< 1 Chronicles 23 >
1 When David was old and near the end of his life, he made Solomon his son king over Israel.
and David be old and to satisfy day and to reign [obj] Solomon son: child his upon Israel
2 He gathered together all the leaders of Israel, with the priests and Levites.
and to gather [obj] all ruler Israel and [the] priest and [the] Levi
3 The Levites who were thirty years old and older were counted. They numbered thirty-eight thousand.
and to recount [the] Levi from son: aged thirty year and above [to] and to be number their to/for head their to/for great man thirty and eight thousand
4 “Of these, twenty-four thousand were to oversee the work of Yahweh's house, and six thousand were officers and judges.
from these to/for to conduct upon work house: temple LORD twenty and four thousand and official and to judge six thousand
5 Four thousand were gatekeepers, and four thousand were to praise Yahweh with the instruments that I made to give praise,” David said.
and four thousand gatekeeper and four thousand to boast: praise to/for LORD in/on/with article/utensil which to make to/for to boast: praise
6 He divided them into groups that corresponded to Levi's sons: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.
and to divide them David division to/for son: child Levi to/for Gershon Kohath and Merari
7 From the clans descended from Gershon, there were Ladan and Shimei.
to/for Gershonite Ladan and Shimei
8 There were three of Ladan's sons: Jehiel the leader, Zetham, and Joel.
son: child Ladan [the] head: leader Jehiel and Zetham and Joel three
9 There were three of Shimei's sons: Shelomoth, Haziel, and Haran. These were the leaders of the clans of Ladan.

10 There were four of Shimei's sons: Jahath, Ziza, Jeush, and Beriah.
and son: child Shimei Jahath Zizah and Jeush and Beriah these son: child Shimei four
11 Jahath was the oldest, and Ziza the second, but Jeush and Beriah did not have many sons, so they were considered as one clan with the same duties.
and to be Jahath [the] head: leader and Zizah [the] second and Jeush and Beriah not to multiply son: child and to be to/for house: household father to/for punishment one
12 There were four of Kohath's sons: Amram, Izhar, Hebron, and Uzziel.

13 These were Amram's sons: Aaron and Moses. Aaron was chosen to set apart the most holy things, that he and his descendants would offer incense before Yahweh, to serve him and to give blessings in his name forever.

14 But as for Moses the man of God, his sons were considered to be Levites.
and Moses man [the] God son: child his to call: call by upon tribe [the] Levi
15 Moses' sons were Gershom and Eliezer.
son: child Moses Gershom and Eliezer
16 Gershom's descendant was Shubael the oldest.
son: descendant/people Gershom Shebuel [the] head: leader
17 Eliezer's descendant was Rehabiah. Eliezer had no other sons, but Rehabiah had many descendants.
and to be son: descendant/people Eliezer Rehabiah [the] head: leader and not to be to/for Eliezer son: child another and son: child Rehabiah to multiply to/for above [to]
18 Izhar's son was Shelomith the leader.
son: child Izhar Shelomith [the] head: leader
19 Hebron's descendants were Jeriah, the oldest, Amariah the second, Jahaziel the third, and Jekameam the fourth.
son: child Hebron Jeriah [the] head: leader Amariah [the] second Jahaziel [the] third and Jekameam [the] fourth
20 Uzziel's sons were Micah the oldest, and Ishijah the second.
son: child Uzziel Micah [the] head: leader and Isshiah [the] second
21 Merari's sons were Mahli and Mushi. Mahli's sons were Eleazar and Kish.
son: child Merari Mahli and Mushi son: child Mahli Eleazar and Kish
22 Eleazar died without having any sons. He had only daughters. The sons of Kish married them.
and to die Eleazar and not to be to/for him son: child that if: except if: except daughter and to lift: marry them son: child Kish brother: male-relative their
23 Mushi's three sons were Mahli, Eder, and Jerimoth.
son: child Mushi Mahli and Eder and Jerimoth three
24 These were Levi's descendants corresponding to their clans. They were the leaders, counted and listed by name, of the clans that did the work in the service of Yahweh's house, from twenty years old and upward.

25 For David said, “Yahweh, the God of Israel, has given rest to his people. He makes his home in Jerusalem forever.
for to say David to rest LORD God Israel to/for people his and to dwell in/on/with Jerusalem till to/for forever: enduring
26 The Levites will no longer need to carry the tabernacle and all the equipment used in its service.”
and also to/for Levi nothing to/for to lift: bear [obj] [the] tabernacle and [obj] all article/utensil his to/for service: ministry his
27 For by David's last words the Levites were counted, from twenty years old and upward.
for in/on/with word David [the] last they(masc.) number son: aged Levi from son: aged twenty year and to/for above [to]
28 Their duty was to assist Aaron's descendants in the service of Yahweh's house. They were to care for the courtyards, the rooms, the ceremonial purification of all the things that belong to Yahweh, and other work in the service of God's house.
for office their to/for hand: to son: descendant/people Aaron to/for service: ministry house: temple LORD upon [the] court and upon [the] chamber and upon purifying to/for all holiness and deed: work service: ministry house: temple [the] God
29 They also took care of the bread of the presence, the fine flour for grain offerings, the unleavened wafers, the baked offerings, the offerings mixed with oil, and all the measuring of the amounts and sizes of things.
and to/for food: bread [the] row and to/for fine flour to/for offering and to/for flatbread [the] unleavened bread and to/for griddle and to/for to stir and to/for all capacity and measure
30 They also stood every morning to thank and praise Yahweh. They also did this in the evening
and to/for to stand: stand in/on/with morning in/on/with morning to/for to give thanks and to/for to boast: praise to/for LORD and so to/for evening
31 and whenever burnt offerings were offered to Yahweh, on the Sabbath and at the new moon festivals and feast days. A fixed number, assigned by decree, always had to be present before Yahweh.
and to/for all to ascend: offer up burnt offering to/for LORD to/for Sabbath to/for month: new moon and to/for meeting: festival in/on/with number like/as justice: rule upon them continually to/for face: before LORD
32 They were in charge of the tent of meeting, the holy place, and helped their fellow descendants of Aaron in the service of Yahweh's house.
and to keep: obey [obj] charge tent meeting and [obj] charge [the] holiness and charge son: descendant/people Aaron brother: male-relative their to/for service: ministry house: temple LORD
