< 1 Samuel 5 >

1 Now the Philistines had captured the ark of God, and they brought it from Ebenezer to Ashdod.
Philistine ten Pathen thingkong alah jouvun, Ebenezer galmuna konin Ashdod khopi alhut tauve.
2 The Philistines took the ark of God, brought it into the house of Dagon, and set it up beside Dagon.
Amahon Pathen thingkong chu apu-uvin Dagon milim houna inah akoitauve,
3 When the people of Ashdod got up early the next day, behold, Dagon had fallen facedown on the ground before the ark of Yahweh. So they took Dagon and set him up in his place again.
Ahin ajing jingkah matah’in Ashdod khosung miten agavet ule Dagon chu Pakai thingkong masang ah chun amaichang tol lang ana ngan ana lhun ahi. Chuin amahon Dagon chu aphongding un, akitunna ma ma a chun akoikit tauvin ahi.
4 But when they got up early the next morning, behold, Dagon had fallen facedown on the ground before the ark of Yahweh. The head of Dagon and both of his hands were lying cut off in the doorway. Only the trunk of Dagon remained.
Ahin ajing jingkah in angai ngaiyin, Dagon chu Pakai thingkong masang ah chun amai tol lang ana ngan ana lhu kit in ahi. Tuchung in vang, akhutphang teni le aluchang chu tanbohsan kotbul lamah ana um'in, Dagon atahsa bou chu kitup chet in ana kijam in ahi.
5 This is why, even today, the priests of Dagon and anyone who comes into Dagon's house does not step on the doorway of Dagon in Ashdod.
Hijeh chun Dagon thempupa hihen lang, koi hijongle Ashdod khoa Dagon insunga hung jouse chun Dagon kijamna mun chu akeng’a ana chotpha louhel u ahi.
6 Yahweh's hand was heavy upon the people of Ashdod. He destroyed them and afflicted them with tumors, both Ashdod and its territories.
Hijeh chun Pakai khut gih tah chu Ashdod mite chungah gih tah in achun, chule amaho le akho kom a kho ho chung’a chun tijat umtah in abol genthei lheh tan ahi,
7 When the men of Ashdod realized what was happening, they said, “The ark of the God of Israel must not stay with us, because his hand is hard against us and against Dagon our god.”
Hichu mipiten ahetdoh phat’un, akapjah jengun, “Eihon Pathen thing khong ikomuva ikoi sot theilou diu ahi! Ama chu eihotoh kidou ahibouve, ipathenu Dagon toh eisuh mangtha diu ahibouve,” atiuvin ahi.
8 So they sent for and gathered together all of the rulers of the Philistines; they said to them, “What should we do with the ark of the God of Israel?” They answered, “Let the ark of the God of Israel be brought around to Gath.” So they carried the ark of the God of Israel there.
Hijeh chun amahon Philistine milen milal jouse aheng uvah akou khom un, “Israel Pathen thingkong hi i-ilodiu hitam?” atiuve. Chuin mipiten adonbut’un, Israel Pathen Thingkong chu Gath lamah kipo tahen tin akinopto tauvin ahi. Hijeh chun amahon Israel Pathen thing khong chu Gath lamah apolut tauve.
9 But after they brought it around, Yahweh's hand was against the city, causing a very great confusion. He afflicted the men of the city, both small and great; and tumors broke out on them.
Pathen thingkong Gath a agalhun phat un, Pathen khut thahat gihtah chu mite chunga achun, khopi sunga mite chu alen aneo abonchauvin ajep’in, uilut alansah tan ahi.
10 So they sent the ark of God to Ekron. But as soon as the ark of God came into Ekron, the Ekronites cried out, saying, “They have brought to us the ark of the God of Israel to kill us and our people.”
Hijeh chun amahon Pathen thingkong chu Ekron khopi ah atoldoh kit tauve, ahin Ekron miten amu phat un akapjah kit jengun, amahon Israel Pathen thingkong ahin thahlut jengu hi, eiho hi thigam nao hen, eitiuva ahi atiuve.
11 So they sent for and gathered together all of the rulers of the Philistines; they said to them, “Send away the ark of the God of Israel, and let it return to its own place, so that it does not kill us and our people.” For there was a deathly panic throughout the city; the hand of God was very heavy there.
Hichun mipite hon Philistine lamkai ho thu apeuvin, ngehna aneiyun, “Lungset tah in Israel Pathen thingkong hi agamlang uva nathahlut pehlou uva ahileh Ibonchauva eitha gam dingu ahi,” akitiuve. Ajeh chu hihe khopi jouse sunga chu suhgamna nasatah uma ahitan, Pathen khut chu gihsatah chua ahitai.
12 The men who did not die were afflicted with the tumors, and the cry of the city went up to the heavens.
Mihem athimoh ho chunga chun uilut achun, chule khopia kon awgin hung gin chun Van chan alhungin ahi.
