the cities of the Hivites and the Canaanites. Then they went out to the Negev in Judah at Beersheba.
Y vinieron a la fortaleza de Tiro, y a todas las ciudades de los Heveos, y de los Cananeos, y salieron al mediodía de Judá a Beer-seba.
8 When they had gone throughout all the land, they came back to Jerusalem at the end of nine months and twenty days.
Y después que hubieron andado toda la tierra, volvieron a Jerusalem después de nueve meses y veinte días.
9 Then Joab reported the total of the count of the fighting men to the king. There were in Israel 800,000 brave men who drew the sword, and the men of Judah were 500,000 men.
Y Joab dio la cuenta del número del pueblo al rey: y fueron los de Israel ochocientos mil hombres fuertes, que sacaban espada: y de los de Judá fueron quinientos mil hombres.
10 Then David's heart afflicted him after he had counted the men. So he said to Yahweh, “I have greatly sinned by doing this. Now, Yahweh, take away your servant's guilt, for I have acted very foolishly.”
Y después que David hubo contado el pueblo, hirióle su corazón, y dijo David a Jehová: Yo he pecado gravemente por haber hecho esto; mas ahora Jehová, ruégote que traspases el pecado de tu siervo; porque yo he obrado muy neciamente.
11 When David rose up in the morning, the word of Yahweh came to the prophet Gad, David's seer, saying,
Y por la mañana cuando David se levantaba, fue palabra de Jehová a Gad profeta, vidente de David, diciendo:
12 “Go say to David: 'This is what Yahweh says: “I am giving you three choices. Choose one of them.”'”
Vé, y habla a David: Así dijo Jehová: Tres cosas te ofrezco: tú te escogerás de estas la una, la cual yo haga.
13 So Gad went to David and said to him, “Will three years of famine come to you in your land? Or will you flee three months from your enemies while they pursue you? Or will there be three days of plague in your land? Now decide what answer I should return to him who sent me.”
Y Gad vino a David, y denuncióle, y díjole: ¿Quiéres que te vengan siete años de hambre en tu tierra? ¿O que huyas tres meses delante de tus enemigos, y que ellos te persigan? ¿O que tres días haya pestilencia en tu tierra? Piensa ahora, y mira que responderé al que me envió.
14 Then David said to Gad, “I am in deep trouble. Let us fall into Yahweh's hands rather than into the hand of man, for his merciful actions are very great.”
Entonces David dijo a Gad: En grande angustia estoy. Yo ruego que yo caiga en la mano de Jehová, porque sus miseraciones son muchas, y que yo no caiga en manos de hombres.
15 So Yahweh sent a plague on Israel from the morning to a fixed time, and seventy thousand people died from Dan to Beersheba.
Y Jehová envió pestilencia en Israel desde la mañana hasta el tiempo señalado: y murieron del pueblo, desde Dan hasta Beer-seba, setenta mil hombres.
16 When the angel reached out with his hand toward Jerusalem to destroy it, Yahweh changed his mind because of the harm it would cause, and he said to the angel who was destroying people, “Enough! Now draw back your hand.” At that time the angel of Yahweh was standing at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.
Y como el ángel extendió su mano sobre Jerusalem para destruirla, Jehová se arrepintió de aquel mal, y dijo al ángel que destruía el pueblo. Basta ahora: detén tu mano. Entonces el ángel de Jehová estaba junto a la era de Areuna Jebuseo.
17 Then David spoke to Yahweh when he saw the angel who had attacked the people, and said, “I have sinned, and I have acted perversely. But these sheep, what have they done? Please let your hand punish me and my father's family!”
Y David dijo a Jehová, cuando vio al ángel que hería al pueblo: Yo pequé, yo hice la maldad: ¿Estas ovejas qué hicieron? Ruégote que tu mano se torne contra mí, y contra la casa de mi padre.
18 Then Gad came that day to David and said to him, “Go up and build an altar for Yahweh at the threshing floor of Araunah the Jebusite.”
Y Gad vino a David aquel día, y díjole: Sube, y haz un altar a Jehová en la era de Areuna Jebuseo.
19 So David went up as Gad instructed him to do, as Yahweh had commanded.
Y David subió conforme al dicho de Gad, que Jehová había mandado.
20 Araunah looked out and saw the king and his servants approaching. So Araunah went out and bowed to the king with his face to the ground.
Y mirando Areuna, vio al rey y a sus siervos que pasaban a él: y saliendo Areuna inclinóse delante del rey hacia tierra.
21 Then Araunah said, “Why has my master the king come to me, his servant?” David replied, “To buy your threshing floor, so I can build an altar for Yahweh, so that the plague may be removed from the people.”
Y dijo Areuna: ¿Por qué viene mi señor el rey a su siervo? Y David respondió: Para comprar de ti esta era para edificar en ella altar a Jehová, y que la mortandad cese del pueblo.
22 Araunah said to David, “Take it as your own, my master the king. Do with it what is good in your sight. Look, here are oxen for the burnt offering and threshing sledges and ox yokes for the wood.
Y Areuna dijo a David: Tome y sacrifique mi señor el rey lo que bien le pareciere. He aquí bueyes para el holocausto, y trillos, y otros aderezos de bueyes para leña.
23 All this, my king, I, Araunah, will give to you.” Then he said to the king, “May Yahweh your God accept you.”
Todo lo da, como un rey, Areuna al rey: Y dijo Areuna al rey: Jehová tu Dios te sea propicio.
24 The king said to Araunah, “No, I insist on buying it at a price. I will not offer as a burnt offering to Yahweh anything that costs me nothing.” So David bought the threshing floor and the oxen for fifty shekels of silver.
Y el rey dijo a Areuna: No, sino por precio te lo compraré: porque no ofreceré a Jehová mi Dios holocaustos por nada. Entonces David compró la era y los bueyes por cincuenta siclos de plata.
25 David built an altar for Yahweh there and offered on it burnt offerings and fellowship offerings. So Yahweh answered the prayer on behalf of the land, and the plague on Israel was confined.
Y edificó allí David un altar a Jehová, y sacrificó holocaustos, y pacíficos, y Jehová se aplacó con la tierra, y cesó la plaga de Israel.
