1 Samuel 3
1 The child Samuel served Yahweh under Eli. Yahweh's word was rare in those days; there was no frequent prophetic vision.
ഈ സമയം, ബാലനായ ശമുവേൽ ഏലിയുടെ കീഴിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്തുവന്നു. അക്കാലത്ത് യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാട് വിരളമായിരുന്നു; ദർശനവും സർവസാധാരണമല്ലായിരുന്നു.
2 At that time, when Eli, whose eyesight had begun to grow dim so that he could not see well, was lying down in his own bed.
ശരിയായി കാണാൻ കഴിയാത്തവിധം ഏലിയുടെ കണ്ണുകൾ മങ്ങിത്തുടങ്ങിയിരുന്ന കാലത്ത്, ഒരു ദിവസം രാത്രിയിൽ അദ്ദേഹം താൻ പതിവായി കിടക്കാറുള്ള സ്ഥലത്തു കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
3 The lamp of God had not yet gone out, and Samuel was lying down to sleep in the temple of Yahweh, where the ark of God was.
ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വിളക്ക് അപ്പോൾ അണച്ചിട്ടില്ലായിരുന്നു. ആ സമയം ശമുവേൽ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിൽ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പേടകം സ്ഥിതിചെയ്തിരുന്നിടത്ത് പോയി കിടക്കുകയായിരുന്നു.
4 Yahweh called to Samuel, who said, “Here I am.”
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ ശമുവേലിനെ വിളിച്ചു. “അടിയൻ ഇതാ,” എന്നു ശമുവേൽ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
5 Samuel ran to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Eli said, “I did not call you; lie down again.” So Samuel went and lay down.
ഉടൻതന്നെ ശമുവേൽ ഓടി ഏലിയുടെ അടുത്തുചെന്ന് “അടിയൻ ഇതാ; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ഏലി, “ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചില്ല; പോയിക്കിടന്നോളൂ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിനാൽ ബാലൻ പോയിക്കിടന്നു.
6 Yahweh called again, “Samuel.” Again Samuel rose and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Eli answered, “I did not call you, my son; lie down again.”
യഹോവ വീണ്ടും, “ശമുവേലേ!” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. ശമുവേൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കൽ ഓടിയെത്തി. “അടിയൻ ഇതാ; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചല്ലോ” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്റെ മകനേ, “ഞാൻ വിളിച്ചില്ല, പോയിക്കിടന്നോളൂ” എന്ന് ഏലി വീണ്ടും പറഞ്ഞു.
7 Now Samuel did not yet have any experience of Yahweh, nor had any message from Yahweh ever been revealed to him.
യഹോവയുടെ വചനം ശമുവേലിന് അന്നുവരെ വെളിപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നില്ല, അതുകൊണ്ട് ആ ബാലൻ അന്നുവരെ യഹോവയെ അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടുമില്ലായിരുന്നു.
8 Yahweh called Samuel again the third time. Again Samuel got up and went to Eli and said, “Here I am, for you called me.” Then Eli realized that Yahweh had called the boy.
യഹോവ അവനെ മൂന്നാമതും, “ശമുവേലേ!” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. ശമുവേൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് ഏലിയുടെ അടുത്തേക്ക് ഓടിവന്നു പറഞ്ഞു, “അടിയൻ ഇതാ; അങ്ങ് എന്നെ വിളിച്ചല്ലോ!” യഹോവ ബാലനെ വിളിക്കുകയായിരുന്നു എന്ന് അപ്പോൾ ഏലിക്കു ബോധ്യമായി.
9 Then Eli said to Samuel, “Go and lie down again; if he calls you again, you must say, 'Speak, Yahweh, for your servant is listening.'” So Samuel went and lay down in his own place once more.
അതിനാൽ ഏലി ശമുവേലിനോട്, “പോയി കിടന്നുകൊള്ളൂ. ഇനിയും നിന്നെ വിളിക്കുന്ന ശബ്ദംകേട്ടാൽ, ‘യഹോവേ, അരുളിച്ചെയ്താലും! അടിയൻ കേൾക്കുന്നു,’” എന്നു പറയണമെന്നു നിർദേശിച്ചു. അതിനാൽ ശമുവേൽ പോയി വീണ്ടും സ്വസ്ഥാനത്തു കിടന്നു.
10 Yahweh came and stood; he called as at the other times, “Samuel, Samuel.” Then Samuel said, “Speak, for your servant is listening.”
അപ്പോൾ യഹോവ വന്ന്, മുമ്പിലത്തേതുപോലെ ബാലന്റെ സമീപത്തുനിന്ന്, “ശമുവേലേ! ശമുവേലേ!” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. അപ്പോൾ ശമുവേൽ, “അരുളിച്ചെയ്യണമേ; അടിയൻ കേൾക്കുന്നു” എന്നു മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
11 Yahweh said to Samuel, “See, I am about to do something in Israel at which the ears of everyone who hears it will tingle.
