< Luke 9 >

1 Then called he the. xii. to gether and gave them power and auctorite over all devyls and that they myght heale diseases.
Having called together then the Twelve (disciples of him *K*) He gave to them power and authority over all the demons and diseases to heal
2 And he sent them to preache the kyngdome of God and to cure the sick.
and He sent them to proclaim the kingdom of God and to heal the (sick. *N(k)O*)
3 And he sayd to them: Take nothinge to sucker you by ye waye: nether staffe nor scripe nether breed nether money nether have twoo cootes.
and He said to them; Nothing do take for the journey; neither (staff *N(K)O*) nor bag nor bread nor money nor apiece two tunics to have.
4 And whatsoever housse ye enter into there abyde and thence departe.
And into whatever maybe house you may enter, there do remain and from there do go forth.
5 And whosoever will not receave you when ye go out of that cite shake of the very dust from youre fete for a testimony agaynst them.
And as many as (maybe *NK(o)*) not (shall receive *N(k)O*) you, going forth from the city that (and *k*) the dust from the feet of you (do shake off *N(k)O*) as a testimony against them.
6 And they went out and went thorow the tounes preachinge the gospell and healynge every wheare.
Going forth then they were passing through the villages evangelising and healing everywhere.
7 And Herod the tetrarch herde of all that was done of him and douted because that it was sayde of some that Iohn was rysen agayne from deeth:
Heard of now Herod the Tetrarch the [things] being done (by him *K*) all and was perplexed because of the saying by some that John (has been raised *N(k)O*) out from [the] dead,
8 and of some that Helyas had apered: and of other that one of the olde prophetes was rysen agayne.
by some also that Elijah had appeared, by others also that a prophet (someone *N(k)O*) of the ancients had arisen.
9 And Herod sayde: Iohn have I behedded: who then is this of whom I heare suche thinges? And he desyred to se him.
(and *k*) Said (then *no*) (*ko*) Herod; John I myself beheaded; who however is this concerning whom (I myself *ko*) I hear such things? And he was seeking to see Him.
10 And the Apostles retourned and tolde him what great thinges they had done. And he toke them and went a syde into a solitary place nye to a citie called Bethsaida.
And having returned the apostles related to Him as much as they had done. And having taken them He withdrew by in private into (place solitary *K*) (a town being called *N(k)O*) Bethsaida.
11 And ye people knewe of it and folowed him. And he receaved them and spake vnto them of the kyngdome of God and healed them that had nede to be healed.
The now crowds having known [it] they followed Him. and (having received *N(k)O*) them He was speaking to them concerning the kingdom of God, and those need having of healing He was healing.
12 And when ye daye beganne to weare awaye then came the twelve and sayde vnto him: sende ye people awaye that they maye goo into the tounes and villages roundabout and lodge and get meate for we are here in a place of wyldernes.
And the day began to decline. having come then the Twelve said to Him; do dismiss the crowd that (having travelled *N(k)O*) into the surrounding villages and (*ko*) countryside they may lodge and they may find provisions; for here in a desolate place we are.
13 But he sayde vnto them: Geve ye the to eate. And they sayde. We have no moo but fyve loves and two fisshes except we shuld goo and bye meate for all this people.
He said now to them; do give to them you yourselves to eat. But they said; Not there are to us more than loaves five and fish two, except surely even having gone we ourselves shall buy for all people this food.
14 And they were about a fyve thousand men. And he sayde to his disciples: Cause them to syt doune by fyfties in a company.
They were for about men five thousand. He said then to the disciples of Him; do make sit down them groups (of about *NO*) in fifty.
15 And they dyd soo and made them all syt doune.
And they did so and (he sat *N(K)O*) all.
16 And he toke the fyve loves and the two fisshes and loked vp to heven and blessed them and brake and gave to the disciples to set before ye people.
Having taken then the five loaves and the two fish, having looked up to the heaven He blessed them and broke [them] and He was giving [them] to the disciples (to set *N(k)O*) before the crowd.
17 And they ate and were all satisfied. And ther was taken vp of that remayned to the twelve baskettes full of broken meate.
And they ate and were satisfied all, and was taken up that having been a surplus to them of fragments hand-baskets twelve.
18 And it fortuned as he was alone prayinge his disciples were wt him and he axed the sayinge: Who saye ye people yt I am?
And it came to pass as happening He is praying in solitary were with Him the disciples, and He questioned them saying; Whom Me do pronounce the crowds to be?
19 They answered and sayd: Iohn Baptist. Some saye Helyas. And some saye one of the olde prophetes is rysen agayne.
And answering they said; John the Baptist, others also Elijah, others now that a prophet one of the ancients has arisen.
20 He sayde vnto the: Who saye ye that I am? Peter answered and sayde: thou arte the Christ of god.
He said then to them; You yourselves however whom Me do pronounce to be? (*k*) Peter then answering said; The Christ of God.
