2 Chronicles 7
1 Now when Solomon had finished praying, fire came down from heaven and consumed the burnt offerings and sacrifices, and the glory of Yahweh filled the house.
Comme Salomon achevait de prier, le feu descendit du ciel et consuma l'holocauste et les sacrifices, et la gloire de l'Éternel remplit la maison.
2 The priests could not enter the house of Yahweh, because his glory filled his house.
Les prêtres ne pouvaient pas entrer dans la maison de l'Éternel, car la gloire de l'Éternel remplissait la maison de l'Éternel.
3 When all the people of Israel saw the fire come down and the glory of Yahweh over the house, they bowed down with their faces to the ground on the stone pavement and worshiped and gave thanks to Yahweh. They said, “For he is good, for his covenant loyalty endures forever.”
Tous les enfants d'Israël regardaient, quand le feu descendait et que la gloire de l'Éternel était sur la maison. Ils se prosternèrent le visage contre terre sur le pavé, se prosternèrent et rendirent grâce à Yahvé, en disant, « Car il est bon, car sa bonté est éternelle! »
4 So the king and all the people offered sacrifices to Yahweh.
Puis le roi et tout le peuple offrirent des sacrifices devant Yahvé.
5 King Solomon offered a sacrifice of twenty-two thousand oxen and 120,000 sheep and goats. So the king and all the people dedicated the house of God.
Le roi Salomon offrit un sacrifice de vingt-deux mille têtes de bétail et de cent vingt mille moutons. Le roi et tout le peuple firent ainsi la dédicace de la maison de Dieu.
6 The priests stood, each standing where they serve; the Levites also with instruments of music of Yahweh, which David the king had made to give thanks to Yahweh in the song, “For his covenant faithfulness endures for ever.” All the priests sounded trumpets before them, and all Israel stood.
Les prêtres se tinrent debout, selon leurs fonctions; les Lévites aussi, avec les instruments de musique de l'Éternel, que le roi David avait fabriqués pour rendre grâces à l'Éternel, lorsque David louait par leur ministère, en disant: « Car sa bonté dure à toujours. » Les prêtres sonnèrent des trompettes devant eux, et tout Israël se tint debout.
7 Solomon set apart the middle of the courtyard in front of the house of Yahweh. There he offered the burnt offerings and the fat of the fellowship offerings, because the bronze altar that he had made was not able to hold the burnt offerings, the grain offerings, and the fat.
Salomon sanctifia le milieu du parvis de la maison de l'Éternel, car c'est là qu'il offrait les holocaustes et les graisses des sacrifices d'actions de grâces, car l'autel d'airain que Salomon avait fait ne pouvait pas recevoir les holocaustes, les offrandes et les graisses.
8 So Solomon held the festival at that time for seven days, and all Israel with him, a very great assembly, from Lebo Hamath to the brook of Egypt.
Et Salomon fit la fête en ce temps-là pendant sept jours, et tout Israël avec lui, une très grande assemblée, depuis l'entrée de Hamath jusqu'au torrent d'Égypte.
9 On the eighth day they held a solemn assembly, for they kept the dedication of the altar for seven days, and the feast for seven days.
Le huitième jour, ils tinrent une assemblée solennelle, car ils célébrèrent la dédicace de l'autel pendant sept jours et la fête pendant sept jours.
10 On the twenty-third day of the seventh month, Solomon sent the people away to their homes with glad and joyful hearts because of the goodness that Yahweh had shown to David, Solomon, and Israel, his people.
Le vingt-troisième jour du septième mois, il renvoya le peuple dans ses tentes, dans la joie et l'allégresse, à cause de la bonté que l'Éternel avait manifestée à David, à Salomon et à Israël, son peuple.
11 Thus Solomon finished the house of Yahweh and his own house. Everything that came into Solomon's heart to make in the house of Yahweh and in his own house, he successfully carried out.
Salomon acheva ainsi la maison de Yahvé et la maison du roi; il acheva avec succès tout ce qui était venu au cœur de Salomon de faire dans la maison de Yahvé et dans sa propre maison.
12 Yahweh appeared to Solomon by night and said to him, “I have heard your prayer, and I have chosen this place for myself as a house of sacrifice.
Et Yahvé apparut de nuit à Salomon et lui dit: « J'ai entendu ta prière et je me suis choisi ce lieu pour en faire une maison de sacrifice.
13 Suppose that I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or if I command the locust to devour the land, or if I send disease among my people,
« Si je ferme le ciel et qu'il n'y ait pas de pluie, si j'ordonne aux sauterelles de dévorer le pays, ou si j'envoie la peste parmi mon peuple,
14 then if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves, pray, seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven, forgive their sin, and heal their land.
si mon peuple, sur lequel mon nom est invoqué, s'humilie, prie, cherche ma face et se détourne de ses mauvaises voies, j'entendrai des cieux, je pardonnerai son péché et je guérirai son pays.
15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayers that are made in this place.
Maintenant, mes yeux seront ouverts et mes oreilles attentives à la prière qui sera faite en ce lieu.
16 For I have now chosen and set apart this house that my name may be there forever. My eyes and my heart will be there every day.
Car maintenant, j'ai choisi et sanctifié cette maison, pour que mon nom y soit à jamais, et mes yeux et mon cœur y seront toujours.
17 As for you, if you walk before me as David your father walked, obeying all that I have commanded you and keeping my statutes and my decrees,
« Quant à toi, si tu marches devant moi comme a marché David, ton père, si tu fais tout ce que je t'ai ordonné, si tu observes mes lois et mes ordonnances,
18 then I will establish the throne of your kingdom, as I said in a covenant with David your father, when I said, 'A descendant of yours will never fail to be ruler in Israel.'
alors j'affermirai le trône de ton royaume, comme je l'ai promis à David, ton père, en disant: « Tu ne manqueras pas d'un homme pour dominer en Israël ».
19 But if you turn away, and forsake my statutes and my commandments that I have placed before you, and if you go worship other gods and bow down to them,
Mais si vous vous détournez et si vous abandonnez mes lois et mes commandements que j'ai mis devant vous, pour aller servir d'autres dieux et vous prosterner devant eux,
20 then I will uproot them from out of my ground that I have given them. This house that I have set apart for my name, I will cast away from before me, and I will make it a proverb and a joke among all the peoples.
je les arracherai par les racines du pays que je leur ai donné, et je rejetterai loin de moi cette maison que j'ai sanctifiée pour mon nom, et j'en ferai un proverbe et une rengaine parmi tous les peuples.
21 Even though this temple is so lofty now, everyone who passes by it will be shocked and will hiss. They will ask, 'Why has Yahweh done this to this land and to this house?'
Cette maison, qui est si haute, tous ceux qui passeront près d'elle seront étonnés et diront: « Pourquoi Yahvé a-t-il fait cela à ce pays et à cette maison? »
22 Others will answer, 'Because they forsook Yahweh, their God, who had brought their ancestors out of the land of Egypt, and they laid hold of other gods and bowed down to them and worshiped them. That is why Yahweh has brought all this disaster on them.'”
Ils répondront: « Parce qu'ils ont abandonné Yahvé, le Dieu de leurs pères, qui les a fait sortir du pays d'Égypte, et qu'ils ont pris d'autres dieux, se sont prosternés devant eux et les ont servis. C'est pourquoi il a fait venir sur eux tous ces malheurs ».
