1 Samuel 2
1 Hannah prayed and said, “My heart exults in Yahweh. My horn is exalted in Yahweh. My mouth boasts over my enemies, because I rejoice in your salvation.
ഈ സംഭവത്തിനുശേഷം ഹന്നാ ഇപ്രകാരം പ്രാർഥിച്ചു: “എന്റെ ഹൃദയം യഹോവയിൽ ആനന്ദിക്കുന്നു; എന്റെ കൊമ്പ് യഹോവയിൽ ഉയർന്നിരിക്കുന്നു. എന്റെ അധരങ്ങൾ എന്റെ ശത്രുക്കൾക്കെതിരേ പ്രശംസിക്കുന്നു, കാരണം ഞാൻ അങ്ങയുടെ രക്ഷയിൽ ആഹ്ലാദിക്കുന്നു.
2 There is no one holy like Yahweh, for there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.
“യഹോവയെപ്പോലെ പരിശുദ്ധൻ ആരുമില്ല; അങ്ങയെപ്പോലെ വേറാരുമില്ല! നമ്മുടെ ദൈവത്തെപ്പോലെ ഒരു പാറയില്ല.
3 Boast no more so very proudly; let no arrogance come out of your mouth. For Yahweh is a God of knowledge; by him actions are weighed.
“അഹന്തയോടെ ഇനിയും നിങ്ങൾ സംസാരിക്കരുത്! നിങ്ങളുടെ അധരം അഹങ്കാരം ഉരിയാടാതിരിക്കട്ടെ! കാരണം യഹോവ സർവജ്ഞനായ ദൈവമാകുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് പ്രവൃത്തികളെ തൂക്കിനോക്കുന്നു.
4 The bow of the mighty men are broken, but those who stumble put on strength like a belt.
“വീരന്മാരുടെ വില്ല് ഒടിഞ്ഞുപോയി; കാലിടറിയവരോ, ബലം ധരിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
5 Those who were full have hired themselves out for bread; those who were hungry have stopped being hungry. Even the barren one gives birth to seven, but the woman who has many children languishes.
സുഭിക്ഷതയിലിരുന്നവർ ആഹാരത്തിനായി കൂലിപ്പണിക്കുപോകുന്നു; എന്നാൽ വിശന്നലഞ്ഞിരുന്നവർ സംതൃപ്തരായിരിക്കുന്നു. വന്ധ്യയായിരുന്നവൾ ഏഴുമക്കളെ പ്രസവിക്കുന്നു; എന്നാൽ പുത്രസമ്പന്ന വാടിത്തളരുന്നു.

7 Yahweh makes some people poor and some rich. He humbles, but he also lifts up.
ദാരിദ്ര്യവും സമ്പത്തും നൽകുന്നത് യഹോവതന്നെ; താഴ്ത്തുന്നതും ഉയർത്തുന്നതും അവിടന്നുതന്നെ.
8 He raises up the poor out of the dust. He lifts the needy from the ash heap to make them sit with princes and inherit the seat of honor. For the pillars of the earth are Yahweh's and he has set the world upon them.
അവിടന്ന് ദരിദ്രരെ പൊടിയിൽനിന്ന് ഉയർത്തുന്നു എളിയവരെ കുപ്പയിൽനിന്ന് ഉയർത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു; അവിടന്ന് അവരെ പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരോടുകൂടെ ഇരുത്തുന്നു മഹിമയുടെ സിംഹാസനത്തിന് അവരെ അവകാശികളാക്കുന്നു. “ഭൂമിയുടെ അടിസ്ഥാനങ്ങൾ യഹോവയുടേതാണ്; അവയുടെമേൽ അവിടന്ന് ഭൂതലത്തെ ഉറപ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു.
9 He will guard the feet of his faithful people, but the wicked will be put to silence in darkness, for no one will prevail by strength.
തന്റെ വിശ്വസ്തസേവകരുടെ കാലടികളെ അവിടന്ന് കാക്കുന്നു, എന്നാൽ ദുഷ്ടർ അന്ധകാരത്തിൽ നിശ്ശബ്ദരായിപ്പോകുന്നു. “ശക്തിയാൽ ആരും ജയിക്കുന്നില്ല;
10 Those who oppose Yahweh will be broken to pieces; he will thunder against them from heaven. Yahweh will judge the ends of the earth; he will give strength to his king and exalt the horn of his anointed.”
