2 Corinthians 2
1 So I decided for my own part that I would not again come to you in painful circumstances.
Porém, deliberei isto comigo mesmo: não ir mais ter convosco em tristeza.
2 If I caused you pain, who could cheer me up but the very one who was hurt by me?
Porque, se eu vos entristeço, quem é que me alegrará, senão aquele que por mim foi contristado?
3 I wrote as I did in order that when I came to you I might not be hurt by those who should have made me rejoice. I have confidence about all of you that my joy is the same joy you all have.
E escrevi-vos isto mesmo, para que, quando lá for, não tenha tristeza da parte dos que deveriam alegrar-me; confiando em vós todos, que a minha alegria é a de todos vós.
4 For I wrote to you from great affliction, with anguish of heart, and with many tears. I did not want to cause you pain. Instead, I wanted you to know the depth of the love that I have for you.
Porque em muita tribulação e angústia do coração vos escrevi com muitas lágrimas, não para que vos entristecesseis, mas para que conhecesseis o amor que abundantemente vos tenho.
5 If anyone has caused pain, he has not caused it only to me, but in some measure—not to put it too harshly—to all of you.
Porque, se alguém me contristou, não me contristou a mim senão em parte, para vos não sobrecarregar a vós todos.
6 This punishment of that person by the majority is enough.
Basta-lhe ao tal esta repreensão feita por muitos:
7 So now rather than punishment, you should forgive and comfort him. Do this so that he is not overwhelmed by too much sorrow.
De maneira que antes pelo contrário deveis perdoar-lhe e consolá-lo, para que o tal não seja de modo algum devorado de demasiada tristeza.
8 So I encourage you to publicly affirm your love for him.
Pelo que rogo-vos que confirmeis para com ele o vosso amor.
9 This was the reason I wrote, so that I might test you and know whether you are obedient in everything.
Porque para isso vos escrevi também, para por esta prova saber se sois obedientes em tudo.
10 If you forgive anyone, I forgive that person as well. What I have forgiven—if I have forgiven anything—it is forgiven for your sake in the presence of Christ.
E a quem perdoardes alguma coisa também eu; porque, se eu também perdoei, se é que tenho perdoado, por amor de vós o fiz na presença de Cristo; para que não sejamos vencidos por Satanás;
11 This is so that Satan will not trick us. For we are not ignorant of his plans.
Porque não ignoramos os seus ardis.
12 A door was opened to me by the Lord when I came to the city of Troas to preach the gospel of Christ there.
No demais, quando cheguei a Troas para pregar o evangelho de Cristo, e abrindo-se-me uma porta no Senhor,
13 I had no relief in my spirit, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I left them and went on to Macedonia.
Não tive repouso no meu espírito, porque não achei ali meu irmão Tito; mas, despedindo-me deles, parti para a Macedônia.
14 But may thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in triumph. Through us he spreads the sweet aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.
E graças a Deus, que sempre nos faz triunfar em Cristo, e por nós manifesta em todo o lugar o cheiro do seu conhecimento.
15 For we are to God the sweet aroma of Christ, both among those who are saved and among those who are perishing.
Porque para Deus somos o bom cheiro de Cristo, em os que se salvam e em os que se perdem:
16 To the people who are perishing, it is an aroma from death to death. To the ones being saved, it is an aroma from life to life. Who is worthy of these things?
Para estes certamente cheiro de morte para morte; mas para aqueles cheiro de vida para vida. E para estas coisas quem é idôneo?
17 For we are not like so many people who sell the word of God for profit. Instead, with purity of motives, we speak in Christ, as we are sent from God, in the sight of God.
Porque nós não somos, como muitos, falsificadores da palavra de Deus, antes falamos de Cristo com sinceridade, como de Deus na presença de Deus.
