< 1 John 5 >

1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is born from God, and whoever loves a father also loves the child born from him.
EVERY one who believeth that Jesus is the Messiah, is born of God; and every one who loveth him that begat, loveth him also who is begotten by him.
2 Because of this we know that we love God's children, when we love God and do his commandments.
Hereby we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is love for God: that we keep his commandments. And his commandments are not burdensome.
For this is the love of God, that we should keep his commandments: and his commandments are not burdensome.
4 For everyone who is born from God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith.
Because every one that is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory which overcometh the world, our faith.
5 Who is the one who overcomes the world? The one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.
Who is he that overcometh the world, except he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is the one who came by water and blood: Jesus Christ. He came not only by water, but also by water and blood.
This is he who came by water and blood, Jesus the Messiah; not by the water only, but by the water and the blood: and the Spirit is the witnessing person, because the Spirit is the truth.
7 For there are three who bear witness:
For they are three who bear witness in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit, and these, even the three, are one.
8 the Spirit, the water, and the blood. These three are in agreement.
And there are three which bear witness upon earth, the spirit, and the water, and the blood, and the three are for the same one object.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater. For the testimony of God is this, that he has borne witness concerning his Son.
If we receive the testimony of man, the testimony of God is stronger: for this is the testimony of God which he testified concerning his Son.
10 Anyone who believes in the Son of God has the testimony in himself. Anyone who does not believe God has made him out to be a liar, because he has not believed the witness that God has given concerning his Son.
He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the testimony in himself; he that believeth not God, hath made him a liar, because he hath not believed on the testimony which God testified of his Son.
11 And the witness is this: God gave us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
And this is the testimony, that God hath given life eternal to us; and this life is in his Son. (aiōnios g166)
12 The one who has the Son has life. The one who does not have the Son of God does not have life.
He that hath the Son, hath this life; and he that hath not the Son of God, hath not this life.
13 I have written to you these things so that you will know that you have eternal life—to you who believe in the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
These things have I written to you who believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know that ye have life eternal, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God. (aiōnios g166)
14 Also, this is the confidence we have before him, that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.
And this is the confidence that we have towards him, that whatsoever we ask according to his will, he heareth us.
15 Also, if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask of him—we know that we have whatever we have asked of him.
And if we know that he heareth us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we receive the petitions, which we have requested, from him.
16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not result in death, he must pray, and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not result in death. There is a sin that results in death; I am not saying that he should pray about that.
If any person see his brother committing a sin not unto death, he shall request, and God will grant him life for those that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I say not that he should request for that.
17 All unrighteousness is sin, but there is sin that does not result in death.
All unrighteousness is sin; and there is sin not unto death.
18 We know that whoever is born from God does not sin. But the one who was born from God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him.
We know that every one who is born of God sinneth not; but he that is born of God preserveth himself, and the wicked one toucheth him not.
19 We know that we are from God, and we know that the whole world lies in the power of the evil one.
We know that we are of God, and the whole world is under the power of that wicked one.
20 But we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know him who is true. Also, we are in him who is true, in his Son Jesus Christ. This one is the true God and eternal life. (aiōnios g166)
But we know that the Son of God hath come, and hath given to us understanding, that we might know the true God; and we are in him that is true, in his Son Jesus the Messiah. HE is the true God, and the life eternal. (aiōnios g166)
21 Children, keep yourselves from idols.
My dear children, guard yourselves against idols. Amen.
