< 1 Chronicles 18 >

1 After this it came about that David attacked the Philistines and defeated them. He took Gath and its villages out of the Philistines' control.
And it came to pass after this, that David smote the Philistines, and humbled them; and he took Gath and its dependent towns out of the hand of the Philistines.
2 Then he defeated Moab, and the Moabites became servants to David and paid him tribute.
And he smote Moab, and the Moabites became David's servants, bringing presents.
3 David then defeated Hadadezer, king of Zobah at Hamath, as Hadadezer was traveling to establish his rule by the Euphrates River.
David also smote Hadar'ezer the king of Zobah, at Chamath, as he went to establish his dominion at the river Euphrates.
4 David captured from him a thousand chariots, seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen. David hamstrung all the chariot horses, but reserved enough of them for a hundred chariots.
And David captured from him a thousand chariots, and seven thousand horsemen, and twenty thousand men on foot; and David hamstringed all the chariot-teams, but reserved of them a hundred chariot-teams.
5 When the Arameans of Damascus came to help Hadadezer king of Zobah, David killed twenty-two thousand Aramean men.
And the Syrians of Damascus came to aid Hadar'ezer the king of Zobah, when David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.
6 Then David put garrisons in Aram of Damascus, and the Arameans became servants to him and brought him tribute. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
Then did David put [garrisons] in Syria of Damascus, and the Syrians became unto David servants, bringing presents. And the Lord helped David withersoever he went.
7 David took the golden shields that were on Hadadezer's servants and brought them to Jerusalem.
And David took the quivers of gold that were on the servants of Hadar'ezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.
8 From Tebah and Kun, cities of Hadadezer, David took very much bronze. It was with this bronze that Solomon later made the bronze basin called “The Sea,” the pillars, and the bronze equipment.
And from Tibchath, and from Kun, cities of Hadar'ezer, did David take exceedingly much copper; thereof made Solomon the copper sea, and the pillars, and the vessels of copper.
9 When Tou, king of Hamath, heard that David had defeated all the army of Hadadezer king of Zobah,
And when To'u the king of Chamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadar'ezer the king of Zobah:
10 and so Tou sent Hadoram his son to King David to greet him and to bless him. He did this because David had fought against Hadadezer and defeated him, and because Tou had often been at war with Hadadezer. Tou also sent David many different sorts of articles made of gold and silver and bronze.
Then did he send Hadoram his son unto king David, to ask him after his well-being, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadar'ezer, and smitten him: for Hadar'ezer had been engaged in wars with To'u; and [he had with him] all manner of vessels of gold and silver and copper.
11 King David set these objects apart to Yahweh, together with the silver and the gold that he carried away from all the nations: Edom, Moab, the people of Ammon, the Philistines, and Amalek.
Also these did king David sanctify unto the Lord, with the silver and the gold that he had carried away from all the nations, from Edom, and from Moab, and from the children of 'Ammon, and from the Philistines, and from 'Amalek.
12 Abishai son of Zeruiah killed eighteen thousand Edomites in the Valley of Salt.
And Abshai the son of Zeruyah smote of the Edomites in the valley of salt eighteen thousand [men].
13 He placed garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became David's servants. Yahweh gave victory to David wherever he went.
And he put garrisons in Edom, and all the Edomites became servants unto David. And the Lord helped David withersoever he went.
14 David reigned over all Israel, and he administered justice and righteousness to all his people.
And David reigned over all Israel, and he did what is just and right unto all his people.
15 Joab son of Zeruiah was the commander of the army, and Jehoshaphat son of Ahilud was recorder.
And Joab the son of Zeruyah was over the army, and Jehoshaphat the son of Achilud, recorder.
16 Zadok son of Ahitub and Ahimelech son of Abiathar were priests, and Shavsha was scribe.
And Zadok the son of Achitub, and Abimelech the son of Ebyathar, were [the] priests; and Shavsha was scribe;
17 Benaiah son of Jehoiada was over the Kerethites and Pelethites, and David's sons were the chief officials at the hand of the king.
And Benayahu the son of Jehoyada' was over the Kerethites and the Pelethites; and the sons of David were the first at the side of the king.
