2 Samuel 16
1 When David had gone a short distance over the summit of the hill, Ziba the servant of Mephibosheth met him with a couple of saddled donkeys; on them were two hundred loaves of bread, one hundred clusters of raisins, and one hundred bunches of figs, and a skin of wine.
David aber hatte die Höhe des Ölberges kaum etwas überschritten, als ihm Ziba, der Diener Mephiboseths, mit einem Paar gesattelter Esel entgegenkam, welche zweihundert Brote, hundert Rosinentrauben, hundert Feigenkuchen und einen Schlauch Wein trugen.
2 The king said to Ziba, “Why did you bring these things?” Ziba replied, “The donkeys are for the king's household to ride on, the bread and fig cakes are for your men to eat, and the wine is for anyone who is faint in the wilderness to drink.”
Als der König nun Ziba fragte: »Was willst du damit?«, antwortete Ziba: »Die Esel sind für die königliche Familie zum Reiten bestimmt, die Brote aber und das getrocknete Obst für die Dienerschaft zum Essen und der Wein zum Trinken für die in der Wüste Ermatteten.«
3 The king said, “Then where is your master's grandson?” Ziba replied to the king, “Look, he has stayed behind in Jerusalem, for he said, 'Today the house of Israel will restore my father's kingdom to me.'”
Als der König dann weiter fragte: »Wo ist denn der Sohn deines (früheren) Herrn?«, erwiderte Ziba dem König: »Ja, der ist in Jerusalem geblieben; denn er denkt, jetzt werde ihm das Haus Israel das Königtum seines Großvaters (Saul) zurückgeben.«
4 Then the king said to Ziba, “Look, all that belonged to Mephibosheth now belongs to you.” Ziba answered, “I bow in humility to you, my master, king. Let me find favor in your eyes.”
Da sagte der König zu Ziba: »So soll denn der gesamte Besitz Mephiboseths dir gehören!« Ziba antwortete: »Ich werfe mich huldigend nieder! Mögest du mir auch ferner gnädig gesinnt sein, mein Herr und König!«
5 When King David approached Bahurim, there came out from there a man from the clan of Saul, whose name was Shimei son of Gera. He came out cursing as he walked.
Als hierauf der König David bis Bahurim gekommen war, trat dort auf einmal ein Mann vom Geschlecht des Hauses Saul namens Simei, der Sohn Geras, (aus dem Orte) heraus. Unter unaufhörlichen Verwünschungen kam er heraus
6 He threw stones at David and at all of the king's officials, in spite of the army and bodyguards who were on the king's right and left.
und warf mit Steinen nach David und allen Leuten des Königs David, obgleich das ganze Volk und die gesamte Leibwache zur Rechten und zur Linken des Königs gingen.
7 Shimei called out in cursing, “Go away, get out of here, you villain, you man of blood!
Simei stieß aber schreiend folgende Flüche aus: »Hinweg, hinweg mit dir, du Blutmensch, Bösewicht!
8 Yahweh has repaid all of you for the blood you shed within the family of Saul, in whose place you have reigned. Yahweh has given the kingdom into the hand of Absalom your son. You have come to ruin because you are a man of blood.”
Endlich läßt der HERR alle deine Blutschuld am Hause Sauls, an dessen Stelle du dich zum König gemacht hast, auf dich zurückfallen, und der HERR hat das Königtum deinem Sohne Absalom übergeben! Und siehe, nun bist du ins Unglück geraten, weil du ein Blutmensch bist!«
9 Then Abishai son of Zeruiah, said to the king, “Why should this dead dog curse my master the king? Please let me go over and take off his head.”
Da sagte Abisai, der Sohn der Zeruja, zum König: »Warum soll dieser tote Hund meinem Herrn, dem König, fluchen dürfen? Laß mich doch hingehen und ihm den Kopf abhauen!«
10 But the king said, “What have I to do with you, sons of Zeruiah? Perhaps he is cursing me because Yahweh has said to him, 'Curse David.' Who then could say to him, 'Why are you cursing the king?'”
