< Romans 16 >

1 I commede vnto you Phebe oure sister (which is a minister of the congregacion of Chenchrea)
I commend to your care our Sister, Phoebe, who helps in the work of the Church at Cenchreae;
2 that ye receave her in the Lorde as it becommeth saynctes and that ye assist her in whatsoever busynes she neadeth of youre ayde. For she hath suckered many and myne awne selfe also.
and I ask you to give her a Christian welcome — one worthy of Christ’s People — and to aid her in any matter in which she may need your assistance. She has proved herself a staunch friend to me and to many others.
3 Grete Prisca and Aquila my helpers in Christ Iesu
Give my greeting to Prisca and Aquila, my fellow-workers in the Cause of Christ Jesus,
4 which have for my lyfe layde doune their awne neckes. Vnto which not I only geve thankes but also the congregacion of the getyls.
who risked their own lives to save mine. It is not I alone who thank them, but all the Churches among the Gentiles thank them also.
5 Lyke wyse grete all the copany that is in thy housse. Salute my welbeloved Epenetos which is the fyrst frute amoge them of Achaia.
Give my greeting, also, to the Church that meets at their house, as well as to my dear friend Epaenetus, one of the first in Roman Asia to believe in Christ;
6 Grete Mary which bestowed moche labour on vs.
to Mary, who worked hard for you;
7 Salute Andronicus and Iunia my cosyns which were presoners with me also which are wele taken amoge the Apostles and were in Christ before me.
to Andronicus and Junias, my countrymen and once my fellow-prisoners, who are men of note among the Apostles, and who became Christians before I did;
8 Grete Amplias my beloved in ye Lorde.
to my dear Christian friend Ampliatus;
9 Salute Vrban oure helper in Christ and Stachys my beloved.
to Urban, our fellow-worker in the Cause of Christ, and to my dear friend Stachys;
10 Salute Appelles approved in Christ. Salute them which are of Aristobolus housholde.
to that proved Christian Apelles; to the household of Aristobulus;
11 Salute Herodion my kynsma. Grete them of the housholde of Narcissus which are in the Lorde.
to my countryman Herodion; to the Christians in the household of Narcissus;
12 Salute Triphena and Triphosa which wemen dyd labour in ye Lorde. Salute ye beloved Persis which laboured in the Lorde.
to Tryphaena and Tryphosa, who have worked hard for the Master; to my dear friend Persis, for she has done much hard work for the Master;
13 Salute Rufus chosen tn the Lorde and his mother and myne.
to that eminent Christian, Rufus, and to his mother, who has been a mother to me also;
14 Grete Asincritus Phlegon Herman Patrobas Hermen and the brethren which are wt them.
to Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the Brothers with them;
15 Salute Philologus and Iulia Nereus and his sister and Olimpha and all the saynctes which are with them.
also to Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and to all Christ’s People who are with them.
16 Salute one another with an holy kysse. The congregacions of Christ salute you.
Greet one another with a sacred kiss. All the Churches of the Christ send you greetings.
17 I beseche you brethre marke them which cause division and geve occasions of evyll contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned: and avoyde them.
I urge you, Brothers, to be on your guard against people who, by disregarding the teaching which you received, cause divisions and create difficulties; dissociate yourselves from them.
18 For they yt are suche serve not ye Lorde Iesus Christ: but their awne bellyes and with swete preachinges and flatteringe wordes deceave the hertes of the innocetes.
For such persons are not serving Christ, our Master, but are slaves to their own appetites; and, by their smooth words and flattery, they deceive simple-minded people.
19 For youre obedience extendeth to all men. I am glad no dout of you. But yet I wolde have you wyse vnto yt which is good and to be innocetes concerninge evyll.
Every one has heard of your ready obedience. It is true that I am very happy about you, but I want you to be well versed in all that is good, and innocent of all that is bad.
20 The God of peace treade Satan vnder youre fete shortly. The grace of oure Lorde Iesu Christ be with you.
And God, the giver of peace, will before long crush Satan under your feet. May the blessing of Jesus, our Lord, be with you.
21 Thimotheus my worke felow and Lucius and Iason and Sopater my kynsmen salute you.
Timothy, my fellow-worker, sends you his greetings, and Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my countrymen, send theirs.
22 I Tertius salute you which wrote this epistle in the Lorde.
I Tertius, who am writing this letter, send you my Christian greeting.
23 Gaius myne hoste and the hoste of all the congregacions saluteth you. Erastus the chamberlayne of ye cite saluteth you. And Quartus a brother saluteth you.
My host Gaius, who extends his hospitality to the whole Church, sends you his greeting; and Erastus, the City Treasurer, and Quartus, our Brother, add theirs.
24 The grace of oure Lorde Iesu Christ be wt you all. Ame
25 To him that is of power to stablisshe you accordinge to my gospell and preachinge of Iesus Christ in vtteringe of the mistery which was kept secret sence the worlde begane (aiōnios g166)
Now to him who is able to strengthen you, as promised in the Good News entrusted to me and in the proclamation of Jesus Christ, in accordance with the revelation of that hidden purpose, which in past ages was kept secret but now has been revealed (aiōnios g166)
26 but now is opened by ye scriptures of prophesie at the commaundement of the everlastinge god to stere vp obedience to the faith publisshed amonge all nacions: (aiōnios g166)
and, in obedience to the command of the Immortal God, made known through the writings of the Prophets to all nations, to secure submission to the Faith — (aiōnios g166)
27 To the same God which alone is wyse be prayse thorowe Iesus Christ for ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
to him, I say, the wise and only God, be ascribed, through Jesus Christ, all glory for ever and ever. Amen. (aiōn g165)
