2 Chronicles 22
1 The inhabitants of Jerusalem made Ahaziah, Jehoram's youngest son, king in his place, for the band of men that came with the Arabians into the camp had killed all his older sons. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, became king.
Les habitants de Jérusalem firent régner à sa place Achazia, son plus jeune fils, car la bande d'hommes qui était venue au camp avec les Arabes avait tué tous les plus âgés. Ainsi régna Achazia, fils de Joram, roi de Juda.
2 Ahaziah was twenty-two years old when he began to reign; he reigned for one year in Jerusalem. His mother's name was Athaliah; she was the daughter of Omri.
Achazia avait quarante-deux ans lorsqu'il devint roi, et il régna un an à Jérusalem. Le nom de sa mère était Athalie, fille d'Omri.
3 He also walked in the ways of the house of Ahab for his mother was his advisor in doing wicked things.
Il marchait aussi dans les voies de la maison d'Achab, car sa mère le conseillait dans sa méchanceté.
4 Ahaziah did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh, as the house of Ahab was doing, for they were his advisors after the death of his father, to his destruction.
Il fit ce qui est mal aux yeux de l'Éternel, comme la maison d'Achab, car ils furent ses conseillers après la mort de son père, pour le détruire.
5 He also followed their advice; he went with Joram son of Ahab, king of Israel, to fight against Hazael, king of Aram, at Ramoth Gilead. The Arameans wounded Joram.
Il suivit aussi leurs conseils et alla avec Joram, fils d'Achab, roi d'Israël, à la guerre contre Hazaël, roi de Syrie, à Ramoth Galaad; et les Syriens blessèrent Joram.
6 Joram returned to be healed in Jezreel of the wounds that they had given him at Ramah, when he fought against Hazael, king of Aram. So Ahaziah son of Jehoram, king of Judah, went down to Jezreel to see Joram son of Ahab, because Joram had been wounded.
Il revint se faire guérir à Jizreel des blessures qu'on lui avait faites à Rama, lorsqu'il combattait Hazaël, roi de Syrie. Azaria, fils de Joram, roi de Juda, descendit voir Joram, fils d'Achab, à Jizreel, car il était malade.
7 Now the destruction of Ahaziah was brought about by God through Ahaziah's visit to Joram. When he had arrived, he went with Jehoram to attack Jehu son of Nimshi, whom Yahweh had chosen to destroy the house of Ahab.
Or, la destruction d'Achazia fut le fait de Dieu, en ce qu'il alla vers Joram; car, quand il fut arrivé, il sortit avec Joram contre Jéhu, fils de Nimshi, que l'Éternel avait oint pour exterminer la maison d'Achab.
8 It came about, when Jehu was carrying out God's judgment on the house of Ahab, that he found the leaders of Judah and the sons of Ahaziah's brothers serving Ahaziah. Jehu killed them.
Lorsque Jéhu exerçait son jugement sur la maison d'Achab, il trouva les princes de Juda et les fils des frères d'Achazia au service d'Achazia, et il les tua.
9 Jehu looked for Ahaziah; they caught him hiding in Samaria, brought him to Jehu, and killed him. Then they buried him, for they said, “He is a son of Jehoshaphat, who sought Yahweh with all his heart.” So the house of Ahaziah had no more power to rule the kingdom.
Il chercha Achazia, et on l'attrapa (il se cachait maintenant à Samarie), on l'amena à Jéhu et on le tua; puis on l'enterra, car on disait: « C'est le fils de Josaphat, qui cherchait Yahvé de tout son cœur. » La maison d'Achazia n'avait plus le pouvoir de détenir le royaume.
10 Now when Athaliah, the mother of Ahaziah, saw that her son was dead, she arose and killed all the royal children in the house of Judah.
Et quand Athalie, mère d'Achazia, vit que son fils était mort, elle se leva et fit périr toute la race royale de la maison de Juda.
11 But Jehosheba, a daughter of the king, secretly took Joash son of Ahaziah away from the king's sons who were about to be killed. She put him and his nurse into a bedroom. So Jehosheba, a daughter of King Jehoram, the wife of Jehoiada the priest (for she was the sister of Ahaziah), hid him from Athaliah, so that Athaliah did not kill him.
Mais Joschabeath, fille du roi, prit Joas, fils d'Achazia, et le sauva furtivement du milieu des fils du roi qui avaient été tués, et le mit avec sa nourrice dans la chambre à coucher. Et Jéhoshabeath, fille du roi Joram, femme du prêtre Jehojada (car elle était la sœur d'Achazia), le cacha d'Athalie, afin qu'elle ne le tuât pas.
12 He was with them, hidden in the house of God for six years, while Athaliah reigned over the land.
Il resta avec eux, caché dans la maison de Dieu, six ans pendant qu'Athalie régnait sur le pays.
