< 1 Corinthians 1 >
1 Paul, called by Christ Jesus to be an apostle by the will of God, and Sosthenes our brother,
2 to the church of God at Corinth, to those who have been sanctified in Christ Jesus, who are called to be holy people. We are also writing to all who call on the name of our Lord Jesus Christ in every place, their Lord and ours.
Twandĩkĩra kanitha wa Ngai ũrĩa ũrĩ Korinitho, kũrĩ arĩa othe maamũrĩtwo thĩinĩ wa Kristũ Jesũ na magetwo matuĩke andũ atheru, o hamwe na arĩa othe marĩ kũndũ guothe makayagĩra rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ, o we Mwathani wao na witũ:
3 May grace and peace be to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
Wega na thayũ irogĩa kũrĩ inyuĩ ciumĩte kũrĩ Ngai Ithe witũ na Mwathani Jesũ Kristũ.
4 I always give thanks to my God for you because of the grace of God that Christ Jesus gave to you.
Nĩnjookagĩria Ngai ngaatho hĩndĩ ciothe nĩ ũndũ wanyu, nĩ ũndũ wa wega wake ũrĩa mũheetwo thĩinĩ wa Kristũ Jesũ.
5 He has made you rich in every way, in all speech and with all knowledge,
6 just as the testimony about Christ has been confirmed as true among you.
tondũ-rĩ, ũira witũ ũkoniĩ Kristũ nĩwekĩrirwo hinya thĩinĩ wanyu.
7 Therefore you lack no spiritual gift as you eagerly wait for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio gũtirĩ kĩheo gĩa kĩĩroho o na kĩmwe mũtarĩ nakĩo, o mũgĩetagĩrĩra na kĩyo kũguũranĩrio kwa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ.
8 He will also strengthen you to the end, so that you will be blameless on the day of our Lord Jesus Christ.
9 God is faithful, who called you into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.
Ngai nĩ mwĩhokeku, o we ũrĩa wamwĩtire nĩguo mũkorwo na ngwatanĩro na Mũriũ Jesũ Kristũ, Mwathani witũ.
10 Now I urge you, brothers, through the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all agree, and that there be no divisions among you. I urge that you be joined together with the same mind and by the same purpose.
Atĩrĩrĩ, inyuĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, ndamũthaitha thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Mwathani witũ Jesũ Kristũ, atĩ inyuothe mũiguane o mũndũ na ũrĩa ũngĩ, nĩguo mũtikagĩe na nyamũkano gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu, no mũikare mũiguanĩte, na mũrĩ na meciiria o mamwe, na ngoro o ĩmwe.
11 For it has been made clear to me, my brothers, by Chloe's people that there are factions among you.
Tondũ rĩĩrĩ ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, nĩmenyithĩtio nĩ andũ amwe a kuuma nyũmba ya Kiloe atĩ nĩ kũrĩ na ngũĩ gatagatĩ-inĩ kanyu.
12 I mean this: Each one of you says, “I am with Paul,” or “I am with Apollos,” or “I am with Cephas,” or “I am with Christ.”
Ũrĩa ndĩroiga nĩ atĩrĩ: Ũmwe wanyu oigaga atĩ, “Niĩ nũmagĩrĩra Paũlũ”; ũngĩ akoiga atĩ, “Niĩ nũmagĩrĩra Apolo”; nake ũngĩ akoiga atĩ, “Niĩ nũmagĩrĩra Kefa”; o na ningĩ ũngĩ akoiga atĩ, “Niĩ nũmagĩrĩra Kristũ.”
13 Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized in the name of Paul?
Kaĩ Kristũ agayanĩtio? Paũlũ-rĩ, nĩwe waambirwo mũtĩ igũrũ nĩ ũndũ wanyu? Mwabatithirio thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩa Paũlũ?
14 I thank God that I baptized none of you, except Crispus and Gaius.
Nĩngũcookia ngaatho nĩ ũndũ gũtirĩ o na ũmwe wanyu niĩ ndaabatithirie, o tiga Kirisipo na Gayo.
15 This was so that no one would say that you were baptized into my name.
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio gũtirĩ mũndũ o na ũmwe ũngiuga atĩ mwabatithirio thĩinĩ wa rĩĩtwa rĩakwa.
16 (I also baptized the household of Stephanas. Beyond that, I do not know if I baptized any others.)