Aber der König erwiderte: »Ihr Söhne der Zeruja, was habe ich mit euch zu schaffen? Laßt ihn doch fluchen! Denn wenn der HERR es ihm eingegeben hat, dem David zu fluchen, wer darf dann fragen: ›Warum tust du so?‹«
11 So David said to Abishai and to all his servants, “Look, my son, who was born from my body, wants to take my life. How much more may this Benjamite now desire my ruin? Leave him alone and let him curse, for Yahweh has commanded him to do it.
Weiter sagte David zu Abisai und allen seinen Hofleuten: »Wenn mein eigener leiblicher Sohn mir nach dem Leben trachtet: wieviel mehr jetzt dieser Benjaminit! Laßt ihn fluchen, denn der HERR hat es ihm eingegeben!
12 Perhaps Yahweh will look at the misery unleashed on me, and repay me with good for his cursing me today.”
Vielleicht sieht der HERR mein Elend an und vergilt mir Gutes dafür, daß mir heute hier geflucht wird.«
13 So David and his men traveled on the road, while Shimei went beside him up on the hillside, cursing and throwing dust and stones at him as he went.
So zog denn David mit seinen Leuten seines Weges weiter, während Simei am Abhang des Berges neben ihm herging, indem er unaufhörlich Flüche ausstieß, mit Steinen nach ihm warf und Staub aufwirbelte.
14 Then the king and all the people who were with him became weary, and he rested when they stopped for the night.
Endlich kam der König mit allem Volk, das ihn begleitete, ermattet (am Jordan) an; dort konnte er sich erholen.
15 As for Absalom and all the men of Israel who were with him, they came to Jerusalem, and Ahithophel was with him.
Absalom aber war unterdessen mit seinem ganzen Anhang der Israeliten nach Jerusalem gekommen; auch Ahithophel war bei ihm.
16 It came about when Hushai the Arkite, David's friend, had come to Absalom, that Hushai said to Absalom, “Long live the king! Long live the king!”
Als nun der Arkiter Husai, Davids vertrauter Freund, zu Absalom kam, rief Husai dem Absalom zu: »Es lebe der König! Es lebe der König!«
17 Absalom said to Hushai, “Is this your loyalty to your friend? Why did you not go with him?”
Absalom entgegnete ihm: »Ist das deine Treue gegen deinen Freund? Warum bist du nicht mit deinem Freunde gezogen?«
18 Hushai said to Absalom, “No! Instead, the one whom Yahweh and this people and all the men of Israel have chosen, that is the man to whom I will belong, and I will stay with him.
Da antwortete Husai dem Absalom: »Nein! Sondern wen der HERR und das Volk hier und alle Männer von Israel erwählt haben, dem gehöre ich an, und bei dem will ich bleiben!
19 Also, what man should I serve? Should I not serve in the presence of his son? As I have served in your father's presence, I will serve in your presence.”
Und zweitens: Wem leiste ich denn Dienste? Doch wohl seinem Sohne? Wie ich deinem Vater gedient habe, so will ich auch dir zur Verfügung stehen!«
20 Then Absalom said to Ahithophel, “Give us your advice about what we should do.”
Darauf sagte Absalom zu Ahithophel: »Erteilt mir euren Rat, was wir tun sollen!«
21 Ahithophel answered Absalom, “Go sleep with your father's slave wives whom he has left to keep the palace, and all Israel will hear that you have become a stench to your father. Then the hands of all who are with you will be strong.”
Ahithophel antwortete ihm: »Gehe ein zu den Kebsweibern deines Vaters, die er hier zur Hut des Hauses zurückgelassen hat. Wenn dann ganz Israel erfährt, daß du unwiderruflich mit deinem Vater gebrochen hast, so werden alle, die es mit dir halten, dadurch ermutigt werden.«
22 So they spread for Absalom a tent on the top of the palace, and Absalom slept with his father's slave wives in the sight of all Israel.
Da schlug man für Absalom ein Zelt auf dem Dache (des Palastes) auf, und Absalom ging zu den Kebsweibern seines Vaters vor den Augen von ganz Israel.
23 Now the advice of Ahithophel that he gave in those days was as if a man heard from the mouth of God himself. That was how all of Ahithophel's advice was viewed by both David and Absalom.
Zu jener Zeit aber galt ein Rat, den Ahithophel gab, so viel wie eine Offenbarung Gottes: so hoch galten alle Ratschläge Ahithophels sowohl bei David als auch bei Absalom.
