< 1 Thessalonians 4 >

1 Finally, brothers, we encourage and exhort you in the Lord Jesus. As you received instructions from us about how you must walk and please God, also in this way walk, so that you do so even more.
ⲁ̅ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲧⲛⲥⲟⲡⲥ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲧⲉⲧⲛϫⲓ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲓⲧⲟⲟⲧⲛ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲉⲧϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲁⲣⲉⲥⲕⲉ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲛϩⲏⲧⲥ ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣϩⲟⲩⲟ
2 For you know what instructions we gave you through the Lord Jesus.
ⲃ̅ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩ ⲛⲉ ⲙⲡⲁⲣⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲓⲁ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲛⲧⲁⲁⲩ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲓⲏⲥ
3 For this is the will of God, your sanctification, that you avoid sexual immorality,
ⲅ̅ⲡⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲡⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲛⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲉⲥⲁϩⲉ ⲧⲏⲩⲧⲛ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ⲛⲧⲡⲟⲣⲛⲉⲓⲁ
4 that each of you know how to possess his own vessel in holiness and honor,
ⲇ̅ⲉⲧⲣⲉ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲡⲟⲩⲁ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲥⲃⲟ ⲉⲕⲁ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲕⲉⲩⲟⲥ ⲛⲁϥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲃⲃⲟ ⲙⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲓⲙⲏ
5 not in the passion of lust (as the Gentiles who do not know God).
ⲉ̅ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲡⲁⲑⲟⲥ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲉⲡⲓⲑⲩⲙⲓⲁ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲛⲛⲕⲉϩⲉⲑⲛⲟⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲛⲥⲉⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ
6 Let no man transgress and wrong his brother in this matter. For the Lord is an avenger in all these things, just as we forewarned you and testified.
ⲋ̅ⲉⲧⲙⲣⲡⲃⲟⲗ ⲙⲡϣⲓ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲉⲧⲙϥⲉϭ ⲡⲉϥⲥⲟⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡϩⲱⲃ ϫⲉ ⲟⲩⲣⲉϥϫⲓⲕⲃⲁ ⲡⲉ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛⲁⲓ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲕⲁⲧⲁ ⲑⲉ ⲉⲛⲧⲁⲛϫⲟⲟⲥ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϫⲓⲛ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁⲛⲣⲙⲛⲧⲣⲉ
7 For God did not call us to uncleanness, but to holiness.
ⲍ̅ⲛⲧⲁ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲁϩⲙⲛ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲩϫⲱϩⲙ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲧⲃⲃⲟ
8 Therefore, he who rejects this rejects not people, but God, who gives his Holy Spirit to you.
ⲏ̅ⲧⲉⲛⲟⲩ ϭⲉ ⲡⲉⲧⲁⲑⲉⲧⲉⲓ ⲛⲛⲉϥⲁⲑⲉⲧⲉⲓ ⲛⲣⲱⲙⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲁⲗⲗⲁ ⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲓ ⲟⲛ ⲉⲛⲧⲁϥϯ ⲙⲡⲉϥⲡⲛⲁ ⲉⲧⲟⲩⲁⲁⲃ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ
9 Regarding brotherly love, you have no need for anyone to write to you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another.
ⲑ̅ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲧⲙⲛⲧⲙⲁⲓⲥⲟⲛ ⲇⲉ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲣⲭⲣⲓⲁ ⲁⲛ ⲛⲥϩⲁⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ⲛⲧⲱⲧⲛ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛ ϩⲉⲛⲣⲉϥϫⲓ ⲥⲃⲱ ⲛⲧⲙⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲉⲙⲉⲣⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ
10 Indeed, you do this for all the brothers who are in all Macedonia. But we exhort you, brothers, to do this even more.
ⲓ̅ⲕⲁⲓ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲓⲣⲉ ⲙⲙⲟⲥ ⲉⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲧⲏⲣⲟⲩ ⲉⲧϩⲛ ⲧⲙⲁⲕⲉⲇⲟⲛⲓⲁ ⲧⲏⲣⲥ ⲧⲛⲡⲁⲣⲁⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲇⲉ ⲙⲙⲱⲧⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲣϩⲟⲩⲟ
11 We also exhort you to aspire to live quietly, take care of your own responsibilities, and work with your hands, just as we commanded you,
ⲓ̅ⲁ̅
12 so that you may walk properly before outsiders and not be in any need.