21 And he warned and commaunded them that they shuld tell no man yt thinge
And having strictly warned to them He instructed [them] to no one (to tell *N(k)O*) this
22 sayinge: that the sonne of man must suffre many thinges and be reproved of the elders and of the hye prestes and scribes and be slayne and the thirde daye ryse agayne.
having said that It is necessary for the Son of Man many things to suffer and to be rejected by the elders and chief priests and scribes and to be killed and on the third day (to be raised. *NK(o)*)
23 And he sayde to them all yf eny man will come after me let him denye him sylfe and take vp his crosse dayly and folowe me.
He was saying then to all; If anyone desires after Me (to come, he should deny *N(k)O*) himself and he should take up the cross of him every day and he should follow Me.
24 Whosoever will save his lyfe shall lose it. And who soever shall lose his lyfe for my sake the same shall save it.
Who[ever] for (maybe *NK(o)*) shall desire the life of him to save, will lose it; who[ever] however maybe may lose the life of him on account of me, he will save it.
25 For what avauntageth it a man to wynne the whole worlde yf he loose him sylfe or runne in domage of him sylfe?
What for is profited a man having gained the world whole himself now having destroyed or having suffered the loss of?
26 For whosoever is ashamed of me and of my sayinges: of him shall the sonne of man be ashamed when he cometh in his awne glorie and in the glorie of his father and of the holy angels.
Who[ever] for maybe may have been ashamed of Me and My words, him the Son of Man will be ashamed of when He may come in the glory of Himself and of the Father and of the holy angels.
27 And I tell you of a surety: There be some of the yt stonde here which shall not tast of deeth tyll they se ye kyngdome of god.
I say now to you truthfully there are some of those (there *N(k)O*) already standing who certainly not (may taste *N(k)O*) of death until maybe they may have seen the kingdom of God.
28 And it folowed about an. viii. dayes after thoose sayinges that he toke Peter Iames and Iohn and went vp into a moutayne to praye.
It came to pass now after sayings these about days eight, and having taken (*k*) Peter and John and James He went up on the mountain to pray.
29 And as he prayed ye facion of his countenaunce was changed and his garment was whyte and shoone.
And it came to pass during praying by Him the appearance of the face of Him [was] altered, and the clothing of Him white became dazzling.
30 And beholde two men talked wt him and they were Moses and Helyas
And behold men two were talking with Him who were Moses and Elijah;
31 which appered gloriously and spake of his departinge which he shuld ende at Ierusalem.
Those having appeared in glory were speaking of the going out of Him which He was soon to accomplish in Jerusalem.
32 Peter and they that were with him were hevy with slepe. And when they woke they sawe his glorie and two men stondinge with him.
And Peter and those with him were wearied with sleep. having awoken fully then they saw the glory of Him and the two men who already standing with Him.
33 And it chaunsed as they departed fro him Peter sayde vnto Iesus: Master it is good beinge here for vs. Let vs make thre tabernacles one for the and one for Moses and one for Helyas: and wist not what he sayde.
And it came to pass in the departing of them from Him said Peter to Jesus; Master, good it is for us here to be, also let us make tabernacles three, one for You and one for Moses and one for Elijah; not knowing what he is saying.
34 Whyll he thus spake ther came a cloude and shadowed them: and they feared when they were come vnder the cloude.
These things then when he is saying came a cloud and (was overshadowing *N(k)O*) them. they feared then in the entering (of them *N(k)O*) into the cloud.
35 And ther came a voyce out of the cloude sayinge: This is my deare sonne heare him.
And a voice came out of the cloud saying; This is the Son of Mine the (chosen, *N(K)O*) to Him do listen.
36 And assone as ye voyce was past Iesus was founde alone. And they kept it cloose and tolde noo man in thoose dayes eny of those thinges which they had sene.
And as happening the voice was found (*k*) Jesus alone. And they themselves were silent and to no [one] they told in those the days no [thing] of what they have seen.
37 And it chaunsed on the nexte daye as they came doune from the hyll moche people met him.
It came to pass then (in *ko*) the next day when were descending they from the mountain met with Him a crowd great.
38 And beholde a man of the copany cryed out sayinge: Master I beseche ye beholde my sonne for he is all that I have:
And behold a man from the crowd (cried *N(k)O*) saying; Teacher, I implore You (to look *N(k)O*) upon the son of mine for an only child to me he is;
39 and se a sprete taketh him and sodenly he cryeth and he teareth him that he fometh agayne and with moche payne departeth fro him when he hath rent him and
And behold a spirit takes him and suddenly he cries out and it throws into convulsions him with foaming and (with difficulty *NK(o)*) it departs from him bruising him.
40 I besought thy disciples to cast him out and they coulde not.
And I begged the disciples of You that (they may cast out *N(k)O*) it, and not they were able.
41 Iesus answered and sayde: O generacion with oute fayth and croked: how longe shall I be with you? and shall suffre you? Bringe thy sonne hidder.
Answering now Jesus said, O generation unbelieving and perverted, until when will I be with you and I will bear with you? do bring here the son of you.
42 As he yet was a cominge the fende ret him and tare him. And Iesus rebuked ye vnclene sprete and healed the childe and delivered him to his father.