യഹോവയോട് എതിർക്കുന്നവർ തകർന്നുപോകുന്നു. പരമോന്നതൻ അവർക്കെതിരേ ആകാശത്തുനിന്ന് ഇടിമുഴക്കുന്നു; യഹോവ അഖിലാണ്ഡത്തിന്റെ അതിർത്തികളെ ന്യായംവിധിക്കുന്നു. “അവിടന്നു തന്റെ രാജാവിനു ശക്തി നൽകുകയും തന്റെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെ കൊമ്പ് ഉയർത്തുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.”
11 Then Elkanah went to Ramah, to his house. The child served Yahweh in the presence of Eli the priest.
തുടർന്ന് എൽക്കാനാ രാമായിലുള്ള തന്റെ ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു പോയി. ബാലനായ ശമുവേലോ പുരോഹിതനായ ഏലിയുടെ കീഴിൽ യഹോവയ്ക്കു ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുപോന്നു.
12 Now the sons of Eli were worthless men. They did not know Yahweh.
ഏലിയുടെ പുത്രന്മാർ യഹോവയെ ആദരിക്കാത്ത ആഭാസന്മാർ ആയിരുന്നു.
13 The custom of the priests with the people was that when any man offered a sacrifice, the priest's servant would come with a three-pronged fork in his hand, while the meat was boiling.
അന്ന് ജനങ്ങളുടെനേരേ ഈ പുരോഹിതന്മാർ പെരുമാറിയ വിധം ഇപ്രകാരമായിരുന്നു: ആരെങ്കിലും ഒരു യാഗം കഴിക്കാൻ വന്നാൽ, മാംസം വേവിക്കുന്ന സമയത്ത് കൈയിൽ ഒരു മുപ്പല്ലിയുമായി പുരോഹിതന്റെ സേവകൻ വരും;
14 He would stick it into the pan, or kettle, or cauldron, or pot. All that the fork brought up the priest would take for himself. They did this in Shiloh with all the Israelites that came there.
ചട്ടിയിലോ ഉരുളിയിലോ കുട്ടകത്തിലോ കലത്തിലോ അയാൾ മുപ്പല്ലി കുത്തിത്താഴ്ത്തും; ആ മുപ്പല്ലിയിൽ പിടിച്ച മാംസം എത്രയായിരുന്നോ അത് പുരോഹിതൻ തനിക്കായി എടുക്കും. ശീലോവിലേക്കു വന്നിരുന്ന എല്ലാ ഇസ്രായേല്യരോടും അവർ ഇപ്രകാരമാണ് പെരുമാറിയിരുന്നത്.
15 Worse, before they burned the fat, the priest's servant came, and said to the man who was sacrificing, “Give meat to roast for the priest; for he will not accept boiled meat from you, but only raw.”
മേദസ്സു ഹോമിക്കുന്ന സമയത്തുപോലും പുരോഹിതന്റെ സേവകൻ വന്ന് യാഗമർപ്പിക്കുന്ന വ്യക്തിയോട്: “പുരോഹിതനു വറുക്കുന്നതിനായി മാംസം തരിക; അദ്ദേഹം നിങ്ങളിൽനിന്ന് വേവിച്ച മാംസം സ്വീകരിക്കുകയില്ല; അതിനാൽ പച്ചയായിത്തന്നെ തരിക” എന്നു പറയും.
16 If the man said to him, “They must burn the fat first, and then take as much as you want.” Then he would say, “No, you will give it me now; if not, I will take it by force.”
“മേദസ്സു ഹോമിച്ചു കഴിയട്ടെ! അതു കഴിഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങൾക്കിഷ്ടമുള്ളത് എടുക്കാമല്ലോ” എന്ന് ആ മനുഷ്യൻ പറഞ്ഞാൽ ഉടൻതന്നെ സേവകൻ ഇങ്ങനെ മറുപടി പറയും: “അതുപോരാ! അതിപ്പോൾത്തന്നെ തരിക; അല്ലെങ്കിൽ ഞാൻ അതു ബലമായിത്തന്നെ എടുക്കും.”
