< 1 Samuel 27 >
1 David said in his heart, “I will now perish one day by Saul's hand; there is nothing better for me than to escape into the land of the Philistines; Saul will give up looking for me any more within all the borders of Israel; in this way I will escape out of his hand.”
Dawuda ya yi tunani a ransa ya ce, “Wata rana Shawulu zai kashe ni, abu mafi kyau da zan yi shi ne in tsere zuwa ƙasar Filistiyawa. Da haka Shawulu zai fid da zuciya ga nemana a ƙasar Isra’ila, a can kuwa zan tsira daga hannunsa.”

8 David and his men attacked various places, making raids on the Geshurites, the Girzites, and the Amalekites; for those nations were the inhabitants of the land, as you go to Shur, as far as the land of Egypt. They had been living there in the land from ancient times.

11 David would keep neither man nor woman alive to bring them to Gath, saying, “So that they cannot say about us, 'David did such and such.'” This was what he did all the while he was living in the country of the Philistines.
