< 1 Corinthians 11 >
1 Be imitators of me, just as I am an imitator of Christ.
Je chixnoꞌjinoq jetaq ri kinnoꞌjin in, jeriꞌ rumal in are kinwesaj uwach ri Cristo.
2 Now I praise you because you remember me in everything. I praise you because you hold fast to the traditions just as I delivered them to you.
Sibꞌalaj kinya iqꞌij rumal kinnaꞌtaj chiꞌwe xuqujeꞌ iyakom piꞌwanimaꞌ ri kꞌutuꞌn ri xinya chiꞌwe.
3 Now I want you to understand that Christ is the head of every man, that a man is the head of a woman, and that God is the head of Christ.
Kawaj kꞌut qas kichꞌobꞌo chi ri Cristo are ujolom ri achi, ri achi are ujolom ri ixoq, xuqujeꞌ ri Dios are ujolom ri Cristo.
4 Any man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head.
Ri achi ri kuchꞌuq ri ujolom are kubꞌan chꞌawem o are kuqꞌalajisaj jun tzij ri kaya che rumal ri Dios, kuya pa ukꞌixibꞌal ri ujolom.
5 But any woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head. For it is the same thing as if her head were shaved.
Are kꞌu ri ixoq ri man uchꞌuqum ta ri ujolom are kubꞌan chꞌawem o kuqꞌalajisaj jun tzij ri kaya che rumal ri Dios je ta ne xa toꞌl riꞌ ri ujolom, rumal usakꞌim ronojel ri uwiꞌ.
6 For if a woman will not cover her head, she should cut her hair short. If it is disgraceful for a woman to have her hair cut off or for her to shave her head, let her cover her head.
We man kuchꞌuq ri ujolom ri ixoq, chusakꞌij bꞌa ri uwiꞌ. We kꞌu kꞌixibꞌal che ri ixoq kusakꞌij ri uwiꞌ o kubꞌan tol che ri ujolom, chuchꞌuqu bꞌa.
7 For a man should not have his head covered, since he is the image and glory of God. But the woman is the glory of the man.
Man yaꞌtal ta che ri achi kuchꞌuq ri ujolom, rumal cher are ukꞌutwachil ri ujuluwem ri Dios, ri ixoq kꞌut are ujuluwem ri achi.
8 For man was not made from woman. Instead, woman was made from man.
Rumal cher ri achi man che ta ri ixoq xesax wi, xane are ri ixoq xesax che ri achi.
9 For neither was man created for woman. Instead, woman was created for man.
Xuqujeꞌ man rumal ta rech ri ixoq xtik ri achi, xane are xtik ri ixoq rumal rech ri achi.
10 This is why the woman ought to have a symbol of authority on her head, because of the angels.
Rumal we riꞌ xuqujeꞌ kumal ke ri angelibꞌ, rajawaxik ri ixoq are kabꞌan rech puꞌwiꞌ ri ujolom.
11 Nevertheless, in the Lord, the woman is not independent from the man, nor is the man independent from the woman.
Pune jeriꞌ, pa ri Ajawxel, ri ixoq man kakwin taj kakꞌojiꞌk we maj ri achi, xuqujeꞌ ri achi man kakwin taj kakꞌojiꞌk we maj ri ixoq.
12 For as the woman comes from the man, so does the man come from the woman. And all things come from God.
Rumal cher jacha ri ixoq, che ri achi petinaq wi, je xuqujeꞌ ri achi che ri ixoq kalax wi. Ronojel kꞌut che ri Dios kape wi.
13 Judge for yourselves: Is it proper for a woman to pray to God with her head uncovered?
Chiqꞌata tzij ix puꞌwiꞌ we riꞌ: ¿La taqal kꞌu che ri ixoq kubꞌan chꞌawem cho ri Dios we man uchꞌuqum ri ujolom?
14 Does not even nature itself teach you that if a man has long hair, it is a disgrace for him?
¿La man kꞌu ukꞌutum ri kꞌaslemal chiꞌwach chi kꞌixibꞌal we kunimaꞌqirisaj ri uwiꞌ ri achi,
15 Does not nature teach you that if a woman has long hair, it is her glory? For her hair has been given to her as a covering.
are kꞌu ri ixoq are nim uqꞌij we nimaꞌq ri uwiꞌ? Jeriꞌ rumal cher ri uwiꞌ ri ixoq jer kꞌo chꞌuqbꞌal ujolom.
16 But if anyone wants to argue about this, we do not have any other practice, nor do the churches of God.
We kꞌo jun kukoj uchuqꞌabꞌ katzijon chirij we jastaq riꞌ, naꞌtaj che chi ri uj xuqujeꞌ ri ukomontyox ri Dios man kꞌo ta chi jun qanaqꞌatajisabꞌal cho we riꞌ.
17 But in the following instructions, I do not praise you. For when you come together, it is not for the better but for the worse.
Kintzꞌibꞌaj we riꞌ chiꞌwe man chuyaꞌik ta iqꞌij, rumal cher pa ri iriqoj iwibꞌ man are ta nim ri utzilal kibꞌano xane are nim ri etzelal.
18 For in the first place, I hear that when you come together in the church, there are divisions among you, and in part I believe it.