ⲓ̅ⲃ̅ϫⲉⲕⲁⲥ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲉⲙⲟⲟϣⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲥⲁⲛⲏⲩ ⲛⲛⲁϩⲣⲛ ⲛⲁⲡⲃⲟⲗ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲧⲉⲧⲛⲧⲙⲁϩⲉ ⲛⲗⲁⲁⲩ
13 We do not want you to be uninformed, brothers, about those who sleep, so that you do not grieve like the rest who do not have hope.
ⲓ̅ⲅ̅ⲛⲧⲛⲟⲩⲱϣ ⲇⲉ ⲁⲛ ⲉⲧⲣⲉⲧⲛⲣⲁⲧⲥⲟⲟⲩⲛ ⲛⲉⲥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲧⲃⲉ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ϫⲉ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲗⲩⲡⲓ ⲛⲑⲉ ⲙⲡⲕⲉⲥⲉⲉⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲉⲙⲛⲧⲟⲩ ϩⲉⲗⲡⲓⲥ ⲙⲙⲁⲩ
14 For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Jesus those who have fallen asleep in him.
ⲓ̅ⲇ̅ⲉϣϫⲉ ⲧⲛⲡⲓⲥⲧⲉⲩⲉ ⲅⲁⲣ ϫⲉ ⲁⲓⲏⲥ ⲙⲟⲩ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲁϥⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲧⲁⲓ ⲧⲉ ⲑⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ ϩⲱⲟⲩ ϩⲓⲧⲛ ⲓⲏⲥ ϥⲛⲁⲛⲧⲟⲩ ⲛⲙⲙⲁϥ
15 For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, who are left at the coming of the Lord, will surely not go before those who have fallen asleep.
ⲓ̅ⲉ̅ⲉⲛϫⲱ ⲅⲁⲣ ⲙⲡⲁⲓ ⲛⲏⲧⲛ ϩⲙ ⲡϣⲁϫⲉ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϫⲉ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁⲥⲉⲉⲡⲉ ⲉⲧⲡⲁⲣϩⲟⲩⲥⲓⲁ ⲙⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲣϣⲟⲣⲡ ⲛⲛⲉⲛⲧⲁⲩⲛⲕⲟⲧⲕ
16 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven. He will come with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.
ⲓ̅ⲋ̅ϫⲉ ⲛⲧⲟϥ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲟⲩⲉϩⲥⲁϩⲛⲉ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩϩⲣⲟⲟⲩ ⲛⲁⲣⲭⲁⲅⲅⲉⲗⲟⲥ ϩⲛ ⲟⲩⲥⲁⲗⲡⲓⲅⲝ ⲛⲧⲉ ⲡⲛⲟⲩⲧⲉ ϥⲛⲏⲩ ⲉⲡⲉⲥⲏⲧ ⲉⲃⲟⲗ ϩⲛ ⲧⲡⲉ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲛⲉⲧⲙⲟⲟⲩⲧ ϩⲙ ⲡⲉⲭⲥ ⲛⲁⲧⲱⲟⲩⲛ ⲛϣⲟⲣⲡ
17 Then we who are alive, who are left, will together with them be caught up in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. In this way we will always be with the Lord.
ⲓ̅ⲍ̅ⲙⲛⲛⲥⲱⲥ ⲁⲛⲟⲛ ⲛⲉⲧⲟⲛϩ ⲛⲉⲧⲛⲁϣⲱϫⲡ ⲥⲉⲛⲁⲧⲟⲣⲡⲛ ⲛⲙⲙⲁⲩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲕⲗⲟⲟⲗⲉ ⲉⲧⲱⲙⲛⲧ ⲉⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲉⲡⲁⲏⲣ ⲁⲩⲱ ⲧⲛⲛⲁϣⲱⲡⲉ ⲙⲛ ⲡϫⲟⲉⲓⲥ ⲛⲧⲉⲉⲓϩⲉ ⲛⲟⲩⲟⲉⲓϣ ⲛⲓⲙ
18 Therefore, comfort one another with these words.
ⲓ̅ⲏ̅ϩⲱⲥⲧⲉ ⲡⲁⲣⲁⲕⲁⲗⲉⲓ ⲛⲛⲉⲧⲛⲉⲣⲏⲩ ϩⲛ ⲛⲉⲓϣⲁϫⲉ