യഹോവ ശമുവേലിനോട് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു: “ഇതാ, ഞാൻ ഇസ്രായേലിൽ ചില കാര്യങ്ങൾചെയ്യാൻ തീരുമാനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു. അതേപ്പറ്റി കേൾക്കുന്ന ഏവരുടെയും കാതുകൾ തരിച്ചുപോകും.
12 On that day I will carry out against Eli everything I have said about his house, from beginning to end.
അന്നു ഞാൻ ഏലിക്കെതിരായും അവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിനെതിരായും അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതെല്ലാം ആദ്യന്തം നിറവേറ്റും.
13 I have told him that I am about to judge his house once for all for the sin that he knew about, because his sons brought a curse upon themselves and he did not stop them.
തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ദൈവത്തെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നത് അറിഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവൻ അവരെ നിയന്ത്രിക്കാത്തതുകൊണ്ട് ഞാനവന്റെ ഭവനത്തിന്മേൽ എന്നേക്കുമായി ന്യായവിധി നടത്തുമെന്നു ഞാൻ അവനോടു കൽപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
14 Because of this I have sworn to the house of Eli that the sins of his house will never be atoned for by sacrifice or offering.”
അതിനാൽ, ‘ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തിന്റെ മഹാപാതകത്തിന്, യാഗത്താലോ വഴിപാടുകളാലോ ഒരുനാളും പരിഹാരം വരികയില്ല എന്നു ഞാനിതാ ഏലിയുടെ ഭവനത്തോടു ശപഥംചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.’”
15 Samuel lay down until morning; then he opened the doors of the house of Yahweh. But Samuel was afraid to tell Eli about the vision.
ശമുവേൽ പ്രഭാതംവരെയും കിടന്നുറങ്ങി; പ്രഭാതത്തിൽ എഴുന്നേറ്റ് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകൾ തുറന്നു. ഈ ദർശനത്തെപ്പറ്റി ഏലിയോടു പറയാൻ ബാലൻ ഭയപ്പെട്ടു.
16 Then Eli called Samuel and said, “Samuel, my son.” Samuel said, “Here I am.”
എന്നാൽ ഏലി, “എന്റെ മോനേ, ശമുവേലേ” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു. “അടിയൻ ഇതാ,” എന്നു ബാലൻ മറുപടി പറഞ്ഞു.
17 He said, “What was the word he spoke to you? Please do not hide it from me. May God do so to you, and even more, if you hide anything from me of all the words that he spoke to you.”
ഏലി ചോദിച്ചു: “യഹോവ നിന്നോട് എന്താണ് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തത്? അതു നീ എന്നിൽനിന്നും ഒളിക്കരുതേ! അവിടന്ന് അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതിൽ എന്തെങ്കിലും നീ എന്നിൽനിന്നും ഒളിച്ചാൽ ദൈവം നിന്നെ കഠിനമായി ശിക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ!”
18 Samuel told him everything; he hid nothing from him. Eli said, “It is Yahweh. Let him do what seems good to him.”
അതിനാൽ ഒന്നും മറച്ചുവെക്കാതെ സകലതും ശമുവേൽ ഏലിയോടു തുറന്നുപറഞ്ഞു. അപ്പോൾ ഏലി: “അവിടന്ന് യഹോവയല്ലോ! അവിടത്തെ ഹിതംപോലെ ചെയ്യട്ടെ!” എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
19 Samuel grew up, and Yahweh was with him, and he let none of his prophetic words fall to the ground.
ശമുവേൽ വളർന്നുവന്നു; യഹോവ അദ്ദേഹത്തോടുകൂടെയുണ്ടായിരുന്നു. അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ വാക്കുകൾ ഒന്നുംതന്നെ വ്യർഥമാകാൻ യഹോവ അനുവദിച്ചില്ല.
20 All Israel from Dan to Beersheba knew that Samuel was appointed to be a prophet of Yahweh.
ശമുവേൽ യഹോവയുടെ പ്രവാചകനെന്ന് ദാൻമുതൽ ബേർ-ശേബാവരെയുള്ള എല്ലാ ഇസ്രായേലിലും സ്ഥിരീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ട ഒരു വസ്തുതയായിരുന്നു.
21 Yahweh appeared again in Shiloh, for he revealed himself to Samuel in Shiloh by his word.
യഹോവ ശീലോവിൽവെച്ച് തന്റെ വചനത്തിലൂടെ ശമുവേലിന് തന്നെത്തന്നെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തി. യഹോവ പല ആവൃത്തി ശീലോവിൽവെച്ച് അദ്ദേഹത്തിന് പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി.
