2 Kings 6
1 The sons of the prophets said to Elisha, “The place where we live with you is too small for us all.
Die Kinder der Propheten sprachen zu Elisa: Siehe, der Raum, da wir vor dir wohnen, ist uns zu enge.
2 Please let us go to the Jordan, and let every man cut down a tree there, and let us build us a place there where we may live.” Elisha answered, “You may go ahead.”
Laß uns an den Jordan gehen und einen jeglichen daselbst Holz holen, daß wir uns daselbst eine Stätte bauen, da wir wohnen. Er sprach: Gehet hin!
3 One of them said, “Please go with your servants.” Elisha answered, “I will go.”
Und einer sprach: Lieber, gehe mit deinen Knechten! Er sprach: Ich will mitgehen.
4 So he went with them, and when they came to the Jordan, they began to cut down trees.
Und er ging mit ihnen. Und da sie an den Jordan kamen, hieben sie Holz ab.
5 But as one was chopping, the ax head fell into the water; he cried out and said, “Oh no, my master, it was borrowed!”
Und da einer ein Holz fällete, fiel das Eisen ins Wasser. Und er schrie und sprach: Awe, mein HERR! Dazu ist's entlehnet.
6 So the man of God said, “Where did it fall?” The man showed Elisha the place. He then cut off a stick, threw it in the water, and made the iron float.
Aber der Mann Gottes sprach: Wo ist's entfallen? Und da er ihm den Ort zeigte, schnitt er ein Holz ab und stieß daselbst hin. Da schwamm das Eisen.
7 Elisha said, “Pick it up.” So the man reached out his hand and grabbed it.
Und er sprach: Hebe es auf! Da reckte er seine Hand aus und nahm's.
8 Now the king of Aram was waging war against Israel. He consulted with his servants, saying, “My camp will be in such and such a place.”
Und der König aus Syrien führete einen Krieg wider Israel und beratschlagte sich mit seinen Knechten und sprach: Wir wollen uns lagern da und da.
9 So the man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, “Be careful not to pass that place, for the Arameans are going down there.”
Aber der Mann Gottes sandte zum Könige Israels und ließ ihm sagen: Hüte dich, daß du nicht an den Ort ziehest; denn die Syrer ruhen daselbst.
10 The king of Israel sent a message to the place about which the man of God had spoken and warned him. More than once or twice, when the king went there, he was on his guard.
So sandte denn der König Israels hin an den Ort, den ihm der Mann Gottes sagte, verwahrete ihn und hütete daselbst; und tat das nicht einmal oder zweimal allein.
11 The king of Aram was enraged about these warnings, and he called his servants and said to them, “Will you not tell me who among us is for the king of Israel?”
Da ward das Herz des Königs zu Syrien Unmuts darüber und rief seinen Knechten und sprach zu ihnen: Wollt ihr mir denn nicht ansagen, wer ist aus den Unsern zu dem Könige Israels geflohen?
12 So one of his servants said, “No, my master, king, for Elisha the prophet in Israel tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your own bedroom!”
Da sprach seiner Knechte einer: Nicht also, mein HERR König; sondern Elisa, der Prophet in Israel, sagt es alles dem Könige Israels, was du in der Kammer redest, da dein Lager ist.
13 The king replied, “Go and see where Elisha is so I may send men and capture him.” It was told him, “See, he is in Dothan.”
Er sprach: So gehet hin und sehet, wo er ist, daß ich hinsende und lasse ihn holen. Und sie zeigten ihm an und sprachen: Siehe, er ist zu Dothan.
14 So the king sent to Dothan horses, chariots, and a large army. They came by night and surrounded the city.
Da sandte er hin Rosse und Wagen und eine große Macht. Und da sie bei der Nacht hinkamen, umgaben sie die Stadt.
15 When the servant of the man of God had risen early and gone outside, behold, a large army with horses and chariots surrounded the city. His servant said to him, “Oh, my master! What will we do?”
Und der Diener des Mannes Gottes stund frühe auf, daß er sich aufmachte und auszöge; und siehe, da lag eine Macht um die Stadt mit Rossen und Wagen. Da sprach sein Knabe zu ihm: Awe, mein HERR! Wie wollen wir nun tun?
16 Elisha answered, “Do not fear, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them.”
Er sprach: Fürchte dich nicht; denn derer ist mehr, die bei uns sind, denn derer, die bei ihnen sind.
17 Elisha prayed and said, “Yahweh, I beg that you will open his eyes that he may see.” Then Yahweh opened the servant's eyes, and he saw. Behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire around Elisha!
Und Elisa betete und sprach: HERR, öffne ihm die Augen, daß er sehe! Da öffnete der HERR dem Knaben seine Augen, daß er sah; und siehe, da war der Berg voll feuriger Rosse und Wagen um Elisa her.
18 When the Arameans came down to him, Elisha prayed to Yahweh and said, “Strike these people blind, I ask you.” So Yahweh made them blind, just as Elisha had asked.
Und da sie zu ihm hinabkamen, bat Elisa und sprach: HERR, schlage dies Volk mit Blindheit! Und er schlug sie mit Blindheit nach dem Wort Elisas.
