2 Chronicles 9
1 When the queen of Sheba heard of Solomon's fame, she came to Jerusalem to test him with hard questions. She came with a very long caravan, with camels loaded with spices, much gold, and many precious gemstones. When she had come to Solomon, she told him all that was in her heart.
Khi Nữ vương Sê-ba nghe danh tiếng của Sa-lô-môn, bà bèn đến Giê-ru-sa-lem; đặt nhiều câu hỏi khó để thử tài Sa-lô-môn. Bà đến với một đoàn tùy tùng đông đảo, cùng đoàn lạc đà chở rất nhiều hương liệu, vàng, và ngọc. Khi gặp Sa-lô-môn, bà nói với vua tất cả những nghi vấn trong lòng.
2 Solomon answered her all her questions; nothing was too difficult for Solomon; there was no question that he did not answer.
Sa-lô-môn giải đáp các thắc mắc, không có điều gì là khó khăn cho vua.
3 When the queen of Sheba saw Solomon's wisdom and the palace that he had built,
Nữ vương Sê-ba thấy sự khôn ngoan của Sa-lô-môn và cung điện ông xây cất,
4 the food on his table, the seating of his servants, the work of his servants and their clothing, also his cupbearers and their clothing, and the burnt offerings he made at the house of Yahweh, and there was no more breath in her.
bà vô cùng thán phục. Bà cũng rất ngạc nhiên về những thức ăn trên bàn vua, thứ tự uy nghi của các đại thần và áo quần lộng lẫy của họ, các quan tửu chánh cùng áo choàng của họ, và những tế lễ thiêu mà Sa-lô-môn dâng tại đền thờ của Chúa Hằng Hữu.
5 She said to the king, “It is true, the report that I heard in my own land of your words and your wisdom.
Nữ vương nói với vua: “Thật đúng như lời người ta đồn đại trong nước tôi về thành tựu và sự khôn ngoan của vua!
6 I did not believe what I heard until I came here, and now my eyes have seen it. Not half was told me about your wisdom and wealth! You have exceeded the fame that I heard about.
Tuy nhiên, trước kia tôi không tin, mà nay thấy tận mắt rồi, tôi phải nhìn nhận người ta chỉ kể cho tôi một nửa sự thật thôi! Vua thật khôn ngoan bội phần!
7 How blessed are your people, and how blessed are your servants who constantly stand before you, because they hear your wisdom.
Con dân của vua thật có phước! Các cận thần ngày ngày chầu chực và nghe các lời châu ngọc của vua thật có phước!
8 Blessed be Yahweh your God, who has taken pleasure in you, who placed you on his throne, to be king for Yahweh your God. Because your God loved Israel, in order to establish them forever, he had made you king over them, for you to do justice and righteousness!”
Đáng chúc tụng Chúa Hằng Hữu, Đức Chúa Trời vua, vì Ngài vui lòng đặt vua trên ngôi báu để thay Ngài cai trị. Vì Đức Chúa Trời yêu thương dân tộc Ít-ra-ên, lập vững dân này đến đời đời, và vì Ngài đặt vua lên cai trị họ để xét xử công minh và thi hành sự công chính.”
9 She gave the king 120 talents of gold and a large amount of spices and precious stones. No greater amount of spices as these that the queen of Sheba gave to King Solomon was ever given to him again.
Nữ vương tặng vua 4.000 ký vàng, rất nhiều hương liệu, và ngọc quý. Từ trước đến nay, chưa có ai có loại hương liệu nào quý như hương liệu của Nữ vương Sê-ba tặng Vua Sa-lô-môn.
10 The servants of Hiram and the servants of Solomon, who brought gold from Ophir, also brought algum wood and precious stones.
(Trong chuyến đi Ô-phia lấy vàng, các thủy thủ của Hi-ram và Sa-lô-môn cũng chở về nhiều gỗ bạch đàn hương và bảo thạch.
11 With the algum wood, the king made steps for the house of Yahweh and for his house, as well as harps and lyres for the musicians. No wood like this had been seen before in the land of Judah.
Vua dùng gỗ này làm các bực thềm trong Đền Thờ Chúa Hằng Hữu và cung điện, cùng làm các đàn thụ cầm và đàn hạc. Trước kia ở nước Giu-đa chưa bao giờ có loại gỗ quý này.)
12 King Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba everything she desired and whatever she asked for; he gave her more than what she had brought to the king. So she left and went back to her own land, she and her servants.
Vua Sa-lô-môn tặng Nữ vương Sê-ba tất cả những gì nữ vương yêu cầu—những tặng phẩm này còn giá trị hơn những thứ nữ vương đem đến tặng vua. Rồi bà cùng đoàn tùy tùng trở về nước.
13 Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was 666 talents of gold,
Mỗi năm, Sa-lô-môn thu được 25 tấn vàng.
14 besides the gold that the traders and merchants brought. All the kings of Arabia and the governors in the country also brought gold and silver to Solomon.
