1 Samuel 7
1 The men of Kiriath Jearim came, took the ark of Yahweh, and brought it into the house of Abinadab on the hill. They set apart his son Eleazar to keep the ark of Yahweh.
І поприхо́дили люди Кір'ят-Єаріму, та й підняли́ Господнього ковчега, і вне́сли його до Авінадавого дому на узгір'ї в Ґів'ї, а сина його Елеазара посвятили стерегти́ Господнього ковчега.
2 From the day the ark remained in Kiriath Jearim, a long time passed, twenty years. All the house of Israel lamented and wished to turn to Yahweh.
І сталося, від дня, коли ковчег полишився у Кір'ят-Єарімі, минуло багато ча́су, а було його двадцять літ. А ввесь Ізраїлів дім плакав за Господом.
3 Samuel said to the entire house of Israel, “If you return to Yahweh with your whole heart, remove the foreign gods and the Ashtoreths from among you, turn your hearts to Yahweh, and worship him only, then he will rescue you from the hand of the Philistines.”
І сказав Самуїл до всього Ізраїлевого дому, говорячи: „Якщо ви ці́лим вашим серцем верта́єтеся до Господа, повикидайте з-поміж себе чужих богів та Аста́рт, і міцно прихиліть свої серця до Господа, і служіть Самому Йому, — і Він спасе́ вас із руки филисти́млян“.
4 Then the people of Israel removed the Baals and the Ashtoreths, and worshiped Yahweh only.
І повикидали Ізраїлеві сини Ваа́лів та Аста́рт, та й служили Господе́ві, Самому Йому.
5 Then Samuel said, “Bring together all Israel to Mizpah, and I will pray to Yahweh for you.”
І сказав Самуїл: „Зберіть усього Ізраїля до Міцпи́, а я буду молитися за вас до Господа!“
6 They gathered at Mizpah, drew water and poured it out before Yahweh. They fasted that day and said, “We have sinned against Yahweh.” It was there that Samuel decided disputes for the people of Israel and led the people.
І зібралися до Міцпи́, і че́рпали воду та лили перед Господнім лицем, і по́стили того дня, та й казали там: „Ми згрішили перед Господом!“І судив Самуїл Ізраїлевих синів у Міцпі́.
7 Now when the Philistines heard the people of Israel had gathered at Mizpah, the rulers of the Philistines attacked Israel. When the people of Israel heard of it, they were afraid of the Philistines.
І почули филисти́мляни, що Ізраїлеві сини зібралися до Міцпи́, — і підняли́ся филистимські володарі на Ізраїля. І почули про це Ізраїлеві сини, та й злякалися филисти́млян.
8 Then the people of Israel said to Samuel, “Do not stop calling out to Yahweh our God for us, so he will save us from the hand of the Philistines.”
І сказали Ізраїлеві сини до Самуїла: „Не переставай кли́кати за нас до Господа, нашого Бога, і нехай Він спасе́ нас від руки филисти́млян“.
9 Samuel took a nursing lamb and offered it as a whole burnt offering to Yahweh. Then Samuel cried out to Yahweh for Israel, and Yahweh answered him.
І взяв Самуїл одне моло́чне ягня́, і приніс його повним цілопа́ленням для Господа. І кли́кав Самуїл до Господа за Ізраїля, а Господь відповів йому.
10 As Samuel was offering up the burnt offering, the Philistines approached to attack Israel. But Yahweh thundered with a loud sound that day against the Philistines and threw them into confusion, and they were routed before Israel.
І прино́сив Самуїл цілопа́лення, а филисти́мляни приступи́ли до бо́ю проти Ізраїля. І загримів Госпо́дь того дня сильним громом на филисти́млян, та й привів їх у замі́шання, — і були́ вони побиті перед Ізраїлем.
11 The men of Israel went from Mizpah, and they pursued the Philistines and killed them as far as below Beth Kar.
І повихо́дили Ізраїлеві люди з Міцпи́, та й гнали филисти́млян, і били їх аж під Бет-Кар.
12 Then Samuel took a stone and set it between Mizpah and Shen. He named it Ebenezer, saying, “Thus far Yahweh has helped us.”
І взяв Самуїл одного ка́меня, і поклав між Міцпою та між Шенам, та й назвав ім'я́ йому: Евен-Єзер. І він сказав: „Аж доти допоміг нам Господь“.
13 So the Philistines were subdued and they did not enter the border of Israel. The hand of Yahweh was against the Philistines all the days of Samuel.
І були филистимляни перемо́жені, і далі вже не вхо́дили в Ізраїлеві границі. І була Господня рука на филисти́млянах за всі дні Самуїлові.
14 The towns that the Philistines had taken from Israel were restored to Israel, from Ekron to Gath; Israel brought back their territory from the Philistines. Then there was peace between Israel and the Amorites.
І вернулися до Ізраїля ті міста́, що филисти́мляни забрали були́ від Ізраїля, від Екро́ну й аж до Ґа́ту, а їхню границю Ізраїль урятував від руки филисти́млян. І був мир між Ізраїлем та між Аморе́янином.
15 Samuel judged Israel all the days of his life.
І судив Самуїл Ізраїля всі дні життя свого.
16 Each year he went on a circuit to Bethel, to Gilgal, and to Mizpah. He decided disputes for Israel in all these places.
І ходив він рік-річно, і обходив Бет-Ел, і Ґілґал, і Міцпу́, — і судив Ізраїля по всіх тих місця́х.
17 Then he would return to Ramah, because his house was there; and there also he decided disputes for Israel. He also built an altar there to Yahweh.
І вертався до Рами́, бо там був дім його, і там судив Ізраїля. І він збудував там же́ртівника для Господа.