Ri nabꞌe xbꞌix chwe are chi are kiriq iwibꞌ ix komontyox, kꞌo paꞌin ibꞌ chiꞌxoꞌl, ri in kꞌut kinkoj jubꞌiqꞌ ri xbꞌix chwe.
19 For there must also be factions among you, so that those who are approved may be recognized among you.
Qas tzij wi, rajawaxik chi kꞌo chꞌoꞌj chiꞌxoꞌl rech qas keqꞌalajinik jachin ri qas e tereneꞌl rech ri Cristo.
20 For when you come together, it is not the Lord's Supper that you eat.
Are kimulij iwibꞌ, man are ta tajin kimulij iwibꞌ chubꞌanik ri waꞌim rech ri Ajawxel.
21 When you eat, each one eats his own food before the others have their meal. One is hungry, and another becomes drunk.
Rumal cher pa jujunal chiꞌwe kixnabꞌej chutijik ri irekeqꞌij ri iwukꞌaꞌm bꞌik, e kꞌo kꞌu jujun kakinaꞌ wiꞌjal, nikꞌaj chik keqꞌabꞌarik.
22 Do you not have houses to eat and to drink in? Do you despise the church of God and humiliate those who have nothing? What should I say to you? Should I praise you? I will not praise you for this!
¿La xa kꞌu maj iwachoch jawjeꞌ kixwaꞌ wi? ¿O xa kiwetzelaj ri ukomontyox ri Dios xuqujeꞌ kiꞌya pa kikꞌixibꞌal ri maj kirekeqꞌij kukꞌam bꞌik? ¿La kinya kꞌu iqꞌij rumal we riꞌ? Man kinya taj.
23 For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you, that the Lord Jesus, on the night when he was betrayed, took bread.
In xinkꞌamawaꞌj che ri Ajawxel ri xinbꞌij chiꞌwe: Ri Ajawxel Jesús che ri chaqꞌabꞌ ri xjach pa kamikal, xukꞌam ri kaxlan wa,
24 After he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you. Do this to remember me.”
are xtyoxitaj rumal che ri Dios, xupirij. Kꞌa te riꞌ xubꞌij: We kaxlan wa riꞌ are nutyoꞌjal ri kinjach na rumal iwe; jewaꞌ chibꞌana che naꞌtabꞌal we.
25 In the same way he took the cup after supper, and he said, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this as often as you drink it, to remember me.”
Xuqujeꞌ are xtijtaj ri rekeqꞌij, xukꞌam ri qumubꞌal kꞌa te riꞌ xubꞌij: We vino riꞌ are waꞌ ri kꞌakꞌ chꞌekom tzij pa ri nukikꞌel, are kiqumuj we vino riꞌ chibꞌana che naꞌtabꞌal we.
26 For every time you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until he comes.
Jeriꞌ, ronojel mul are kitij we kaxlan wa riꞌ xuqujeꞌ kiqumuj iwe we vino, tajin kinaꞌtaj ri ukamikal ri Ajawxel kꞌa jampaꞌ katzalij loq.
27 Whoever, therefore, eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in an unworthy manner, will be guilty of the body and the blood of the Lord.
Xaq jeriꞌ xapachin ri kutij rech we kaxlan wa riꞌ xuqujeꞌ we vino kunaꞌ kꞌut chi man taqal ta che, tajin kamakun cho ri utyoꞌjal ri Cristo xuqujeꞌ cho ri ukikꞌel ri Ajawxel.
28 Let a person examine himself first, and in this way let him eat of the bread and drink of the cup.
Xaq jeriꞌ are kꞌa majoꞌq kitij ri kaxlan wa xuqujeꞌ kiqumuj ri vino, qas chinaꞌ na jas kixriqitajik.
29 For he who eats and drinks without discerning the body, eats and drinks judgment to himself.
Rumal cher ri kuqumuj ri vino xuqujeꞌ kutij rech ri kaxlan wa man uchomam ta rij ri kariqitajik, kꞌaxkꞌolal tajin kutijo.
30 That is why many among you are weak and ill, and some of you have fallen asleep.
Rumal riꞌ sibꞌalaj e kꞌi chike ri e kꞌo chiꞌxoꞌl man kꞌo ta kichuqꞌabꞌ xuqujeꞌ e yawabꞌibꞌ, e kꞌi xuqujeꞌ e kaminaq.
31 But if we examine ourselves, we will not be judged.
We ta kaqachomaj rij ri kujriqitajik, makaqꞌat ta tzij riꞌ pa qawiꞌ.
32 But when we are judged by the Lord, we are disciplined, so that we may not be condemned along with the world.
We kꞌu are ri Dios kaqꞌatow tzij pa qawiꞌ, kujuyajo rech man kaqꞌat ta tzij pa qawiꞌ kukꞌ ri winaq aꞌjuwachulew.
33 Therefore, my brothers, when you come together to eat, wait for one another.
Xaq jeriꞌ wachalal, are kiriq iwibꞌ che ri waꞌim, chiwayeꞌj iwibꞌ.
34 If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that when you come together it will not be for judgment. And about the other things you wrote, I will give directions when I come.
We kꞌo ne jun kanumik, woꞌq bꞌik cho rachoch, rech man kaqꞌat ta tzij puꞌwiꞌ ri iriqoj ibꞌ. Ri nikꞌaj jastaq chik kꞌa te keꞌnsukꞌumaj are kixeꞌnsolij.