While then when is coming near he threw down him the demon and threw [him] into convulsions. Rebuked then Jesus the spirit unclean and healed the boy and gave back him to the father of him.
43 And they were all amased at ye mighty power of God. Whyll they wondred every one at all thinges which he dyd he sayd vnto his disciples:
Were astonished then all at the majesty of God. Of all however wondering at all which (was doing *N(k)O*) (*k*) (Jesus *K*) He said to the disciples of Him;
44 Let these sayinges synke doune into youre eares. The tyme will come when the sonne of man shalbe delivered into the hondes of men.
do implant in yourself you yourselves into the ears of you words these; for the Son of Man is soon to be betrayed into [the] hands of men.
45 But they wist not what yt worde meant and yt was hyd fro the that they vnderstode yt not. And they feared to axe him of that sayinge.
But they were not understanding declaration this, and it was veiled from them that not they may understand it. And they were afraid to ask Him concerning declaration this.
46 Then ther arose a disputacion amoge the: who shuld be the greatest.
Came up then an argument among them this who maybe would be greater of them.
47 When Iesus perceaved ye thoughtes of their hertes he toke a chylde and set him hard by him
But Jesus (knowing *N(k)O*) the reasoning of the heart of them, having taken hold of (a child *N(k)O*) set it by Himself
48 and sayd vnto the: Whosoever receaveth this chylde in my name receaveth me. And whosoever receaveth me receaveth him yt sent me. For he yt is least amonge you all the same shalbe greate.
and He said to them; Who[ever] (maybe *NK(o)*) shall receive this child in the name of Me, Me myself receives; and who[ever] (maybe *N(k)O*) Me myself shall receive, receives the [One] having sent Me. The [one] for least among all you being he (is *N(k)O*) great.
49 And Iohn answered and sayde: Master we sawe one castinge out devyls in thy name and we forbade him because he foloweth not with vs.
Answering now (*k*) John said; Master, we saw someone (in *N(k)O*) the name of You casting out demons and (we were forbidding *N(k)O*) him because not he follows with us.
50 And Iesus sayde vnto him: forbyd ye him not. For he that is not agaynst vs is wt vs.
(and *k*) Said (then *no*) to him Jesus; Not do forbid; who[ever] for not is against (you *N(K)O*) for (you *N(K)O*) is.
51 And it folowed when the tyme was come yt he shulde be receaved vp then he set his face to goo to Hierusalem
It came to pass then in the completing the days of the ascension of Him that He himself the face (of him *ko*) steadfastly set to go to Jerusalem.
52 and sent messengers before him. And they went and entred into a citie of the Samaritans to make redy for him.
And He sent messengers before [the] face of Him. And having gone they entered into a village of the Samaritans (so as *N(k)O*) to make ready for Him.
53 But they wolde not receave him be cause his face was as though he wolde goo to Ierusalem.
And not they did receive Him because the face of Him was [as] going toward Jerusalem.
54 When his disciples Iames and Iohn sawe yt they sayde: Lorde wilt thou that we comaunde that fyre come doune from heven and consume them even as Helias dyd?
Having seen [it] now the disciples (of him *ko*) James and John said; Lord, do you want [that] we may call fire to come down from heaven and to consume them (as and Elijah did? *K*)
55 Iesus turned about and rebuked them sayinge: ye wote not what maner sprete ye are of.
Having turned then He rebuked them (and said not you know such as spirit are you yourselves. *K*)
56 The sonne of ma ys not come to destroye mennes lives but to save them. And they went to another toune.
(for the son of man not came souls of men to destroy but to save. *K*) and they went to another village.
57 And it chaunsed as he went in the waye a certayne man sayd vnto him: I will folowe the whither soever thou goo.
(And *no*) (it came to pass *KO*) (now *k*) when are going they along the road said someone to Him; I will follow You wherever (maybe *N(k)O*) You shall go (Lord. *K*)
58 Iesus sayd vnto him: foxes have holes and bryddes of ye ayer have nestes: but the sonne of man hath not where on to laye his heed.
And said to him Jesus; The foxes holes have, and the birds of the air nests; but the Son of Man not has where the head He may lay.
59 And he sayde vnto another: folowe me. And the same sayde: Lorde suffre me fyrst to goo and bury my father.
He said then to another; do follow Me. But he said; Lord do allow me having gone away first to bury the father of mine.
60 Iesus sayd vnto him: Let the deed bury their deed: but goo thou and preache the kyngdome of God.
He said then to him (*k*) (Jesus: *K*) do leave the dead to bury the their own dead. you yourself however having gone forth do declare the kingdom of God.
61 And another sayde: I wyll folowe the Lorde: but let me fyrst goo byd them fare well which are at home at my housse.
Said then also another; I will follow You, Lord; first however do allow me to bid farewell to those at the home of mine.
62 Iesus sayde vnto him: No man that putteth his honde to the plowe and loketh backe is apte to the kyngdome of God.
Said then to him Jesus: No [one] having laid the hand (of him *ko*) upon [the] plow and looking on the [things] back suitable is (for *k*) (the kingdom *N(k)O*) of God.