Chưa kể số vàng các thương gia và người bán dạo mang vào nước. Các vua A-rập và các tổng trấn trong nước đều đem vàng và bạc đến nạp cho Sa-lô-môn.
15 King Solomon made two hundred large shields of beaten gold. Six hundred shekels of gold went into each one.
Vua Sa-lô-môn cho làm 200 chiếc khiên lớn bằng vàng gò, mỗi chiếc nặng 6,8 ký.
16 He also made three hundred shields of beaten gold. Three minas of gold went into each shield; the king put them into the House of the Forest of Lebanon.
Ông cũng cho làm 300 chiếc khiên nhỏ bằng vàng gò, mỗi chiếc nặng 3,4 ký. Tất cả các khiên ấy đều tồn trữ trong Cung Rừng Li-ban.
17 Then the king made a great throne of ivory and overlaid it with the finest gold.
Rồi Vua cho làm một chiếc ngai lớn bằng ngà bọc vàng ròng.
18 There were six steps to the throne, and a footstool was attached to the throne. On each side of the throne there were armrests with two lions standing beside each of them.
Ngai có sáu bậc thang, và một cái bệ bằng vàng gắn chặt vào ngai và hai bên ngai có tay dựa, mỗi bên có hình sư tử bằng vàng.
19 Twelve lions stood on the steps, one on each side of each of the six steps. There was no throne like it in any other kingdom.
Trên sáu bậc thang có đúc mười hai sư tử, mỗi bên có sáu con. Đây là chiếc ngai đặc biệt không nước nào có cả!
20 All King Solomon's drinking cups were gold, and all the drinking cups in the House of the Forest of Lebanon were of pure gold. None were silver because silver was not considered valuable in Solomon's days.
Các ly uống nước của Sa-lô-môn đều được làm bằng vàng ròng, cũng như các dụng cụ trong Cung Rừng Li-ban làm bằng vàng ròng. Họ không làm bằng bạc vì trong đời Sa-lô-môn, bạc là loại tầm thường!
21 The king had at sea a fleet of oceangoing ships, along with the fleet of Hiram. Once every three years the fleet brought gold, silver, and ivory, as well as apes and baboons.
Đoàn tàu của vua vượt biển qua Ta-rê-si với các thủy thủ của Hi-ram, cứ ba năm một lần, chở về cho Sa-lô-môn rất nhiều vàng, bạc, ngà, dã nhân, và công.
22 So King Solomon exceeded all the kings of the world in riches and in wisdom.
Vua Sa-lô-môn nổi danh là giàu có và khôn ngoan hơn hết các vua trên đất.
23 All the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon in order to hear his wisdom, which God had put in his heart.
Vua các nước đều tìm dịp đến thăm vua và nghe những lời khôn ngoan Chúa đã đặt trong lòng vua.
24 Those who visited brought tribute, vessels of silver and of gold, clothes, armor, and spices, as well as horses and mules, year after year.
Hằng năm, các vua cũng tiến cống nhiều lễ vật, các khí cụ bằng bạc và vàng, các y phục, khí giới, hương liệu, ngựa, và la.
25 Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen, which he stationed in the chariot cities and with himself in Jerusalem.
Sa-lô-môn có 4.000 tàu ngựa và chiến xa. Số kỵ binh của vua lên đến 12.000 chia nhau đóng giữ các căn cứ quân sự, bảo vệ vua và phòng thủ Giê-ru-sa-lem.
26 He ruled over all the kings from the Euphrates River to the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.
Sa-lô-môn cai trị trên các vua chư hầu từ Sông Ơ-phơ-rát đến lãnh thổ Phi-li-tin và xuống tận biên giới Ai Cập.
27 The king had silver in Jerusalem, as much as the stones on the ground. He made cedar wood to be as abundant as the sycamore fig trees that are in the lowlands.
Tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, vua làm cho bạc bị xem thường như đá, và gỗ bá hương, tùng bách như gỗ cây sung.
28 They brought horses for Solomon from Egypt and from all the lands.
Ngựa của Vua Sa-lô-môn được nhập từ Ai Cập và các nước khác.
29 As for the other matters concerning Solomon, first and last, are they not written in The History of Nathan the Prophet, in The Prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in The Visions of Iddo the Seer (which also had information about Jeroboam son of Nebat)?
Các việc khác của Sa-lô-môn, từ đầu đến cuối đều ghi vào Sách của Tiên Tri Na-than và Sách Tiên Tri của A-hi-gia từ Si-lô, và cũng ghi trong Sách Khải Tượng của Nhà Tiên Kiến Y-đô, là sách ghi chép các biến cố liên hệ đến Giê-rô-bô-am, con Nê-bát.
30 Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel for forty years.
Sa-lô-môn trị vì tại Giê-ru-sa-lem trên toàn dân Ít-ra-ên được bốn mươi năm.
31 He slept with his ancestors and the people buried him in the city of David his father. Rehoboam, his son, became king in his place.
Vua qua đời và được an táng trong Thành Đa-vít. Con trai ông là Rô-bô-am lên ngôi kế vị.