17 The sin of these young men was very great before Yahweh, for they despised Yahweh's offering.
ഇങ്ങനെ യഹോവയ്ക്കുവേണ്ടി അർപ്പിക്കുന്ന യാഗങ്ങളുടെനേരേ ആ ചെറുപ്പക്കാർ അവജ്ഞയോടെയാണ് പെരുമാറിയിരുന്നത്. അതിനാൽ അവരുടെ പാപം യഹോവയുടെ ദൃഷ്ടിയിൽ വളരെ വലുതായിത്തീർന്നു.
18 But Samuel served Yahweh as a child clothed with a linen ephod.
എന്നാൽ ശമുവേൽ എന്ന ബാലൻ മൃദുലചണവസ്ത്രംകൊണ്ടുള്ള ഏഫോദ് ധരിച്ച് യഹോവയുടെമുമ്പാകെ ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
19 His mother would make him a little robe and bring it to him from year to year, when she came up with her husband to offer the yearly sacrifice.
എല്ലാവർഷവും അവന്റെ അമ്മ അവനുവേണ്ടി ഓരോ ചെറിയ ഉടുപ്പുണ്ടാക്കിക്കുകയും ഭർത്താവിനോടൊത്ത് വാർഷികയാഗത്തിനായി വരുമ്പോൾ അത് അവനു കൊടുക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുമായിരുന്നു.
20 Eli would bless Elkanah and his wife and say, “May Yahweh give you more children by this woman because of the request she made of Yahweh.” Then they would return to their own home.
ഏലി എൽക്കാനായെയും അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ ഭാര്യയെയും അനുഗ്രഹിച്ച് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞിരുന്നു: “ഇവൾ പ്രാർഥിക്കുകയും, യഹോവയ്ക്കായി സമർപ്പിക്കുകയും ചെയ്ത പുത്രന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്ത് ദൈവം നിനക്ക് ഈ സ്ത്രീയിൽ മക്കളെ നൽകട്ടെ!” അതിനുശേഷം അവർ സ്വന്തം ഭവനത്തിലേക്കു മടങ്ങി.
21 Yahweh again helped Hannah, and again she became pregnant. She bore three sons and two daughters. Meanwhile, the child Samuel grew before Yahweh.
യഹോവ ഹന്നായോടു കരുണ കാണിച്ചു. അവൾ മൂന്നു പുത്രന്മാർക്കും രണ്ടു പുത്രിമാർക്കും ജന്മംനൽകി. ഇതിനിടയിൽ ശമുവേൽ ബാലൻ യഹോവയുടെ സന്നിധിയിൽ വളർന്നുവന്നു.
22 Now Eli was very old; he heard all that his sons were doing to all Israel, and how they slept with the women who served at the entrance to the tent of meeting.
വളരെ വൃദ്ധനായ ഏലി തന്റെ പുത്രന്മാർ ഇസ്രായേൽജനത്തോട് ചെയ്തിരുന്ന എല്ലാ തിന്മകളെപ്പറ്റിയും കേട്ടു. സമാഗമകൂടാരവാതിൽക്കൽ ജോലി ചെയ്തിരുന്ന സ്ത്രീകളോടൊത്ത് അവർ കിടക്കപങ്കിടുന്ന വിവരവും അദ്ദേഹം അറിഞ്ഞു.
23 He said to them, “Why do you such things? For I hear of your evil actions from all these people.”
അദ്ദേഹം അവരെ വിളിച്ച് ഈ വിധം പറഞ്ഞു: “നിങ്ങൾ ഇത്തരം പ്രവൃത്തികൾ ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ത്? നിങ്ങളുടെ ഈ ദുഷ്‌പ്രവൃത്തികളെപ്പറ്റി ജനങ്ങളെല്ലാം പറയുന്നത് ഞാൻ കേൾക്കുന്നു.
24 No, my sons; for it is not a good report that I hear. You make Yahweh's people disobey.
അങ്ങനെ അരുത്. എന്റെ മക്കളേ, യഹോവയുടെ ജനത്തിന്റെ ഇടയിൽ നിങ്ങളെപ്പറ്റി പരന്നിരിക്കുന്നതായി ഞാൻ കേൾക്കുന്ന വാർത്ത നല്ലതല്ല.