19 Then Elisha told the Arameans, “This is not the way, neither is this the city. Follow me, and I will bring you to the man whom you are looking for.” Then he led them to Samaria.
Und Elisa sprach zu ihnen: Dies ist nicht der Weg noch die Stadt. Folget mir nach; ich will euch führen zu dem Mann, den ihr suchet. Und führete sie gen Samaria.
20 It came about that when they had come into Samaria, Elisha said, “Yahweh, open the eyes of these men that they may see.” Yahweh opened their eyes and they saw, and behold, they were in the middle of the city of Samaria.
Und da sie gen Samaria kamen, sprach Elisa: HERR, öffne diesen die Augen, daß sie sehen! Und der HERR öffnete ihnen die Augen, daß sie sahen; und siehe, da waren sie mitten in Samaria.
21 The king of Israel said to Elisha, when he saw them, “My father, should I kill them? Should I kill them?”
Und der König Israels, da er sie sah, sprach er zu Elisa: Mein Vater, soll ich sie schlagen?
22 Elisha answered, “You must not kill them. Would you kill those whom you had taken captive with your sword and bow? Put bread and water before them, that they may eat and drink, and go to their master.”
Er sprach: Du sollst sie nicht schlagen. Welche du mit deinem Schwert und Bogen fähest, die schlage. Setze ihnen Brot und Wasser vor, daß sie essen und trinken; und laß sie zu ihrem HERRN ziehen.
23 So the king prepared much food for them, and when they had eaten and drunk, he sent them away, and they went back to their master. Those bands of Aramean soldiers did not return for a long time into the land of Israel.
Da ward ein groß Mahl zugerichtet. Und da sie gegessen und getrunken hatten, ließ er sie gehen, daß sie zu ihrem HERRN zogen. Seitdem kamen die Kriegsleute der Syrer nicht mehr ins Land Israel.
24 Later after this Ben Hadad king of Aram gathered all his army and attacked Samaria and besieged it.
Nach diesem begab sich's, daß Benhadad, der König zu Syrien, all sein Heer versammelte und zog herauf und belagerte Samaria.
25 So there was a great famine in Samaria. Behold, they besieged it until a donkey's head was sold for eighty pieces of silver, and the fourth part of a kab of dove's dung for five pieces of silver.
Und es war eine große Teurung zu Samaria. Sie aber belagerten die Stadt, bis daß ein Eselskopf achtzig Silberlinge und ein Vierteil Kad Taubenmist fünf Silberlinge galt.
26 As the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried to him, saying, “Help, my master, king.”
Und da der König Israels zur Mauer ging, schrie ihn ein Weib an und sprach: Hilf mir, mein HERR König!
27 He said, “If Yahweh does not help you, how can I help you? Is there anything coming from the threshing floor or winepress?”
Er sprach: Hilft dir der HERR nicht, woher soll ich dir helfen? Von der Tenne oder von der Kelter?
28 The king continued, “What is troubling you?” She answered, “This woman said to me, 'Give your son so that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow.'”
Und der König sprach zu ihr: Was ist dir? Sie sprach: Dies Weib sprach zu mir: Gib deinen Sohn her, daß wir heute essen; morgen wollen wir meinen Sohn essen.
29 So we boiled my son and ate him, and I said to her on the next day, “Give your son that we may eat him, but she has hidden her son.”
So haben wir meinen Sohn gekocht und gegessen. Und ich sprach zu ihr am andern Tage: Gib deinen Sohn her und laß uns essen! Aber sie hat ihren Sohn versteckt.
30 So when the king heard the words of the woman, he tore his clothes (now he was passing by on the wall), and the people looked and saw that he had sackcloth underneath, against his skin.
Da der König die Worte des Weibes hörete, zerriß er seine Kleider, indem er zur Mauer ging. Da sah alles Volk, daß er einen Sack unten am Leibe anhatte.
31 Then he said, “May God do so to me, and more also, if the head of Elisha son of Shaphat remains on him today.”
Und er sprach: Gott tue mir dies und das, wo das Haupt Elisas, des Sohns Saphats, heute auf ihm stehen wird!
32 But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. The king sent a man from before him, but when the messenger came to Elisha, he said to the elders, “See how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Look, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?”
(Elisa aber saß in seinem Hause, und die Ältesten saßen bei ihm.) Und er sandte einen Mann vor ihm her. Aber ehe der Bote zu ihm kam, sprach er zu den Ältesten: Habt ihr gesehen, wie dies Mordkind hat hergesandt, daß er mein Haupt abreiße? Sehet zu, wenn der Bote kommt, daß ihr die Tür zuschließet und stoßet ihn mit der Tür weg; siehe, das Rauschen seines HERRN Füße folget ihm nach.
33 While he was still talking with them, behold, the messenger came down to him. The king had said, “Behold, this trouble comes from Yahweh. Why should I wait for Yahweh any longer?”
Da er noch also mit ihnen redete, siehe, da kam der Bote zu ihm herab und sprach: Siehe, solch Übel kommt von dem HERRN; was soll ich mehr von dem HERRN gewarten?
