2 Chronicles 23
1 In the seventh year, Jehoiada showed his strength and entered into a covenant with the commanders of hundreds, Azariah son of Jeroham, Ishmael son of Jehohanan, Azariah son of Obed, Maaseiah son of Adaiah, and Elishaphat son of Zichri.
Mas el séptimo año se animó Joiada, y tomó consigo en alianza a los centuriones, a Azarías hijo de Jeroham, y a Ismael hijo de Johanán, y a Azarías hijo de Obed, y a Maasías hijo de Adaías, y a Elisafat hijo de Zicri;
2 They went about in Judah and gathered the Levites from all the cities of Judah, as well as the heads of the ancestral houses of Israel, and they came to Jerusalem.
los cuales rodeando por Judá, juntaron los levitas de todas las ciudades de Judá, y a los príncipes de las familias de Israel, y vinieron a Jerusalén.
3 All the assembly made a covenant with the king in the house of God. Jehoiada said to them, “See, the king's son will reign, as Yahweh has said concerning the descendants of David.
Y toda la multitud hizo alianza con el rey en la Casa de Dios. Y él les dijo: He aquí el hijo del rey, el cual reinará, como el SEÑOR lo tiene dicho de los hijos de David.
4 This is what you must do: A third of you priests and Levites who come to serve on the Sabbath will be guards at the doors.
Lo que habéis de hacer es: la tercera parte de vosotros, los que entran el sábado, estarán de porteros con los sacerdotes y los levitas;
5 Another third will be at the king's house, and the other third will be at the Foundation Gate. All the people will be in the courtyard of the house of Yahweh.
y la tercera parte, a la casa del rey; y la tercera parte, a la puerta del Cimiento; y todo el pueblo estará en los atrios de la Casa del SEÑOR.
6 Allow no one to come into the house of Yahweh, except for the priests and the Levites who are serving. They may enter because they are consecrated. But all the other people must obey the commands of Yahweh.
Y ninguno entre en la Casa del SEÑOR, sino los sacerdotes y los levitas que sirven; éstos entrarán, porque son santos; y todo el pueblo hará la guardia del SEÑOR.
7 The Levites must surround the king on all sides, every man with his weapons in his hand. Whoever comes into the house, let him be killed. Stay with the king when he comes in and when he goes out.”
Y los levitas rodearán al rey por todas partes, y cada uno tendrá sus armas en la mano; y cualquiera que entrare en la Casa, muera; y estaréis con el rey cuando entrare, y cuando saliere.
8 So the Levites and all Judah served in every way in the manner in which Jehoiada the priest commanded. Each one took his men, those who were to come in to serve on the Sabbath, and those who were to leave off serving on the Sabbath, for Jehoiada the priest had not dismissed any of their divisions.
Y los levitas y todo Judá lo hicieron todo como lo había mandado el sacerdote Joiada; y tomó cada uno los suyos, los que entraban el sábado, y los que salían el sábado; porque el sacerdote Joiada no dio licencia a las compañías.
9 Then Jehoiada the priest brought to the commanders spears and small and large shields that had been King David's that were in the house of God.
Dio también el sacerdote Joiada a los centuriones las lanzas, paveses y escudos que habían sido del rey David, que estaban en la Casa de Dios;
10 Jehoiada placed all the soldiers, each man with his weapon in his hand, from the right side of the temple to the left side of the temple, along by the altar and the temple, surrounding the king.
y puso en orden a todo el pueblo, teniendo cada uno su espada en la mano, desde el rincón derecho del templo hasta el izquierdo, hacia el altar y la Casa, en derredor del rey por todas partes.
11 Then they brought out the king's son, put the crown on him, and gave him the covenant decrees. Then they made him king, and Jehoiada and his sons anointed him. Then they said, “Long live the king.”
Entonces sacaron al hijo del rey, y le pusieron la corona y el testimonio, y le hicieron rey; y Joiada y sus hijos lo ungieron, diciendo: ¡Viva el rey!
12 When Athaliah heard the noise of the people running and praising the king, she came to the people in the house of Yahweh,
Y cuando Atalía oyó el estruendo del pueblo que corría, y de los que bendecían al rey, vino al pueblo a la Casa del SEÑOR;
13 and she looked, and, behold, the king was standing by his pillar at the entrance, and the commanders and the trumpeters were by the king. All the people of the land were rejoicing and blowing trumpets, and the singers were playing musical instruments and leading the singing of praise. Then Athaliah tore her clothes and shouted, “Treason! Treason!”
y mirando, vio al rey que estaba junto a su columna a la entrada, y los príncipes y los trompetas junto al rey, y que todo el pueblo de la tierra hacía alegrías, y sonaban bocinas, y cantaban con instrumentos de música los que sabían alabar. Entonces Atalía rasgó sus vestidos, y dijo: ¡Conjuración, conjuración!
14 Then Jehoiada the priest brought out the commanders of hundreds who were over the army and said to them, “Bring her out between the ranks; anyone who follows her, let him be killed with the sword.” For the priest had said, “Do not kill her in the house of Yahweh.”
Y sacando el sumo sacerdote Joiada los centuriones y capitanes del ejército, les dijo: Sacadla fuera del recinto; y el que la siguiere, muera a cuchillo; porque el sacerdote había mandado que no la matasen en la Casa del SEÑOR.
15 So they seized her as she went into the entrance of the Horse Gate of the king's house, and there they killed her.
Y ellos pusieron las manos en ella, y ella se entró en la entrada de la puerta de los caballos de la casa del rey, y allí la mataron.
16 Then Jehoiada made a covenant between himself, all the people, and the king, that they should be Yahweh's people.
Y Joiada hizo pacto entre sí y todo el pueblo y el rey, que serían pueblo del SEÑOR.
17 So all the people went to the house of Baal and tore it down. They smashed Baal's altars and his images to pieces, and they killed Mattan, the priest of Baal, in front of those altars.
Después de esto entró todo el pueblo en el templo de Baal, y lo derribaron, y también sus altares; y quebraron sus imágenes, y mataron delante de los altares a Matán, sacerdote de Baal.
18 Jehoiada appointed officers for the house of Yahweh under the hand of the priests, who were Levites, whom David had assigned to the house of Yahweh, to offer the burnt offerings to Yahweh, as it was written in the law of Moses, together with rejoicing and singing, as David had given direction.
Luego ordenó Joiada los oficios en la Casa del SEÑOR bajo la mano de los sacerdotes y de los levitas, según David los había distribuido en la Casa del SEÑOR, para ofrecer al SEÑOR los holocaustos, como está escrito en la ley de Moisés, con gozo y cantares, conforme a la ordenación de David.
19 Jehoiada set guards at the gates of the house of Yahweh, so that no one that was unclean in any way should enter.
Puso también porteros a las puertas de la Casa del SEÑOR, para que por ninguna vía entrase ningún inmundo.
20 Jehoiada took with him the commanders of hundreds, the noblemen, the governors of the people, and all the people of the land. He brought down the king from the house of Yahweh; the people came through the Upper Gate to the king's house and sat the king on the throne of the kingdom.
Tomó después los centuriones, y los principales, y los que gobernaban el pueblo; y a todo el pueblo de la tierra, y llevó al rey de la Casa del SEÑOR; y viniendo hasta el medio de la puerta mayor de la casa del rey, sentaron al rey sobre el trono del reino.
21 So all the people of the land rejoiced, and the city was quiet. As for Athaliah, they had killed her with the sword.
Y todo el pueblo del país hizo alegrías; y la ciudad estuvo quieta; después que mataron a Atalía a cuchillo.
