1 Thessalonians 5
1 Now concerning the times and seasons, brothers, you have no need that anything be written to you.
এখন ভাইবোনেরা, এসব কখন ঘটবে, সেই সময় ও কালের বিষয়ে তোমাদের কিছু লেখার প্রয়োজন নেই।
2 For you yourselves know perfectly well that the day of the Lord is coming like a thief in the night.
কারণ, তোমরা ভালোভাবেই জানো, রাতের বেলা যেমন চোর আসে, সেভাবেই প্রভুর দিন উপস্থিত হবে।
3 When they say, “Peace and safety,” then sudden destruction will come on them. It will be like birth pains in a pregnant woman. They will in no way escape.
লোকেরা যখন “শান্তি ও নিরাপত্তার” কথা বলবে, তখন গর্ভবতী নারীর প্রসববেদনার মতো অকস্মাৎ তাদের উপর ধ্বংস নেমে আসবে; তারা কোনোক্রমেই তা এড়াতে পারবে না।
4 But you, brothers, are not in darkness so that the day would overtake you like a thief.
কিন্তু ভাইবোনেরা, তোমরা তো অন্ধকারে থাকো না, তাই সেদিন তোমাদের চোরের মতো বিস্মিত করে তুলবে না।
5 For you are all sons of the light and sons of the day. We are not sons of the night or the darkness.
তোমরা সবাই জ্যোতির সন্তান এবং দিনের সন্তান। আমরা রাত্রির নই বা অন্ধকারেরও নই।
6 So then, let us not sleep as the rest do. Instead, let us keep watch and be sober.
তাই, অন্যদের মতো আমরা যেন নিদ্রামগ্ন না হই। আমরা যেন সচেতন থাকি ও আত্মসংযমী হই।
7 For those who sleep do so at night, and those who get drunk do so at night.
কারণ যারা নিদ্রা যায়, তারা রাত্রেই নিদ্রা যায় এবং মদ্যপানকারীরা রাত্রেই মত্ত হয়।
8 But since we belong to the day, we must stay sober and put on faith and love as a breastplate, and the hope of salvation for our helmet.
কিন্তু আমরা যেহেতু দিনের সন্তান, তাই এসো, আমরা আত্মসংযমী হয়ে উঠি; বিশ্বাস এবং ভালোবাসাকে বুকপাটা করি, আর পরিত্রাণের প্রত্যাশাকে করি শিরস্ত্রাণ।
9 For God did not appoint us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.
কারণ ঈশ্বর তাঁর ক্রোধের শিকার হওয়ার জন্য নয়, কিন্তু আমাদের প্রভু যীশু খ্রীষ্টের মাধ্যমে পরিত্রাণ লাভের জন্য আমাদের নিযুক্ত করেছেন।
10 It is he who died for us so that, whether we are awake or asleep, we may live together with him.
আমরা জীবিত থাকি বা নিদ্রাগত হই, তাঁরই সঙ্গে যেন জীবনধারণ করি, এই উদ্দেশ্যে তিনি আমাদের জন্য মৃত্যুবরণ করেছেন।
11 Therefore comfort one another and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
অতএব তোমরা এখন যেমন করছ, সেভাবেই পরস্পরকে প্রেরণা দাও এবং একজন আর একজনকে গড়ে উঠতে সাহায্য করো।
12 We ask you, brothers, to acknowledge those who labor among you and who are over you in the Lord and who admonish you.
ভাইবোনেরা, আমরা তোমাদের অনুরোধ করছি, তোমাদের মধ্যে যারা কঠোর পরিশ্রম করেন, যাঁরা প্রভুতে তোমাদের উপরে নিযুক্ত আছেন, যাঁরা তোমাদের সতর্ক করেন, তাঁদের সম্মান করো।
13 We also ask you to regard them highly in love because of their work. Be at peace among yourselves.
তাঁদের পরিষেবার জন্য ভালোবেসে সর্ব্বোচ্চ শ্রদ্ধা জানিয়ো। পরস্পরের সঙ্গে শান্তিতে বসবাস করো।
14 We exhort you, brothers: Warn the disorderly, encourage the discouraged, help the weak, and be patient toward all.
ভাইবোনেরা, আমরা তোমাদের মিনতি করছি, যারা অলস, তাদের সতর্ক করো, ভীরু প্রকৃতির ব্যক্তিকে প্রেরণা দিয়ো, দুর্বলকে সাহায্য করো, প্রত্যেকের প্রতি সহনশীলতা দেখিয়ো।
15 See that no one pays back evil for evil to anyone. Instead, pursue what is good for one another and for all.
দেখো, কেউ যেন অন্যায়ের প্রতিশোধ নিতে অন্যায় না করে, পরস্পরের এবং অন্যান্য সকলের প্রতি সবসময় সহৃদয় হতে চেষ্টা করে।
16 Rejoice always.
সবসময় আনন্দ করো;
17 Pray without ceasing.
অবিরত প্রার্থনা করো;
18 In everything give thanks. For this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
সমস্ত পরিস্থিতিতেই ধন্যবাদ জ্ঞাপন করো, কারণ খ্রীষ্ট যীশুতে তোমাদের জন্য এই হল ঈশ্বরের ইচ্ছা।
19 Do not quench the Spirit.
আত্মার আগুন নিভিয়ে দিয়ো না।
20 Do not despise prophecies.
কোনও ভাববাণী অগ্রাহ্য কোরো না।
21 Test all things. Hold on to what is good.
সবকিছু পরীক্ষা করে দেখো। যা কিছু উৎকৃষ্ট, তা আঁকড়ে থাকো।
22 Avoid every appearance of evil.
যা কিছু মন্দ, তা এড়িয়ে চলো।
23 May the God of peace make you completely holy. May your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved without blame for the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.
শান্তির ঈশ্বর স্বয়ং তোমাদের সর্বতোভাবে পবিত্র করে তুলুন। আমাদের প্রভু যীশু খ্রীষ্টের আগমনকালে তোমাদের সমগ্র আত্মা, প্রাণ ও দেহ, অনিন্দনীয়রূপে রক্ষিত হোক।
24 Faithful is he who calls you, the one who will also do it.
যিনি তোমাদের আহ্বান করেন, তিনি বিশ্বস্ত, তিনিই এই কাজ করবেন।
25 Brothers, pray also for us.
ভাইবোনেরা, আমাদের জন্য প্রার্থনা কোরো।
26 Greet all the brothers with a holy kiss.
পবিত্র চুম্বনে সব বিশ্বাসীকে সাদর সম্ভাষণ জানিয়ো।
27 I solemnly charge you by the Lord to have this letter read to all the brothers.
প্রভুর সাক্ষাতে আমি তোমাদের মিনতি করছি, সব ভাইবোনেদের কাছে এই পত্র যেন পাঠ করা হয়।
28 May the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you.
আমাদের প্রভু যীশু খ্রীষ্টের অনুগ্রহ তোমাদের সঙ্গে বিরাজ করুক।