Ĩĩ, o na ningĩ nĩndabatithirie andũ a nyũmba ya Stefana; no tiga acio, ndingĩririkana kana nĩ kũrĩ mũndũ ũngĩ ndaabatithirie.
17 For Christ did not send me to baptize but to preach the gospel. He did not send me to preach with words of human wisdom, so that the cross of Christ should not be emptied of its power.
Nĩ gũkorwo Kristũ ndaandũmire ngabatithanie, no aandũmire ngahunjie Ũhoro-ũrĩa-Mwega, no ti ndĩũheane na ũũgĩ wa mũndũ, nĩgeetha mũtharaba wa Kristũ ndũkae kwagithio kĩene.
18 For the message about the cross is foolishness to those who are dying. But among those whom God is saving, it is the power of God.
Nĩgũkorwo ndũmĩrĩri ya mũtharaba nĩ ũrimũ kũrĩ arĩa maroora, no kũrĩ ithuĩ arĩa tũrahonokio-rĩ, ũndũ ũcio nĩ hinya wa Ngai.
19 For it is written, “I will destroy the wisdom of the wise. I will frustrate the understanding of the intelligent.”
Nĩgũkorwo kwandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ: “Ũũgĩ wa andũ arĩa oogĩ nĩkũniina ngaaũniina; naguo ũmenyo wa andũ arĩa imenyi ndĩkĩũtue wa tũhũ.”
20 Where is the wise person? Where is the scholar? Where is the debater of this world? Has not God turned the wisdom of the world into foolishness?
21 Since the world in its wisdom did not know God, it pleased God through the foolishness of preaching to save those who believe.
Nĩgũkorwo Ngai na ũndũ wa ũũgĩ wake nĩonire atĩ andũ a thĩ ĩno na ũũgĩ wao matikaamũmenya, akĩona kwagĩrĩire ahũthĩre maũndũ ma ũrimũ marĩa tũhunjagia nĩgeetha ahonokie arĩa mamwĩtĩkagia.
22 For Jews ask for miraculous signs and Greeks seek wisdom.
Ayahudi metagia ciama, nao Ayunani macaragia ũũgĩ,
23 But we preach Christ crucified, a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Greeks.
no ithuĩ tũhunjagia ũhoro wa Kristũ arĩ mwambe mũtĩ igũrũ: maũndũ macio nĩ mũhĩnga kũrĩ Ayahudi na ũrimũ kũrĩ andũ-a-Ndũrĩrĩ,
24 But to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, we preach Christ as the power and the wisdom of God.
25 For the foolishness of God is wiser than people, and the weakness of God is stronger than people.
Nĩgũkorwo ũrimũ wa Ngai nĩ mũũgĩ gũkĩra ũũgĩ wa mũndũ, naguo ũhũthũ wa Ngai nĩ mũritũ gũkĩra hinya wa mũndũ.
26 Look at your calling, brothers. Not many of you were wise by human standards. Not many of you were powerful. Not many of you were of noble birth.
Ariũ na aarĩ a Ithe witũ, ta gĩciiriei ũrĩa mwatariĩ rĩrĩa mwetirwo.
27 But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise. God chose what is weak in the world to shame what is strong.
No Ngai aathuurire maũndũ marĩa ma ũrimũ ma thĩ ĩno nĩguo aconorithie andũ arĩa oogĩ; ningĩ Ngai aathuurire maũndũ marĩa matarĩ hinya ma thĩ ĩno nĩguo aconorithie arĩa marĩ hinya.
28 God chose what is low and despised in the world. He even chose things that are regarded as nothing, to bring to nothing things that are held as valuable.
29 He did this so that no one would have a reason to boast before him.
30 Because of what God did, now you are in Christ Jesus, who became for us wisdom from God. He became our righteousness, holiness, and redemption.
No rĩrĩ, nĩwe ũtũmĩte mũkorwo mũrĩ thĩinĩ wa Kristũ Jesũ, ũrĩa ũtuĩkĩte ũũgĩ uumĩte kũrĩ Ngai nĩ ũndũ witũ, ũguo nĩ kuuga, ũthingu witũ, na ũtheru, na gũkũũrwo.
31 As a result, as scripture says, “Let the one who boasts, boast in the Lord.”
Nĩ ũndũ ũcio, o ta ũrĩa kwandĩkĩtwo atĩrĩ: “Mũndũ ũrĩa ũkwĩraha, nĩerahage nĩ ũndũ wa Mwathani.”