25 “If one man sins against another, God will judge him; but if a man sins against Yahweh, who will speak for him?” But they would not listen to the voice of their father, because Yahweh intended to kill them.
ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ മറ്റൊരു മനുഷ്യനോടു പാപംചെയ്താൽ ദൈവം അയാൾക്കുവേണ്ടി മധ്യസ്ഥത വഹിക്കും; എന്നാൽ ഒരു മനുഷ്യൻ യഹോവയോടു പാപം ചെയ്താലോ? അവർക്കുവേണ്ടി മധ്യസ്ഥതവഹിക്കാൻ ആരാണുള്ളത്?” എന്നാൽ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാവിന്റെ ശാസന വകവെച്ചില്ല, കാരണം അവരെ മരണത്തിന് ഏൽപ്പിക്കുക എന്നതു ദൈവനിർണയമായിരുന്നു.
26 The child Samuel grew up, and increased in favor with Yahweh and also with men.
ബാലനായ ശമുവേൽ വളരുന്തോറും യഹോവയുടെയും മനുഷ്യരുടെയും പ്രീതിക്കു പാത്രമായിത്തീർന്നു.
27 Now a man of God came to Eli and said to him, “Yahweh says, 'Did I not reveal myself to the house of your ancestor, when they were in Egypt in bondage to Pharaoh's house?
ഒരു ദിവസം ഒരു ദൈവപുരുഷൻ ഏലിയുടെ അടുക്കൽവന്ന് ഇപ്രകാരം പറഞ്ഞു: “യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘നിന്റെ പൂർവികരായ ഇസ്രായേല്യർ ഈജിപ്റ്റിൽ ഫറവോന്റെ അടിമത്തത്തിലായിരുന്നപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ അവർക്ക് എന്നെത്തന്നെ വ്യക്തമായി വെളിപ്പെടുത്തിയില്ലേ?
28 I chose him out of all the tribes of Israel to be my priest, to go up to my altar, and to burn incense, to wear an ephod before me. I gave to the house of your ancestor all the offerings of the people of Israel made with fire.
എനിക്കു പുരോഹിതനായിരിക്കുന്നതിനും എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിലേക്ക് അടുത്തുവരുന്നതിനും ധൂപവർഗം കത്തിക്കുന്നതിനും എന്റെ സന്നിധിയിൽ ഏഫോദു ധരിക്കുന്നതിനുംവേണ്ടി ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ സകലഗോത്രങ്ങളിൽനിന്നും ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പൂർവികരെ തെരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു. ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ അഗ്നിയിലൂടെ അർപ്പിക്കുന്ന സകലനിവേദ്യങ്ങളും ഞാൻ നിന്റെ പൂർവികരുടെ കുടുംബങ്ങൾക്കു നൽകി.
29 Why, then, do you scorn my sacrifices and offerings that I required in the place where I live? Why do you honor your sons above me by making yourselves fat with the best of every offering of my people Israel?'
എന്റെ തിരുനിവാസത്തിൽ ഞാൻ കൽപ്പിച്ചിട്ടുള്ള എന്റെ യാഗങ്ങളും വഴിപാടുകളും നിങ്ങൾ അവഹേളിക്കുന്നതെന്ത്? എന്റെ ജനമായ ഇസ്രായേൽ അർപ്പിക്കുന്ന വഴിപാടുകളിലെ വിശിഷ്ടഭാഗങ്ങൾകൊണ്ട് നിങ്ങൾ നിങ്ങളെത്തന്നെ കൊഴുപ്പിക്കുകയും അങ്ങനെ നീ എന്നെക്കാൾ കൂടുതലായി നിന്റെ മക്കളെ ആദരിക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നതെന്ത്?’
30 For Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, 'I promised that your house, and the house of your ancestor, should walk before me forever.' But now Yahweh says, 'Far be it from me to do this, for I will honor those who honor me, but those who despise me will be lightly esteemed.
