2 Chronicles 15
1 The Spirit of God came on Azariah son of Oded.
L’Esprit de Dieu vint sur Azarias, fils d’Oded,
2 He went out to meet Asa and said to him, “Listen to me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin: Yahweh is with you, while you are with him. If you seek him, he will be found by you; but if you forsake him, he will forsake you.
qui alla au-devant d’Asa et lui dit: « Ecoutez-moi, Asa, et tout Juda et tout Benjamin. Yahweh est avec vous quand vous êtes avec lui; si vous le cherchez, il se laissera trouver par vous; mais si vous l’abandonnez, il vous abandonnera.
3 Now for a long period, Israel was without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without the law.
Pendant longtemps Israël a été sans vrai Dieu, sans prêtre qui enseignât, sans loi;
4 But when in their distress they turned to Yahweh, the God of Israel, and sought him, he was found by them.
mais, dans sa détresse, il s’est retourné vers Yahweh, son Dieu; ils l’ont cherché, et s’est laissé trouver par eux.
5 In those times there was no peace for him who traveled away, nor for him who traveled to here; instead, great troubles were on all the inhabitants of the lands.
Dans ces temps-là, pas de sécurité pour ceux qui allaient et venaient, car de grandes confusions pesaient sur tous les habitants des pays.
6 They were broken in pieces, nation against nation, and city against city, for God troubled them with all kinds of suffering.
On se heurtait, peuple contre peuple, ville contre ville, parce que Dieu les agitait par toutes sortes de tribulations.
7 But be strong, and do not let your hands be weak, for your work will be rewarded.”
Vous donc, montrez-vous forts, et que vos mains ne faiblissent pas, car il y aura récompense pour vos œuvres. »
8 When Asa heard these words, the prophecy of Oded the prophet, he took courage and drove away the disgusting things from all the land of Judah and Benjamin, and from the cities that he had captured from the hill country of Ephraim, and he rebuilt Yahweh's altar, which was in front of the portico of Yahweh's house.
En entendant ces paroles, la prophétie d’Oded, le prophète, Asa prit courage; il fit disparaître les abominations de tout le pays de Juda et de Benjamin et des villes qu’il avait prises dans la montagne d’Ephraïm, et restaura l’autel de Yahweh qui était devant le portique de Yahweh.
9 He gathered all Judah and Benjamin, and those who stayed with them—people from of Ephraim and Manasseh, and from Simeon. For they came from Israel to him in great numbers, when they saw that Yahweh his God was with him.
Il rassembla tout Juda et Benjamin, et ceux d’Ephraïm, de Manassé et de Siméon qui étaient venus séjourner parmi eux; car un grand nombre de gens d’Israël avaient passé de son côté, en voyant que Yahweh, son Dieu, était avec lui.
10 So they gathered together at Jerusalem in the third month, in the fifteenth year of Asa's reign.
Ils s’assemblèrent à Jérusalem le troisième mois de la quinzième année du règne d’Asa.
11 They sacrificed to Yahweh in that day some of the plunder that they had brought: seven hundred oxen and seven thousand sheep and goats.
Ce jour-là, ils immolèrent à Yahweh, sur le butin qu’ils avaient amené, sept cents bœufs et sept mille brebis.
12 They entered into a covenant to seek Yahweh, the God of their ancestors, with all their heart and with all their soul.
Ils prirent l’engagement solennel de chercher Yahweh, le Dieu de leurs pères, de tout leur cœur et de toute leur âme,
13 They agreed that whoever refused to seek Yahweh, the God of Israel, should be put to death, whether the person was small or great, whether man or woman.
et quiconque ne rechercherait pas Yahweh, le Dieu d’Israël, serait mis à mort, le petit comme le grand, l’homme comme la femme.
14 They swore to Yahweh with a loud voice, with shouting, and with trumpets and horns.
Ils firent un serment à Yahweh à haute voix, avec des cris d’allégresse, au son des trompettes et des cors;
15 All Judah rejoiced at the oath, for they had sworn with all their heart, and they sought God with their whole desire, and he was found by them. Yahweh gave them peace all around them.
tout Juda fut dans la joie de ce serment, car ils avaient juré de tout leur cœur; car c’est de leur pleine volonté qu’ils avaient cherché Yahweh, et il s’était laissé trouver par eux; et Yahweh leur donna la paix tout à l’entour.
16 He also removed Maacah, his grandmother, from being queen, because she had made a disgusting figure out of an Asherah pole. Asa cut down the disgusting figure, ground it to dust and burned it at the brook Kidron.
Le roi Asa ôta même à Maacha, sa mère, la dignité de reine-mère, parce qu’elle avait fait une idole abominable pour Astarté. Asa abattit son idole abominable et, l’ayant réduite en poudre, il la brûla au torrent de Cédron.
17 But the high places were not taken out of Israel. Nevertheless, Asa's heart was completely devoted all his days.
Mais les hauts lieux ne disparurent pas d’Israël, quoique le cœur d’Asa fut parfait pendant toute sa vie.
18 He brought into the house of God the silver and gold and the utensils that he and his father had dedicated for that purpose.
Il déposa dans la maison de Dieu les choses consacrées par son père et les choses consacrées par lui-même, de l’argent, de l’or et des vases.
19 There was no more war until the thirty-fifth year of Asa's reign.
Il n’y eut pas de guerre jusqu’à la trente-cinquième année du règne d’Asa.