“അതിനാൽ ഇസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു: ‘നിന്റെ ഭവനവും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനവും എന്നേക്കും എന്റെമുമ്പാകെ ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്യുമെന്നു ഞാൻ വാഗ്ദാനം ചെയ്തിരുന്നു, നിശ്ചയം.’ എന്നാൽ ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ പ്രഖ്യാപിക്കുന്നു: ‘അങ്ങനെയൊന്ന് ഇനിയും എന്നിൽനിന്ന് ഉണ്ടാകാതിരിക്കട്ടെ. എന്നെ മാനിക്കുന്നവരെ ഞാൻ മാനിക്കും, എന്നാൽ എന്നെ നിന്ദിക്കുന്നവർ നിന്ദിതരാകും.
31 See, the days are coming when I will cut off your strength and the strength of your father's house, so that there will no longer be any old man in your house.
നിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽ വാർധക്യത്തിലെത്തിയ ഒരു വ്യക്തിപോലും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കാത്തവിധം ഞാൻ നിന്റെ ബലവും നിന്റെ പിതൃഭവനത്തിലെ ബലവും ക്ഷയിപ്പിക്കുന്ന നാൾ ഇതാ വരുന്നു!
32 You will see distress in the place where I live. Although good will be given to Israel, there will no longer be any old man in your house.
ദൈവം ഇസ്രായേലിനു നൽകുന്ന എല്ലാ നന്മകളും നീ എന്റെ തിരുനിവാസത്തിൽ അസൂയയോടെ നോക്കിക്കാണും. നിന്റെ കുടുംബത്തിൽ ഒരുനാളും ആരും വാർധക്യത്തോളം എത്തുകയില്ല.
33 Any one of you that I do not cut off from my altar, I will cause your eyes to fail, and I will cause grief for your life. All the men born in your family will die.
കണ്ണുനീരുകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ കണ്ണു കുരുടാക്കാനും ദുഃഖംകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ഉരുക്കാനുംവേണ്ടി നിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ഒരുത്തനെ ഞാൻ എന്റെ യാഗപീഠത്തിൽനിന്നും ഛേദിച്ചുകളയാതെ അവശേഷിപ്പിക്കും. നിന്റെ ഭവനത്തിൽ ജനിക്കുന്ന മക്കളെല്ലാം ജീവിതത്തിലെ നിറഞ്ഞ യൗവനത്തിൽ മരിക്കും.
34 This will be the sign for you that will come on your two sons, on Hophni and Phinehas: They will both die on the same day.
“‘നിന്റെ രണ്ടു പുത്രന്മാരായ ഹൊഫ്നിക്കും ഫീനെഹാസിനും സംഭവിക്കുന്നത് നിനക്കൊരു ചിഹ്നമായിരിക്കും. അവരിരുവരും ഒരേദിവസം മരിക്കും.
35 I will raise up for myself a faithful priest who will do what is in my heart and in my soul. I will build him a sure house; and he will walk before my anointed king forever.
എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി വിശ്വസ്തനായൊരു പുരോഹിതനെ ഉയർത്തും. എന്റെ മനസ്സിലും ഹൃദയത്തിലും ഉള്ളതിന് അനുസൃതമായി അവൻ പ്രവർത്തിക്കും. ഞാനവന്റെ ഭവനത്തെ സ്ഥിരമായി സ്ഥാപിക്കും. അവൻ എന്റെ അഭിഷിക്തന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിത്യം ശുശ്രൂഷചെയ്യും.
36 Everyone who is left in your house will come and bow down to him, asking for a piece of silver and a loaf of bread, and will say, “Please assign me to one of the priests' positions so I can eat a piece of bread.”'”
അങ്ങനെ നിന്റെ കുടുംബനിരയിൽ അവശേഷിക്കുന്നവരിൽ ഓരോരുത്തരും ഒരു വെള്ളിക്കാശിനും ഒരപ്പത്തിനുംവേണ്ടി അവന്റെ മുമ്പിൽ ചെന്നു വണങ്ങി, “എന്റെ വിശപ്പു ശമിപ്പിക്കാനുള്ള വല്ല വകയും കിട്ടത്തക്കവണ്ണം പൗരോഹിത്യകർമത്തിലെ ഏതെങ്കിലുമൊരു ജോലിക്ക് എന്നെ നിയോഗിക്കണമേ”’ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞ് അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ യാചിക്കും.”
